  1:39pm
north guinea hills:

all things kompakt are fun, from ambient stasis, to pop dance floor tunes, and clinical funk four to the floor
  1:41pm
Cecile:

you got it, ngh. I got dragged into the whole mess with Oxia's "Domino" and stayed to check out a whole bunch of other people.
  1:43pm
gerardo:

so the label-oriented-to-a-specific-style scheme is still working?...
  1:49pm
Cecile:

for them, at least.
A couple of metal labels are pretty consistent, too. I like a lot of stuff on Relapse, and Candlelight UK.
  1:53pm
Liz B.:

I think that Ghostbox is a really solid label for a nice variety of electronic tunes.
  1:56pm
Danne D:

this song makes me feel like I'm getting work done :)
  1:56pm
Cecile:

I'll have to check that out.
Some of my favorite folk-psych things are on Holy Mountain. And Soul Jazz, great reissue label.
  1:57pm
gerardo:

i see...

months ago, i was talking to a friend who's running a netlabel here just about that, and thinking about that scheme in labels related to electronic music in the 90s (mille plateaux et. al.).

your opinions are refreshing and enlightening :)
  1:57pm
jess:

Hey, no fair changing the info in the playlist before I get the info on that song.
  1:58pm
BearJaw:

What's playing in the background right now?
  1:58pm
gerardo:

if you're interested in checking out: www.púeblonuevo.cl (my friend's nl)
  1:59pm
Jess:

It means, "The cat meows, the dog barks."
  2:00pm
Cecile:

oh, dang, I'll miss 'em, but there's always the archives.

thanks gerardo!
  2:00pm
Liz B.:

Thanks for the translation, Jess!
  2:05pm
~L:

This Oorutaichi sounds really good!
  2:07pm
gerardo:

thanx, jess

i agree with L - btw, do these guys sing and dance in their shows?
  2:08pm
Liz B.:

Oorutaichi is just one guy, and yeah, he dances around, sings, twists knobs, juggles a laptop and all kinds of pedals and effects boxes. His other band has 4 members, Urichipangoon, and they have some vids up on youtube.
  2:10pm
dentron in denton:

The animated videos are very entertaining.
  2:12pm
Liz B.:

  2:17pm
Liz B.:

  2:21pm
gerardo:

i'm extremely surprised - there's a very rich, fluid, and relaxed dialog between jap folk and western approaches, really cool!. could you ask him about that, liz?
  2:24pm
Ted from Baltimore:

Liz -- Jimaji has been my fave song evah since I got my copy of "Insert Coin Here". Loving this set -- thanks so much!
  2:25pm
Parq:

Harumph. I had to go away from my desk at what turned out to be exactly the wrong time. Oh well, I am digging the tail end of this engaing little music box gone haywire.
  2:31pm
Liz B.:

Right on, Ted, so glad you're digging the set!

  2:43pm
Liz B.:

  2:46pm
~L:

  2:47pm
GP:

Finally sitting down long enough to listen, ...and more important than that...FINALLY getting to hear Liz again.
Hey Liz...did Texas treat you right?
  2:47pm
still b/p:

Oorutaichi -- now THAT was music to digest tortilla soup by.
  2:48pm
Cecile:

now this para's a little fusiony for me.
  2:49pm
Liz B.:

Thanks guys, Texas was fun: tiring at first and after the WFMU showcase it was tacos, BBQ, and more music. The 80-degree weather didn't hurt, either!
  2:49pm
gerardo:

a little, cecile?

this reminds of a chilean band from the 80s, called Cometa (send more info on them soon)
  2:51pm
still b/p:

I was thinking just a degree, and not a wide one, from your smooooth jazz favorites.
  2:51pm
gerardo:

to start with: http://rockchilelatinoamerica.blogspot.com/2007/10/cometa-cometa-1988-chile.html
  2:52pm
Cecile:

I'm trying to be diplomatic here, guys.
  2:52pm
GP:

10-4 Liz,, I told them to make it worthwhile for you ; )
Glad you had a good time.
  2:58pm
gerardo:

"jazz fusión" is nothing to be ashamed of, cecile, lol

i spent more than 10 years listening to that, till i learned the music' schemes ;)
  2:59pm
Joe Steele:

Sooo considering going.
  3:00pm
Ted from Baltimore:

Liz -- what was that Osaka compilation you mentioned when interviewing Oorutaichi?
  3:11pm
Liz B.:

There are 2 great Osaka comps:
Hard Marchen in Osaka (http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2007/03/hard_marchen_in.html) & Osaka Invasion
