¡segundo comentario, bieeeen!

hola, liz!

(finishing up an email for u)
  12:07pm
Duke:

Perfect eyebrow plucking music!
  12:13pm
gerardo:

my god!

with these enormous amounts of 60's dated records around, we could set up a planet the size of the earth!
  12:14pm
Liz B.:

Hey everyone, happy Monday!
  12:15pm
annie:

it is officially spring, regardless of phil's stance.
  12:15pm
gerardo:

(e-mail just sent ;))
  12:22pm
Dan:

Great show, keep it up. Happy Monday to you too, Liz.
  12:23pm
Ryan:

This Adam Payne record is awesome!! Best album I have picked up in some time
  12:24pm
Eric:

Every song is a scorcher!
  12:32pm
nyc:

This Mark McGuire song sounds inspired by 'Dancing in the Dark'.
  12:34pm
Liz B.:

What's the most horrifying thing you've seen on the subway or bus? This morning I saw a lady plucking her eyebrows... ick!
  12:35pm
nyc:

Must've been the third commenter.
  12:36pm
Joe:

Sweaty 200pound man fight. That is to say, there was about 400 pounds of man involved, between the two of them.
  12:36pm
annie:

horrifying?: conversely, my sister used to carry a piece of string around with her, pull it out of her pocket and dangle it out of her mouth to keep people from bothering her on the subway... worked like a charm..
  12:40pm
Liz B.:

Nice tactic your sister has, Annie! A WFMU DJ I know sometimes plows through large crowds by moaning a monotone "ehhhhhhhh" loudly, as if deranged/rabid/mentally unstable.
  12:41pm
elvie:

how do i get this mark mcguire album? did we already accu-cover this? sorry, if so!
  12:42pm
Bad Ronald:

I have observed an inordinate amount of egregious digital proboscis action! Yuck!
  12:44pm
Doug from DC:

A rather large woman passed out at my feet on the Metro once. I'll be generous and assume she was sick (although it looked like she was on something).
  12:45pm
matthew:

Good luck getting any of Marks stuff if you miss out in the first few days it pops out in hand to hand fashion.
  12:47pm
annie:

i saw a woman get hit by a car on mass avenue near american university. it was horrific; she landed in front of our van.

Hey, got any Ned Sublette singing cowboy songs?
  1:12pm
Griff Dog:

hmm, that Kono Michi was nice.
  1:18pm
(mta) Tony:

As an MTA employee, I cannot pass up the opportunity, Liz, of filling you and your listeners in on what happens on buses and subways. The most horrific things happen, it's true, but to see them is something else. I've seen the result of a human bowel movement on the rear steps of a bus. I thought he just had a deformed body the way he was bent over like that! I've seen a tampon change with the old one left for all to enjoy. I've seen hypodermic needles, crack pipes, and puddles of urine along with way too much vomit to speak of politely. How about body parts? My buddy found hands and an arm. What happened to the rest of him? Then there's the both disabled AND mentally challenged woman who had fit requiring the assistance of all the passengers to quiet down. I personally witnessed two people enjoying coitus right there in a seat! The most beautiful and horrible things happen on the buses and subways and I've seen just about it all. Next time you see someone plucking their eyebrows, remember how much worse it could be. Sorry if I ruined anyone's happy Monday, but Liz asked for it. - Tony
  1:21pm
Liz B.:

Oh poor MTA Tony... no one should have to witness that stuff! You could write a book about all of those horrors.
  1:26pm
Doug from DC:

I have a friend who does rail maintenance for Metro. When there are suicides or other accidents on the track, they have a special car with high-pressure hoses that they use to clean up the tracks after most of the remains have been removed. He's had to drive this thing before a few times, at least once to clean up the remains of a co-worker.
  1:34pm
Liz B.:

This is all just terrible! Let's go in a different direction. Name your favorite people who sport 'do-rags (du-rags?).
  1:34pm
annie:

'splain
  1:35pm
(mta) Tony:

