This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Collie is weed - originally referred to Colombian weed (a preferred strain at the time) and eventually became more general - hence a term like Jamaican collie

as what happened with "ganja" - originally a specific type of herb, but by misuse by the ignorant became any cannabis.
...it's etymology not as obvious as "collie"; anyone here know where the term "ganja" came from?

Hindi, 1689.
"Gāñjā is the title given to the flowers, whereas “charas” refers to the resin, and “bhang” the seeds and leaves"

its introduction to English was 1689 - it must be older than that in Hindi! very cool

in teenagehood the herbs of choice were collie, and acapulco gold. 40-45$/ounce...differenciated from "mexican" at ~$30/ounce.

then one day came "black african" and "hawaiian red"...the shit was pricey. 50-50$/ounce.

an herb dealer in harlem in the mid-90s, working behind bulletproof glass in a supposed shampoo shop that had no entry, just the window to the sidewalk - had 2 options; and you had to ask for both of them to get access to either of them.
the password was "chocolate or buddha".
then if you were approved you chose which one: buddha was beautiful sticky bud; chocolate was more standard, maybe some shake.
