  12:01pm
Pearly Sweets:

I pose this question... Does JoJo really END bw's show... or does he begin Liz's show? Hmmm...
  12:02pm
annie:

i'm really bad at pop quizzes.
  12:03pm
Pearly Sweets:

Well... if you were taking NOTES....
  12:04pm
annie:

can you bring it up to american education standards and make it multiple choice??
  12:05pm
stingy d:

hey liz! was you were wearing a wig and a zebra-not-zebra skirt? you confused me if you were. but anyway... ws great last night. and always interesting to put faces to the names and voices
  12:06pm
Pearly Sweets:

A. Starts Liz's Show
B. Ends BW's Show
C. Interprets Clay Pigeon’s Show
D. None of the Above
  12:07pm
Jay from Scotland:

Synchronicity: this is what I want to listen to. The "Kill Shaman" label? Do I know them?
  12:07pm
Glenn L:

B. Unquestionably.
  12:07pm
Liz B.:

Hey Stingy, that was me in the wig and zebra (I dressed up as Keili for our duet). Tried to say hi but realized I may have been too incognito.
  12:07pm
sugarwolf:

aw, I am sad I missed seeing stingy d!
  12:07pm
marty:

howdy liz......
  12:08pm
annie:

i know, i know!!! E. Other.
  12:09pm
Liz B.:

Hi everyone, and thank you SOOOOOOOOOO much for making our Marathon such a success! You da best!
  12:10pm
dc pat:

say, what happened to the live video feed of the finale you all use to do? To pricey?
  12:12pm
dc pat:

I mean "Too pricey"...hope Ike didn't catch that...
  12:12pm
Liz B.:

The live video feed had many problems (lag, hangups, limited viewing space, crappy video quality). We figure it's better to just post good quality videos on the blog after the fact.
  12:13pm
stingy d:

yea, i had been drinking, and felt like you made a mental lunge-not-lunge toward me to say hi, and i felt all, 'who's that little person in the funny get-up, seems familar, strange.' and then i put it together but by then, was too late.

sugarwolf - at least we got to talk on the phone once or twice..
  12:15pm
stingy d:

YO NOT FOR NOTHING I'MA GO EAT SOME BREAD OK
  12:16pm
dc pat:

probably a good call
  12:17pm
Pearly Sweets:

Dash it all, Annie! We are never going to be able to win the Brain Brawl!
  12:17pm
stingy d:

thats fucked when you go to eat some bread and your bum roommate ate it
  12:21pm
postmanpaul:

pearly sweats, you're funny ;) i'm smiling like the fool in the comment asylum!
but this is home.
  12:22pm
stingy d:

yo paul - ike is gonna get you. be careful.
  12:23pm
stingy d:

oh shit, lord of lords, by the way, i found a mozzarella bar!!!! let's go!
  12:24pm
postmanpaul:

ike is a very nice man, he smiles at me.
  12:25pm
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  12:25pm
annie:

ok, pearly, then: B!!
  12:26pm
annie:

back at ye pat........ sent!
  12:27pm
postmanpaul:

stingy, are you ruminating and masticating again? good.
  12:27pm
stingy d:

really? he follows me with his weapons out
  12:27pm
Pearly Sweets:

The comment asylum is the only thing that keeps me sane during the day. If I can't make a quick quip between the daily drudge I’d probably become a real heel at work.
  12:27pm
Ike:

In fact, I am smiling a lot today.
  12:28pm
stingy d:

i prefer feasting and beasting
  12:29pm
annie:

ike, you all put in such incredible energy pulling this off...consider my hat tipped in your direction..
  12:30pm
Nate K:

Love this Spider Bags song. Glad to hear it's getting some spins.
  12:31pm
Ike:

Energy? Me? I didn't do much this year, seriously. If I had some engineering skills then I could REALLY help.
  12:32pm
Pearly Sweets:

I am currently writing the copy for a website for a customer named Liz whose business is on Berg Street in Ontario, NY. Creepy coincidence. Or Coincidently creepy?
  12:33pm
postmanpaul:

ike, we all doff our worn weather-beaten caps to you.
  12:33pm
Pearly Sweets:

Nevermind I read it wrong. It is Berg ROAD. Not Berg Street. Now it just doesn't make any sense.
  12:33pm
annie:

pearly did you have to wait til this afternoon to write that? ;)
  12:35pm
Ike:

But here's an idea: Let's brainstorm a volunteer grassroots marketing campaign for FMU for when the booster transmitter goes on. Go!

