Chime Oblivion | Deathgod | 2025 | Full album released now!!! Today!!! April 17!!!... From Flood Magazine... "Chime Oblivion Work Through Strong Feelings on New Proto-Punk Jam “Kiss Her or Be Her” /////////// John Dwyer’s new project co-founded by Bow Wow Wow’s David Barbarossa will release their self-titled debut on April 18 via Deathgod. //// It was bound to happen eventually: After two decades of non-stop prolific output under the many guises of his Osees project, John Dwyer seemingly cloned himself to lead a second, parallel existence as the band leader for a revolving set of collaborators within jazz fusion projects like Bent Arcana and Witch Egg and beyond. Having recently released SORCS 80 with his primary band, Dwyer is already moving onto his next full-fledged collaboration, this time enlisting iconic new-wave drummer David Barbarossa of Adam & the Ants and Bow Wow Wow, further padded out by members of Lydia Lunch’s Retrovirus and punk newcomers FKA Smiley, as well as tapping into the Osees and Bent Arcana talent pools. //// https://johndwyer.bandcamp.com/ | * | 0:03:24 (MP3 | Pop-up) |

Rick White- drums on Two Mares" /////////////////////////////////// --------------- "The term “Ein Sof” comes out of Jewish mystic theology. It’s a phrase for the unphraseable, a pair of words that stands in for the infinite-ness of god. It’s something that, almost by definition, no one can get a handle on. The harder you try to force it into words or thought, the more it slips away. Eiyn Sof with a “y” is a musical project that is likewise hard to pin down. It employs the simplest sort of instruments, the most fragile kinds of melodies to reach for the ineffable... //// ...Eiyn Sof is the performing name for Melissa Boraski, a Toronto singer who started in gospel, took a detour through rock bands like the Real Priscillas, broke off her musical career to have a couple of kids and [over the years] finally began inching [then diving] back in her limited spare time, making songs on guitar, piano, voice and an old synthesizer [at first]..." 79-80 | Plus Instruments | 79/80/2023 | Plus Instruments' existence spans over the last 4 decades. Established in 1978 by Truus de Groot in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, amidst the explosion of Punk Rock. Even though Truus was very active in that genre and “New Wave” as well, the more experimental side gradually took over and the concept of Plus Instruments was born. Plus Instruments is still going strong! Check out Truus' Blue Beast ! //// "Released on Dead Mind Records. 200 copies on black vinyl with insert. Sold out are the 75 copies on purple vinyl Special edition with a signed and numbered print, an envelope with 4 small prints and a cassette with 2 archival live performances from the same period. A Truus de Groot solo performance at Van Abbe Museum, Eindhoven (1980) and a performance with Michel Waisvisz and Bregt Camphuijzen at the Notre Dame Hall, London (1979).The recordings for this LP were made by De Groot at home and the music is experimental and industrial, it sounds nothing like some of the later material. 7 tracks are taken from the elusive and impossible to find self-released debut cassette as ‘Truss Plus Instruments’ which was sparingly distributed through the legendary Alien Brains fanzine. The other 7 are from the same period (1979-1980) and were selected from the vast archive of De Groot. This selection serves as a long overdue testament of the formative phase of a true female pioneer of electronic music." //// "All Songs written and performed by Truus de Groot - aka Geertruda De Groot - Dewclaw Ditties (BMI)" https://plusinstruments.bandcamp.com/ //////////// From Truus de Groot earlier today, when asked to share words... Oksel Dief | Of Bits & Pieces | 2024 | Oksel Dief is the home recording work of Matthew McDonough (Chuck Skullz). Started in 2018 out of the usual boredom and an incessant inner monologue about the comings & goings of a post-2016 world. The product of a carrousel of contributors and inspirations, songs run the gamut from rant-style character presentations/assassinations, to Krautrock style repetition, to bedroom recording aesthetics walking the fine line of 90’s nostalgia. If Your Mirror Breaks | Ex Records | 2025 | In my estimation, The Ex are the other only band that ever mattered. Almost like an April Fool's joke, on April 1, The Ex dropped a new track & announced a new album for that week's end. Unlike morning pranks revealed by noon, this gift kept giving. "This one's for Steve" says the dedication on the back cover, in reference to friend & former recorder Steve Albini. "The Apartment Block" can be found on track 9, and what a track it is!!! ////////// Per BC: "The Ex started playing in 1979. Using guitars, bass, drums and voice as their starting point The Ex have continued to musically explore undiscovered areas right up to the present day: collaborations with jazz musicians and an Iraqi-Kurdish band, Kamagurka, Tom Cora, Sonic Youth, Han Bennink, Jan Mulder, Shellac and Wolter Wierbos. In 2002 The Ex set up a lively musical exchange with Ethiopia." //////////////////// ---> "In true ‘Ex fashion’, If Your Mirror Breaks picks up where 27 Passports left off, and erupts like a musical short story collection, a ten-part series of surrealist daydreams, calls to action, ominous warnings and bursts of vitality tapped into the pulse of time. What time could be more appropriate to release this album in, as the current one? Arnold de Boer, Katherina Bornefeld, Andy Moor and Terrie Hessels once again impress with their trademark urgency and creativity." ---- The Ex - Bandcamp | * | 0:28:55 (MP3 | Pop-up) |

