There's good stuff on Rubber Soul, for sure. I believe the time of year of recordings sometimes affected their mood - Rubber Soul is a great autumn album - recorded in autumn, good for listening in autumn. Along with the developing psychedelic sound it was pioneering in its introspective feel.

Though I believe Revolver, or Abbey Road are better overall. Great songs, great sequencing, great package.

Not if you want to learn from the punk legacy - and if you really want to keep up that spirit - amateur musicians picking up instruments and doing your thing regardless of what anyone else is doing. There are punk scenes to get into now, but then you just become whatever the present trend is.

Beautiful, she practically reinvented this Ewan MacColl tune.
The slow "half-step" style, lovingly lingers on the lovely words, truly lost in the love described in the lyrics.

Gordon Lightfoot among others recorded this at the original quicker pace, but to me merely a historical reference to how the song was played before Roberta showed how it SHOULD be played.

This just occurred to me. I wonder if "dummy" means the same in the UK as here. A dummy in the UK is a pacifier but is it also used in the "You big dummy!" context?

I really, really enjoyed Matador's 90s output.

i always interpreted it as "mannequin", but i don't know if that's used in the UK either. certainly didn't know it was a synonym for pacifier.

Originally "dumb" from mute, not speaking, as used for the dumb-waiter system, a "dummy" doll, in the U.S. mostly has become synonymous with "stupid".

All looks reasonably within tolerances here. We'll see how long the NOLA parade koozies survive living with Goblin.

Sailed right through! It was weird. At the NOLA airport you don't even have to take off your shoes or take out your laptops. We ran into friends on the security line, and they had to have their bag searched. We figure it was the King Cake since we both had records.
