Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

Listener comments!

 11:10pm
Joe:

Hello, funkmaster Davies. Feeling garage-y today, I see. Bueno.
 11:16pm
efd:

spoke too soon, Joe!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that any minute now, there will be a comment that references Drillbit Taylor.
 11:19pm
C:

Thanks for the go-go!
 11:21pm
meg g.:

evan--whuts shakin??? how was your easter weekend?? did you do anything kewwwwwl??? i went 2 c DRILLBIT TAYLOR,,,i loved it!!!!! yesterday i went to a special dinner,,have a kewwwl show,,,,,,,
 11:22pm
efd:

right on time!
 11:24pm
J P:

douchemaster is my curse word of the week
 11:24pm
Joe:

I guess every bar has it's regulars.
 11:25pm
punk:

that was an amazing exchange.
 11:27pm
C:

Ha-ha. This may even top "Hillary in the House":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knBNX_evIOo
 11:27pm
punx:

whaaat?
 11:28pm
Droll:

I thought Go-Go was a hip hop style from the DC-Baltimore area. Whatever, I'll pledge another $100 if you shut the McCain tune off now... Or make it bed music. Whatever... [John McCain whispered like it's some Cirrone record?!?!]
 11:29pm
C:

You're right, Droll. I posted kind of late. It was for Trouble Funk, pure DC go-go right there.
 11:30pm
Dee Snyder?:

SAME! same same saaaaame!
 11:30pm
Droll:

Okay -- another $100 to stop butchering Twisted Sister. Do they get out paying royalties because it's political speech? Is there also some "For those who support Barak, We Salute You"?
 11:30pm
Greg from Detroit:

don't ignore Detroit Octane's "Simply Barack Obama-sistable":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPLtotzqH0M

there's a "making of" too
 11:31pm
dave:

up next: the corpse of bon scott with "highway to hillary"
 11:31pm
Charleton Heson:

Twisted Sister Obama?

You magnificent bastard!
 11:38pm
Joe:

The best part of this McCain video so far: the older woman's pants being partially erased by the blue-screening or green-screening or whatever so she looks like a fully corporeal torso on a pair of legs that look like they're trying to be teleport away somewhere less embarrassing... but can't quite make it.

I'm not so sure this is a genuine piece of unintentional hilarity... it might be an intentional spoof, or maybe even a half decent attempt by the DNC at going viral?
 11:41pm
C:

You might be onto something, Joe. Maybe Obama's camp is behind the virals. That would explain the McCain and equally damaging Hillary video. I thought the Barrack one was pretty good.
 11:45pm
Sybil:

Hi EFD!

Happy baseball season! (6 hours and 15 minutes to go!)
 11:48pm
efd:

haha, thanks Sybil! if I didn't have to go to work tomorrow ( and if I weren't going to be up until 3am) I'd consider getting up at 6am to watch the game!
 11:55pm
punkrawk:

I don't really understand why you are playing this.
 11:57pm
Laurie:

I don't understand your not-so-creative spelling of "rock."
 11:57pm
punkrawk:

oh, I thought I was listening to Z100 for a minute.
 12:05am
Jill:

black mountain = bong rip time.
 12:08am
adam in chicago:

sweeeeeeeet black mountainnnnnnnnnnn
 12:08am
meatwad:

the bong has been ripped.
 12:11am
Droll:

[Whispering to punkwark] I hear ya. "Love in the Year 3000" is an anagram of "Ahoy, Evil Teen 3000"!
Oh shit! Can they see this?
 12:11am
zo:

bonghits? oh okaay
 12:13am
Joe:

You guys have been spinning the shit out of this Dirtbombs record, not that I mind, of course, but why no Gories?
 12:40am
E.I.P.:

I like this set. It doesn't feel like a Monday anymore.
 12:52am
Laurie:

re: The Heavy. First time I've heard this band! Good stuff :)
 12:57am
adam in chi:

@Laurie: agreed, that was good stuff

EFD, got a label for The Heavy?
 12:58am
efd:

whoops, just added - it's Counter.
I know they're on myspace somewhere, a listener mentioned that when I played them a couple of weeks ago.
 12:59am
efd:

anybody want to look up the html entity for the degree symbol?
 1:00am
adam in chi:

found em: http://www.myspace.com/theheavy73
 1:02am
John:

See, now last week you hinted you'd play "Shannon," but Wire's nearly as good. Great show!
 1:03am
adam:

° should work
 1:04am
Sybil:

wanting has nothing to do with it:

& 176 ; if & deg ; doesn't work (no spaces)
 1:05am
Laurie:

option + 0 on macs, but I have a feeling Uncle Ken doesn't spend our donations on shiny macs.
 1:16am
Laurie:

Goodnight, EFD. Goodnight, WFMU listeners.
 1:16am
efd:

such a helpful bunch! my listeners rule!
 1:16am
efd:

goodnight, Laurie!
 1:16am
John:

Springtime Mama's cool too. I can't seem to find my copy of The Best of Henry Gross, so I'm counting on you...
 1:18am
John:

He coulda been bigger than Andrew Gold...
 1:23am
efd:

oh, i wish! i would have much rather heard "Springtime Mama" at the beginning of all those episodes of Golden Girls I watched...
 1:30am
Droll:

I can't get no -- Old Man! It's a Stones-London mash-up!
 1:32am
John:

www.henrygross.com (with five seconds of seriously loud home page music, heavy rocker that he is). Who knew?

Actually a song about a dead dog would have been a really funny opener for Golden Girls.
 1:33am
efd:

i don't think Betty White would have approved.
 1:35am
John:

"animal lover that she is" --Gene Rayburn and/or Brett Somers talking about Betty every damn time she was on Match Game and there was a pet-related clue