For instance, maybe some corporation can donate some billboard time (they'll get a tax break -- better than leaving it blank if they're not getting any business) and somebody with Banksy-type skills could decorate it with a giant 91.1. Etc. etc. etc.
  12:37pm
annie:

is there any idea what this monstrosity will look like?
  12:37pm
postmanpaul:

liz, john peel is smiling at you...
  12:38pm
Parq:

Ike is a great guy, and I missed him last night. And while his modesty is admirable, those of you who have the impression that he gave his all and then some during this marathon would be right.
  12:40pm
stingy d:

all i know about ike is that he makes remarks to correct my remarks. but i love anyone who gives themselves for the greater good, so thanks ike! i like ike.
  12:42pm
texas scott:

i like this station
  12:42pm
annie:

that's hard to tell scott... tip o the hat to you as well..
  12:43pm
stingy d:

i also have this article about the best grilled cheese sandwiches in ny... i think we should go to these places.
  12:44pm
texas scott:

that's funny annie
  12:44pm
annie:

i've always wanted to go on a tour of all the "nick's diner"s
  12:44pm
still b/p:

Everyone's comin' with tool belts, safety glasses and local beers to trade around when it's booster buildin' time, like a barn raisin', right....right? Happy, shiny, solder-burnt, cable-pullin', tower-monkeys of honor, risk and cheer, right?
  12:45pm
Sean Daily:

Communists? I hope they ain't preverts. Only thing worse than a Communist is a prevert. I hate those preverts and their preversions...
  12:46pm
dc pat:

AH, singy, what's the name of the grilled cheese joint?
  12:46pm
Parq:

Tex, aren't you a first-time pledger this year? I *love* first-time pledgers; welcome to the cult. Don't know what level you pledged at, but whichever, you are going to love your swag. Even the bumper stricker hits a new high this year.

Sean, I guess that's your prerogative.
  12:47pm
Ivan Touchski:

Sean, come over here and let me fondle!
  12:48pm
texas scott:

thanks,parq...i pledeged a mouseful!!!
  12:48pm
BC Sterrett:

I just pledged $360 today, I wish I could've done more.
  12:49pm
Parq:

Oh Tex, good luck narrowing the 50-some DJ premiums down to a final list of 7. Every year, I pretty much have to toss coins.
  12:50pm
Doug from DC:

Stingy, you've identified my lunchtime issue. I'm still looking for a place in DC where I can get a grilled cheese sandwich AND a cup of tomato soup for lunch. This seems so basic, I've searched all over with no luck at all.
  12:50pm
texas scott:

tell me about it!at least we have a week to decide before we get the bill...
  12:51pm
annie:

doug, nick's diner in wheaton!!
  12:52pm
stingy d:

there's many...
Gilt - Palace Hotel 455 Madison
Joe Jr's - 482 6th ave
Resto - 111 E 29th
Artisanal - 2 Park Ave (at 33rd i think)
Bouchon Bakery - 10 columbus circle (timer warner bulding third floor)
Il Gattopardo - 33 w 54th
Big Daddy's Diner - 230 Park Ave South
Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop - 175 5th Ave
  12:52pm
BSI:

Doug;
Stoney's has the Grilled Cheese thing down to an art form, but dunno about the soup issue. (P street 'tween 14th & 15th)
  12:53pm
dc pat:

yeah, but which is the BEST? I don't have time to try 'em all..
  12:53pm
BSI:

anyway; I get back from an early lunch and what's all this about Communist Perverts?

Is it Communist Pervert Day? Fully awesome! I have waited for this moment.....
  12:54pm
Parq:

Eisenberg's is in my nabe, and it's a thing of beauty - so much an old-time NYC lunch counter you'll think it must be landmarked. Incredibly, it's still hanging in there, in a nabe that is otherwise entirely taken over by chain-mall outlets. You'll find it in between a Lucky Jeans and a Jamba Juice - 'nuff said.
  12:54pm
stingy d:

oh... wellllll.... i dunno, i guess i'll go them all and then tell you.

in the meantime go to the mozzarella bar on the northwest corner of 56th and madison
  12:55pm
NS Andy:

Hi Liz-
Not a regular to the commenting scene.

Congratulations on your brilliant performance last night! Thank you for all of your hard work!

I have a question- just trying to understand how bad or not bad the outcome of the marathon actually was: The Sysiphus picture indicates that FMU fell $933,000 short of the goal- but the marathon message below it says only $133,000. That's quite a difference. Do you know which is correct?

Thanks!
  12:55pm
Doug from DC:

Yeah, BSI, too bad Stoney's moved. They used to be right near my office. It's "Communist Preverts," though. You spelled it wrong.
  12:56pm
Yakov Smirnoff:

In Soviet Russia words mispell you.
  12:56pm
HotRod:

I can't believe we have to wait a whole year for another Hoof!!!

Liz and Keili killed it last night!

xoxo!!!
  12:58pm
Parq:

DC, don't agonize over a city-wide effort to eat at "the best". That's such a subjective notion that you'll never get a satisfactory answer. Pick the ones in the nabes you'll be visiting that aren't chain-mall crap, and that present a vibe you'll dig. The food quality will follow.
  12:58pm
Ike:

HR you were great!

