Listener comments!

  9:12pm trouble & luck:

sounds great mike! fab alice opening track, all is wwwwwwell
  9:16pm Lupica:

Thanks, T! It's an honor to have you in the audience this evening. I'm raising a glass to DJ Icepak right now.
  9:19pm dave:

take THAT, social distortion.
  9:20pm Laurie:

Oh, how I've missed Lupica.
  9:21pm dave:

ditto.
  9:44pm dave:

my sole hope for humanity is that in some distant future, a cultural anthropologist unearths trailmix's 'you make lovin' fun' remix. as a result, some small corner of future society gets entirely the wrong idea about fleetwood mac and, by extension, our society as a whole.
  9:45pm Lupica:

Dave: I support your enthusiasm for this ambitious future.
  9:48pm dave:

well, y'know, i'm a dreamer, but i believe it's important to aim high.
  9:53pm Spankyflop:

Has anyone else noticed that tis is totally rips off The Dukes of Stratosphere's "My Love Explodes?"
  9:54pm alan:

maybe ELO will straighten out the future society, and right that vessel

p.s. i think you were 2yrs ahead of me in ryerson. '93-ish... eh?
  9:55pm Toast:

Yep, couple of people mentioned that on the Kelley Stoltz post from the FMU blog.
  10:06pm slugluv1313:

omigosh it's THE MIKE LUPICA PARTY MACHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10:08pm g:

man, if you think there's a lot of weirdos wandering around Phila now, you should have seen 20 years ago
  10:08pm Laurie:

I was a teenage girl in the nineties, and I liked Luscious Jackson. So did every other girl on earth. It's true!
  10:09pm dave:

philadelphia is like the bowery to me. it's one of those places that seems to be always mentioned in a sentence that begins with the phrase "I got my ass kicked in..."
  10:11pm lance:

How great to wake up to live lupica!
I don't think I've ever heard 'Set it Off' before 3am before. So many conditioned responses. Mostly I want to go back to bed.
Dave-
why wait for the anthropologists? We should invent our own alternative Mac histories now. I prefer to imagine them as a polygamist cult. Oh, wait...
  10:21pm dave:

i'm not sure any of us mere mortals have the capacity to reimagine fleetwood mac in quite as useful a way as trailmix does.

this is a man who, in an idle moment, pulled a copy of Rumors off the shelf and said, in effect, "Today I shall invest Christine McVie with The Funk." And lo, he did invest Chrstine McVie with The Funk. and it was good. It'll take generations for the reverberations of that simple act to be fully felt. And by the time they're done, we can only hope that all the charity thrift-shops hosting copies of the original album will have long since been reduced to dust.

oh, and i'm totally takin' a ride on heavy metuhl.
  10:23pm Joe Walsh:

Is this THE Mike Lupica - the FMU DJ Lupica - or is it that Daily News sports hack? Coz the REAL MIKE LUPICA would have played one of my classic songs by now.....or sang one live with a backing band like some drunken Sunday nite in Hoboken
  10:28pm g:

Fleetwood Mac are just plain good. Trailmix stands on the shoulders of giants.
  10:57pm dave:

oh dear god. that july 4 concert is

to.
die.
for.
  11:04pm Tom:

It's Luuuupiiiiiiicaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!! great seeing you on .. hope ya Saturday night is hopin' dude- great show .. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11:22pm Laurie:

I've never heard of or heard The Vile Cherubs, but I like this a lot!
  11:26pm Lupica:

Laurie: Vile Cherubs are AWESOME. Mid 80s DC band, future members of Nation of Ulysses and Citay! (Tim Green). This CD I'm playing is from about ten years ago, but I heard their stuff just got re-issued again by some Aussie label. If so, it's totally worth tracking down!
  11:30pm Listener Michael W.:

So so great to hear you on the air, Mike! And is it just all the excitement or did you actually say something about Sonic Youth gigging with The Feelies?! In the words of the "Quiet" Beatle - it's all too much...
  11:36pm dave:

what's the nice little loop playing behind mr. lupica?
  11:37pm dave:

ah, well, that answers that.

likeee.
  11:47pm Laurie:

Mike, I guess I have to re-evaluate how I feel about Irwin! Steely Dan is bad news.
  11:59pm Ike:

Agreed, Laurie. But then Irwin is always a crazy-ass chop suey of horror and wonder. Like delicious snow peas and gristly horse blended together. Meanwhile, Mike's show is beautiful news, like a big plate of salt-and-pepper prawn. Uh oh, I made myself hungry.

I'm so sad... I broke my iPod click wheel ribbon while trying to replace the freakin' battery. Gotta wait forever for a new one. And until then I'm stuck with an ancient cranky cassette Walkman at my new job on a digital slave ship, where the sound card doesn't work. Apple, you SUCK! Next time I'm buying Korean!
  11:59pm dave:

i'm pretty sure that dorky "wooooOOOOOO" at the end of that jonathan kane is me.

man oh man do i loves me some jonathan kane.
  12:36pm lenny:

...good show and I agree with the other listern about the opening track[Alice Coltrane]...being away from things dose has its advantages/smile/Leny
  11:23pm Kramer:

Thanks for the fine show to accompany this cheez.