Thanx Liz. All was true. Sad part about it is, like your previous poster said, these are common occurrences on on buses and very many MTA employees see these horrors regularly, with many having to clean up the blood and other remains. It's pretty disgusting. When you go to other cities, these things don't happen. It's only in NEW YORK that the system allows this behavior to exist. The garbage that's left in buses and subways is staggering and utterly disgusting. The animal riders who have had no proper child rearing are the perpetrators of these things. No culture or civilization was taught to them. Not even animals shit where they eat but working for the MTA revealed some humans are lower than animals. And I've got 10 more years of this horror 'til retirement. Of course, there are many benefits which is why we stay. - Tony

Joe:

Little Steven! Also, the guy I buy my weed from.

kind of a toss up.

  1:53pm
Liz B.:

  1:54pm
Doug from DC:

"Does it Offend You, Yeah"
  1:55pm
Joe:

My friend's little brother is in an atheist metal band called Cruci-Fiction
  1:55pm
Liz B.:

I think Dumpster Juice is a good band name! Just disturbing enough.
  1:56pm
Bad Ronald:

Yeah def that one DfDC.

I also find "Barenaked Ladies" rather weak...
  1:59pm
Doug from DC:

There's a local bar band here called "Full Minute of Mercury." Why, I don't know. Does this make sense to anyone?
  2:00pm
gerardo:

that reminds me of a short film i saw @ film&arts (latin version of bravo channel) when cable tv just arrived home: "conjurer of monikers"

(btw: thanx (mta) tony, for your account)
  2:03pm
dc pat:

DfDC, is that barometric in nature?
  2:05pm
stingy d:

  2:06pm
Bad Ronald:

Yeah I'm wondering if the full minute refers to:

The Planet
The Element or
The Singer...
  2:08pm
Doug from DC:

I have no idea, a friend and I were just ragging on them recently. I think Cerebral Ballsy is pretty funny, but I like bad puns.
  2:10pm
still b/p:

Chemical reference -- and maybe also to
the movie Mr. Roberts, in which Ensign Pulver (Jack Lemmon) has proudly created a jumbo crazy firecracker with fulminate of mercury. Big sudsplosion in ship's laundry.
  2:12pm
Bad Ronald:

Chicken Edward
Diet Christ
SexPotPie
The New Mister Wong
The Low Hanging Fruits of the Loom
Uncle Bills Lunch
Ded Skakels
  2:12pm
Doug in DC:

If that's true, then it's a worse pun than I can handle.
  2:13pm
annie:

Bad Ronald:

"Death Cab for Cutie" is an unimaginative name for a band.
  2:23pm
Parq:

I always wanted to see a real life band go with Roddy Doyle's fictitious suggestion, "And And And". And while we're at it, how do DJs annouce tracks by !!!?
  2:23pm
thecleef:

A band I 'battled' with was called Fallopian Dudes.
  2:23pm
dc pat:

  2:31pm
stingy d:

  2:32pm
Doug from DC:

pat, it hasn't been Chris booking for a long time, he sold the place a year ago. Scott V. is still booking remotely (for now), and he's the one who's been bringing all these great bands.
  2:34pm
gerardo:

i love this Syclops track, i don't know why!
  2:34pm
Parq:

There was a British The The and an American one. I think it was the Brit one that got signed. And I knew of two different bands called the Four Skins.
  2:35pm
dc pat:

well shit, I was just there (seems like) talking to him before an Old Time Relijun show (another dumb name). Guess it was over a year now. I knew he was selling but didn't know it went down... that's what kids'll do to you. kids these days!
  2:36pm
dc pat:

how about JFA - Jody Foster's Army? god they were great....
  2:36pm
Liz B.:

Ha ha, I am oddly attracted to the Syklops track myself, crazy space disco... it's Maurice Fulton of Mu.
  2:38pm
Bad Ronald:

  2:38pm
stingy d:

  2:39pm
Bad Ronald:

  2:41pm
