Michel Foucault:

“There are more ideas on earth than intellectuals imagine. And these ideas are more active, stronger, more resistant, more passionate than ''politicians'' think. We have to be there at the birth of ideas, the bursting outward of their force: not in books expressing them, but in events manifesting this force, in struggles carried on around ideas, for or against them. Ideas do not rule the world. But it is because the world has ideas... that it is not passively ruled by those who are its leaders or those who would like to teach it, once and for all, what it must think.”

steve weir:

you're cracking us up! YES, the Gov. is like some mission-based non-profit guy gone evil. Really liked "lawn honkey" too!
  8:37pm
Ike:

The Pseuperpower Pseu theme is back! It's the best theme to anything ever! Or at least since "Goldfinger." Time to celebrate in my hovel while the visiting cats growl at my cat and chase each other up and down the hall. Also, "Lawn Honky" is the best song title ever.
  8:39pm
Catfish J Rivers:

I loved the theme as well.
  8:40pm
Gummy:

*BLURP*
can you play some scatman crothers?
  8:40pm
Catfish J Rivers:

This track reminds me of the radiolab thingy, "sometimes behaves so strangely"
  8:40pm
Mark:

My holiday: made a giant slow roast chicken wrapped entirely with bacon and stuffed with apples...I also re-re-discovered Facebook.
  8:41pm
Catfish J Rivers:

Facebook is run by the CIA and Dept of Defense
  8:42pm
Dean:

It used to be forbidden in NJ to pump your own gas. No longer?
  8:42pm
Catfish J Rivers:

Yer not sposed to
  8:43pm
pseu:

hey, you know WHY they called him SCATMAN, right?
  8:43pm
Mark:

Yeah...I was gonna ask the same NJ gas question...
  8:44pm
Don:

Hi there Pseu! Listening here from the Philippines.. Nice show.
  8:44pm

  9:11pm

Wow. Silence has never said so much.
  9:12pm
Jerry:

i've been reading 2666 by Roberto Bolano
  9:14pm
reformed Catfish:

I'm reading Fingerprints of the Gods
  9:15pm
pseu:

that's fascinating guys, what are the books about?
  9:17pm
Jessica:

Its so piece time, at my house.
Yea, it was a [couple of days before] Thanksgiving to remember, with the husband and the freak out with the stacking up and throwing of large pieces of furniture, and the rending and tearing of dresses and boots, with an OH NO HE DI-INT aria and some girls and boys in uniform as chorus.
Then I cooked for 20+ people and had 6 houseguests, and practiced my Norwegian. Then spent all day in the ER and took 3 days to fill out 3 pgs of forms, atrociously.
Sh*t's disorienting, I tell you what.
  9:17pm
Jerry:

so far ( i'm about 150 pages into it ) it's about 3 literary critics trying to track downa a reclusive German author ... it has a nice bit about an artist who cuts off his hand to make a "self portrait" :)
  9:17pm
jessica:

[late to the topic/peace ref. sorry. typing speed s l o o o w ouchdammit]
  9:18pm
Ike:

Wow, I love this Koushik. A bit like Chapterhouse.

Pseu, since you mention Katie Couric, I recently saw her on HD. She looked hideous and bony and terrifying, with a shrunken head covered in pasty makeup. HD is weird. Sometimes the lighting is like a really clear, colorful security camera. And yet, now I want an HD set.
  9:19pm
Jessica:

Yowza. Bolano is moving up two spots, to the top of the TBR list.
  9:22pm
david:

a little "my brother woody" mixed in, i like that
  9:22pm
reformed Catfish:

is the didgeridoo because you think we're high?
  9:30pm
pseu:

so, Katie Couric cooked dinner for 3 literary critics who were trying to track down a reclusive Norwegian houseguest.
  9:33pm
Jerry:

another book suggestion : Salmonella Men on Planet Porno: Stories by Yasutaka Tsutsui :)
  9:36pm
Jessica:

She served the Salmonella Man a hideous, pasty singing dog?
  9:37pm
reformed Catfish:

nectar of the dogs is awesome
  9:38pm
Somebody:

If you were going to write a biography about Katie Couric, what would you title it?
  9:38pm
pseu:

Public Colonoscopy: The Katie Couric Story
  9:40pm
Jerry:

hahah
( high 5s to Pseu )
  9:42pm

  9:53pm
annabelle clark:

i think kate couric is sooo over rated!!! has anyone got special holiday plans???
  9:54pm
pseu:

I plan to have one less of your posts right about now.
  10:05pm
Jessica:

I plan fo find out where the feck my money snuck off to while I was busy having [my hand taken apart, if not all the way off Bolano-style, then put back together], last yr, while not having one iota of a notion that omg wtf. And then I'm getting it back if I have to pull it out of a bunch of 20-something-yr-old's noses.

Which is the title of *my* Couric-oire, when she gets to that never-coming-back-from-it Michael Jacksonian state. "A bunch of 20-something yr old Noses: how to be perky when your neck flesh twists like jerky"
  10:12pm
HotRod:
