Artist Track Album Label Year Comments Approx. start time
The Monkees  (I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone   Favoriting More of The Monkees  Rhino  2006  Recorded 1966, remastered 2006. The band, notoriously saddled with the fact that studio musicians and producers ran the show, was not without virtue. Here just one Monkee, Micky Dolenz (lead vocal), with Tommy Boyce (composer, backing vocal), Wayne Erwin and Gerry McGee (rhythm guitar), Louis Shelton (lead guitar), Bobby Hart (composer, Vox Continental organ), Larry Taylor (bass), Billy Lewis (drums), Henry Lewy (percussion).

Joseph Branciforte & Theo Bleckmann  6.15   Favoriting LP1  greyfade  2019  Bleckmann, voice & electronics; Branciforte, modular synthesizer, Fender Rhodes, tape loops, processing. There is an LP2.  0:07:06 (MP3 | Pop-up)

Excerpts.  0:25:42 (MP3 | Pop-up)
Christopher Otto  rag'sma q1q2q3   Favoriting rag'sma  greyfade  2021  Violinist Otto's piece for three overlaid string quartets, with violinist Austin Wulliman, violist John Pickford Richards, and cellist Jay Campbell. Otto drew inspiration from a particularly complex interval known as the ragisma — a ratio of 4375:4374. The size of this interval, 0.396 cents, is so small that most would say it cannot be perceived by the human ear. But it is embedded here.  0:38:06 (MP3 | Pop-up)

KMRU & Aho Ssan  Ruined Abstractions   Favoriting Limen  Subtext Recordings  2022  Kenyan sound artist Joseph Kamaru (aka KMRU) and French digital alchemist Niamké Désiré (aka Aho Ssan) were invited by Berlin Atonal to collaborate on a project for the festival's Metabolic Rift edition.  0:59:48 (MP3 | Pop-up)