Tied Up In The Bodega (Live) | Rough Trade | 2025 | Recorded live in their hometown of Nottingham on 30th November 2024 to a sold-out crowd, this incredible show was part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the iconic Bodega venue. It's rare for Sleaford Mods to perform for such a small crowd... TWO MEN IN SHORTS and t-shirts, set on dance and destruct. One, bearded, is responsible for the sounds but now only has to trigger the computer, allowing him to dance, limbs going hither and yon, like he wandered into the party, found it to his liking and won’t be leaving til sun-up. His name is Andrew Fearn. The other, non-bearded, begins by clutching the microphone and a drink (non-alcoholic) in one hand while the other ritually, almost independently flicks the side of his close-cropped head and ear. His name is Jason Williamson. in the torrent of narrow sounds you can hear the aggravation and provocation of Public Image and the hammer drill of Nine Inch Nails, the poking in the eye vertical dance of Amyl And The Sniffers and the horizontal interjections of Public Enemy’s Bomb Squad. We don’t just dance, we laugh too. At the savagery directed at the shamelessly venal merchants of cash and the mockery of the earnestly houseproud, at the distaste for the faux bumbling and sympathy for the real fumbling of the well intentioned. | * | 0:42:21 (MP3 | Pop-up) |

Single | Charles and Andrew Hendy | 2015 | T.P.M. are brothers Charles & Andrew Hendy. Coming from Co. Louth, influenced by the dole, depression and anxiety. They are from Dundolk, Ireland. This has shades of Irish Eminem but the message is much harder. "ll the Boys on the Dole was written in a slump of depression, sitting in a broken car with no money, nowhere to go and no end in sight. It is a response to the idea that if you are in our situation you are worthless. You are NOT worthless." Forshadowing bands like Kneecap...this message of ongoing lack of opportunity and class oppression with a Gorillaz swing works. | 0:45:50 (MP3 | Pop-up)

One of them being an early version of ‘Wake Up’, which I wrote with Elliot from Delta Riggs. I Wish I Didn't Like You | Didsburry Parsonage | 2025 | Jim E Brown, Poet and Artist/Activist born in Manchester on September 10, 2001, just one day before the 911. He is an alcoholic and has several degenerative conditions. He is a legend who bares his soul through music and tells it like it is. On his creative process: "Oh well you just pick up a guitar or a synthesizer and you just like, fuck around with the notes and then it kind of sounds like a song, you play some different things that come out. And then you sing on top of that, and then you can say whatever you want on top, for whatever music you’ve made. That recording technology is a bit weird cus it’s like, you can just make some weird music that just sounds like a bit shit, like most of my songs do. And then you just sing over it and it sounds like a song." | * | 1:00:21 (MP3 | Pop-up) |

![]() |
Panic Attack | State Fair Records | 2020 | Noisy garage pop from Dallas TX. Clifffs are pretty annoyed at the way how a lot of modern music is put together. Masterminded by John Dufilho, Clifffs’ second album ‘Panic Attack’ removes all the fluff and provides lean punk rock. 13 songs, 24 minutes and not a single bit of tech wizardry in sight. John said that he was angered that drums and chords are being perfectly placed onto computer screens – rigid and mechanically. His response is to create a purists punk rock album. Strip out all the crap and Clifffs remain a three-piece unit with basic audio production and very little to distinguish themselves from simple punk rock recordings from the mid-1970s. Clifffs have created a tightly woven two-finger salute to the daily grind and whilst they may not enjoy modern music production, they certainly identify with the modern malaise of the world. A little gem for rock fans. | 1:10:00 (MP3 | Pop-up)

