August 1973, I go to the V.U. freshman orientation picnic where this band was playing on a low riser temp stage set up on the lawn- they were just killin' it. I asked the dude next to me "who ARE these guys?!" He says "some new band from Philly...Hall and Oates?" Instantly I became a fan. A few weeks later WMMR starts playing "She's Gone" & they rest, as they say, is history!

Fun Fact: Hall & Oates went out early as a national act opening for Lou Reed. I sometimes will see on social media somebody posting a flyer or poster for one of those concerts and people will say "HALL and OATES? WTF?" They don't know that when they started out, Hall & Oates were marketed as glam-adjacent (thus the silver album cover).

WIBG, WFIL, Jerry Blavat("the Geator With the Heater"), Todd and the Nazz, the whole 9 yards! Lived in LA from '71 till 2008. Bought the "Abandoned Luncheonette" LP after hearing it on a late-night show on KNAC, Long Beach.

Another great interview Todd. H&O was everything I hated as a punk rock kid in the '80s, but I came to appreciate all that stuff much more in later years.