As for grilled cheese, hmmm, some of these places are in WAY expensive areas. Are we talking about $15 grilled cheeses or what? There's *always* an enticing list of the best version of SOME dish on the Chowhound site -- I might stick to the Asian snacks in Chinatown and Flushing.
  12:58pm
SmokinJ:

Got a light?
  12:58pm
dc pat:

NS Andy: I think yer reading Sysiphus backwards.
  12:59pm
Parq:

Miss HR, you killed last night. And, as Ken noted, you did it without a lyric sheet.
  12:59pm
dc pat:

well singy said "best" I thought there was some clear winner.
  1:00pm
NS Andy:

OOPS!. Thank you DC pat.
  1:00pm
BSI:

Communist pre-verts and Grilled Cheese -- with all that goodness, who needs the soup?!?!

...and Stoney's P Street location may not be the awesome thing it was, but the "special grilled cheese" is still a thing of beauty. A plate o' heart attack that glows yellow in darkened veins... So much cheese, so few years to live...
  1:00pm
HotRod:

Thanks Ike!!! And thanks Parq!

Where were you last night, Ike???
  1:01pm
hmmmmm grilled cheese:

used to pretend to be sick when i was a kid so i could get that delicious grilled cheese for lunch.
  1:01pm
texas scott:

anyone know when the finale will be posted?

hello,HotRod!!!
  1:02pm
annie:

oh, no!! don't tell my mom!!
  1:04pm
postmanpaul:

is that a tap-dancing donkey accompanying Payo Grondona? awesome.
  1:05pm
singy d?:

gilt - $30
joe jr's - $4.50
resto - $12
artisanal - 6 choices btw $13.50 and $16.50
bouchon bakery - $12.75
big daddy's - $7.96
eienberg's - $7
il gatopardo - $18
  1:05pm
Doug from DC:

Parq, it's not the best I'm looking for, just the combination of the soup and sandwich. This is the perfect lunch, since it's healthy and bad for you at the same time.
  1:06pm
texas scott:

i like grilled cheese sandwich
  1:06pm
Ike:

HR, I couldn't make it for several complex reasons, but I stayed tuned in! Thanks for asking. And that's a great P.J. Harvey song! Good choice!

Wow, Stingy, if you pay $12.75 for a grilled cheese, then are you living up to your name? Heh heh.
  1:08pm
dc pat:

looks like it's going to be joe jr's
  1:08pm
Sean Daily:

This Florcita Motuda song is... disturbing...
  1:08pm
Doug from DC:

I just noticed that I'm not showing up on the pledge map. Is this unusual?
  1:09pm
BSI:

....although now that a new curry place has opened 1 stinkin' block from this keyboard, lunch choices are a lot simpler.
.....addictions make life simple, yes?
Two curries with rice $7, plus a decent samosa, $9ish. ahh...
  1:11pm
annie:

BSI, i'm gonna work where you work..... wow..
  1:11pm
stingy d:

i'd spring for the eisenberg if i were you pat. and ike,
  1:13pm
dc pat:

Oh, so when pressed, the truth finally comes out:

Eisenberg makes the best grilled cheese in NYC!!!

Doug from DC: Whaddaya mean, you're not showing up on the pledge map? Did you pledge via web, or another way?
  1:18pm
dc pat:

hey I saw Arrington on Friday night with the Homosexuals. He plays a mean solo "jews harp."
  1:18pm
postmanpaul:

Jose Perez de Arce's Oiyanosoiyo is a palindromic error.
  1:19pm
gerardo:

u played almost everything i sent to you!!! :D

when will we see yesterday's videos? - u and keili sounded great
  1:20pm
stingy d:

e-mailed you a possibly interesting thing liz
  1:21pm
Jeff M:

Every year there's this cognitive disconnect the day after a Marathon, when everybody's back doing regular airshifts. It always feels to me as if all the staff and DJs should be off on vacation for awhile recovering -- just turn the station off for a few days. But I guess the point was to avoid that...

Some pictures from last night:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jbm0/sets/72157614775620975/
  1:23pm
Doug from DC:

I called in a pledge and gave my address so they could send me the bill.
  1:24pm
gerardo:

you're right, postmanpaul

more than an error, it is a faux palindrome. almost all songs and titles on the album are written like this
  1:25pm
HotRod:

This is INCREDIBLE!!!

Hey Doug from DC, we don't place points on the Marathon Map for phone pledges unfortunately, but feel free to head over there and represent!
  1:29pm
BSI:

HotRod is right...
That Ken shot is a winner for so many strange reasons...
  1:31pm
Doug from DC:

Thanks, Liz, I'm on the map now. Not at my exact location, but close enough.