![]() |
Hideout | Siltbreeze Records | 2025 | The quartet of Sonam Parikh, Pier Harrison Juliette Rando & Kat Bean are the glorious blood & guts behind Eraser. First, let me ask that you are familiar with the golden age of Rough Trade? Then if so, you would immediately connect with the sound of Eraser, which twitches & gyrates in a mashup of Pere Ubu & Kleenex. And yet there is a distinct New York-meets-Berlin No Wave tension underlying the fun. Think The Static meets Mania D. Are you in or out? And yet all of these are just luscious trajectories to lead you into the lair of Eraser's infective polygot of sound. There was a saying in the old days, "The person who can't dance says the band can't play". But in current times that is a bygone sentiment & both burn feverishly in the bloodstream of Eraser. They are here to spread their beguiling contagion upon all who will it. And no vaccine can deny them. FFO; ZE Records, 99 Records, Lust/Unlust, Zickzack. Disorders | Titanium Expose | 2024 | Hailing from the Netherlands, TITANIUM EXPOSÉ offers a high-voltage synth punk experience with their debut Disorders. Deranged garage riffs with moments of rockabilly lead the charge, but the star of the show is without a doubt the earworm synth lines that cut through every other instrument and establish their dominance throughout six songs. Vocals drowned in reverb make room for the crazy instrumentation of the songs by providing emphasis without trying to be too in-your-face. Drums are super crunchy and energetic, just the way I like ‘em. Honestly, TITANIUM EXPOSÉ’s Disorders sounds like the lovechild of the CONEHEADS and DIODE, and I’m totally here for it. | 1:14:32 (MP3 | Pop-up)

Today's Gains
![]() |
Select Trials | Ever/Never Records | 2021 | I enjoyed this particular relevance of this song to the times we live in, what with a fascist manipulating global markets so he and his billionaire friends can buy the dip. I digress. Rider/Horse is lean. There’s no fat in this wasteland to soften the blows of Kingston’s flagship experimental noise outfit. Select Trials, their first record, personifies the grit of running barefoot over industrial debris. The pandemic project of Chris Turco (drums) and Cory Plump (vocals, guitar), every second of Select Trials’ stabbing drum lines and chanting vocals riff off each other without wasting a second, with the mechanical reliability of industrial activity. "When I play a show I definitely look for vibes, and would like to be paid. But there definitely needs to be an energy to the space in order for it to feel right. People have to feel engaged with the music to attach to it – I have to feel attached to the people. If they’re not having a good time, how the fuck am I supposed to have a good time. If I’m not having a good time, how the fuck are they supposed to have a good time? There’s an immense conversational aspect that happens in a live setting. You have to like, do what you do and be fearless." | 1:16:19 (MP3 | Pop-up)

Single | Wet Man | 2025 | The song is inspired by the sounds of dogs in the Kelham Island community. "Wet Man" is the stage name of Jack Clayton, a Sheffield-based artist, who is a songwriter and performer. He draws inspiration from various genres like punk, garage rock, disco, and 60s pop, but presents his music in an electronic format. Formed during the pandemic ...Jacques says of his origins "Frankly, I was down and didn’t really care what I got. A girl who I loved very dearly had broken up with me prior to this lockdown, and I was being pathetic and feeling sorry for myself. I remember a tiff in which I was called “Wet Man”, a term I had used for indie rock musicians in the 2000s (*excluding the Sheffield band obviously) for lacking depth and character. I was upset by said comment. After all, I am half working-class (at least I tell myself this), but I probably deserved it. To cure my woes, I would entertain myself by trying to recreate late 1960s garage and psychedelic rock using synthesisers, much like the Nuggets compilations but shit.....I always wanted an alter-ego-type act. I was an avid reader of my uncle’s Marvel Comics collection growing up (specifically The Amazing Spider-Man 1-522). John Peel championed the band playing their first single ‘flies / contrix’ on radio 1 in late 1979. This was followed up by second single ‘world in action’ in June 1980. John Peel played this single to death over the next couple of months, even coming up to Hornsea to play a gig with the band. The band continued to play locally for the next couple of years and were chosen in 1983 to perform on BBC television programme ‘Bubbling under’ focusing on unsigned bands. The band split in 1984 and the various members went on to play with other notable groups / singers including ‘Everything but the girl’, ‘Felt’, ‘Denim’, Nik Heywood, Orange Juice, and the Monochrome set. | 1:48:48 (MP3 | Pop-up)

The Serfs |
Bodies In Water
![]() |
Single | Future Shock Recordins | 2025 | The Serfs are a deliberately nebulous and incidentally industrialist gang of dance-floor hymners - perturbed and tranced-out troubadours whose sound and musical ideology seems to be a causal manifestation of their immediate environments. Like their Ohio predecessors, The Serfs seem askew from the art that surrounds them, and proud of it. This new single hints at a different, more gentle direction but again...who knows where Serfs goes? | * | 1:57:11 (MP3 | Pop-up) |
