any specific text you're reading or recommend? I read wage labor and capital last month as a way to dip my toe in the water and it was very informative
  9:01pm
Dean:

I'm reading Capital, v.1. Ironically, the editors/translator of the new translation are appearing on my campus tomorrow, the very day I WFH (labour from home).

I'm also reading Brian Leiter's and Jaime Edward's recent intro to Marx, and I plan to dive into the late Robert Paul Wolff's Understanding Marx. But Marx (via Fowkes) knew how to write. The prose is a joy.

Like George W. Bush, with whom everybody wanted to have a beer, I imagine it would have been the same to have shared pints with Marx. Unlike GWB, he knew a lot about a lot, and he had intellectual curiosity.

I have strong ideological commitments, but I am not reading Marx to inform or reinforce them. I want to understand the trajectory of his analysis. Put another way, WTF was he talking about?
