Probably I heard that Circus Maximus tune on FMU when it first came out!
  12:09pm
Parq:

Dang, 'Rene, haven't heard that Circus Max in like forever. Ah, Clay's here, no wonder we're hearing music from my high school days.
  12:09pm
Carmichael:

Hi Irene & Clay! Here's to a musically and financially prosperous show.

Oh, I never actually heard any of Wayne Shorter's newer stuff, sounds pretty good so far (and I don't expect it to get worse)
  12:35pm
Irene:

Wayne Shorter is transcendental. He's especially good live. I love his recent music!
  12:52pm
pierre:

you can love Irene and Clay at the same time

  1:10pm
Sean Gostage:

Dear Irene and Clay,
This is one of my favourite tracks you have played, super nice!
  1:10pm
Irene:

Wish I'd been out for something more exotic like a trip to Scotland. I had a little surgical thing I needed to recover from. Scotland is definitely on my list of places to see.
  1:11pm
Dale from North Dakota:

How do I apply my already existing pledge to your drawing, Irene? I donated last week (Clay, I own you, lol) and remember something about being able to do that.
  1:13pm
Sean Gostage:

Irene,
When you come over, I will personally escort you and Peter up north form where I live where you can stay with my Uncle in Fort William, you will love The Highlands
  1:13pm
KM:

the clientelle album is indeed great, I won it from stan's show during last year's marathon

should you ever make it over, spend some time in Skye, then go see alan and get another live set recorded, it's been too long since the last!
  1:14pm
pierre:

Your uncle live in Fort William !!!

  1:15pm
Ismael:

I thought M was Messina, of Loggins & Messina.

  1:17pm
Gordon:

Irene's "You'll See Me in Your Dreams" premium — with music beds tranquil enough to sleep in — is yours for a pledge of $75.
  1:20pm
PMD:

@Dale, I think you just call up and let the call screener know you are applying it to that. Or you can do the same online.
  1:23pm
Vicki - DO or DIY on WFMU:

want some more Angel Delight, Kacy?
  1:23pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Meh, it was easier just to donate again, lol
  1:24pm
PMD:

@Dale, that's the spirit!!!
  1:25pm
Jonathan Skinner:

Hey, Irene (& Clay Pigeon),

It's Bowdoinham (pronounced like "Bowdoin" College, plus "ham") in MAINE, not Massachusetts!

I still love your show. Irene, your music makes the Maine winters dream-worthy . . .

Jonathan
  1:25pm
PMD:

Clay and Irene - promote the pledge for life... We need more people todo that. (I am one)
  1:26pm
Liquid Kulak:

Maine is historically a part of Massachusetts.
  1:28pm
Carmichael:

Boy, this sounds hauntingly like Nick Drake!
  1:28pm
A. in Essex Co. NJ:

Clay, don't sit out the next break. We love to hear ya. Just put yrself on a timer! Ha ha ha! Set it to go off after x min. (whatever you choose) and when it buzzes, you stop talking and hand it over to Irene! ;)
  1:33pm
Jonathan Skinner:

Well, Liquid K,

That's the view from Massachusetts. Obviously, Mainers have a different perspective. For a good history, see Colin Woodard, The Lobster Coast . . .
  1:33pm
still b/p:

Well...(with one separation preceding the other by 44 years) like America is historically a part of England.
  1:35pm
Liquid Kulak:

We're going to take back the Potatonland even if it means WWIII. We need expansion room!
  1:35pm
Irene:

I have a particular love of Maine. My mother was from the Portland area, and I still have relatives in the Skowhegan area. Spent many summer vacations there, especially in Falmouth-Foreside, where my grandparents lived. Their road ended in a perfect little cove on the sea.
  1:38pm
Liquid Kulak:

I've heard I don't know how many foreigners say they want to move to Maine because of Spaulding Gray.
  1:40pm
Anonymous:

How many foreigners have you heard say they want to move to New Jersey because of WFMU?
  1:40pm
elodea:

really like the incredible string band
  1:43pm
Vicki - DO or DIY on WFMU:

I have wanted to move to New Jersey because of WFMU, as have a number of friends
  1:43pm
Jonathan Skinner:

Glad to hear it, Irene! Drop in for tea in Bowdoinham, the next time you visit! (Clay Pigeon, you can take "tea" in as many senses as you want here.)
Liquid Kulak, I'll believe it when y'all stick around for a winter (& all that entails--gotta go bring in some more firewood now) rather than just show up for Spaulding Gray "perfect moments."
Yrs in vacationland . . . I love the ISB too! Thanks again, Irene . . .
  1:48pm
Liquid Kulak:

This winter has been so rugged that I'm emboldened to think that I could make a Down Easter.
  1:48pm
zax:

GO VIX and PETER!!!!
  1:48pm
Vicki - DO or DIY on WFMU:

ha ha
  1:52pm
Jonathan Skinner:

You'd love it, Liquid K,

Wish I could show you the frosty view out the window . . . Though I hate to break it to you that one's grandparents practically have to have been born in Maine to qualify as "Downeaster" (you're still from "away" if you were only born here; I am most definitely from "away"). Irene might qualify, though . . .
  1:52pm
PMD:

I'm glad you're asking for $1 million. If you don't ask, you don't get (most of the time)
  1:53pm
Danne D:

Julie is awesome :)
  1:53pm
Danne D:

(or course Irene and Clay are awesome too) :)
  1:55pm
Liquid Kulak:

Jonathan... did you ever see Maine's greatest Pop Stars... Crank Sturgeon and Id M Theftable? Two great ambassadors for the state of Maine.
  1:55pm
Yair Yona:

Hi Irene,
I can't listen to the show because I'm in class, but I'm watching the playlist and it is brilliant.
good luck with pledging!

  1:58pm

In the minority, I think, but looking for MORE snow and extended cold for a trip next week to a Maine woods neighborhood further north from where I am.
  2:01pm
Sean Gostage:

Sorry folks, couln'nt resist this, bottom of the third, Mets 2, Nationals 2, I profusely apologise for introducing sports into this wonderful pleferere of music
  2:01pm
still b/p:

I caught Id M Theftable at Frantasia Out Music Festival summer before last. He twisted and crinkled a plastic water bottle.
  2:01pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

Thanks for the Wisco shout out!
  2:04pm
Liquid Kulak:

still b/p... Did Id M Theftable bring his hot plate to Frantasia and treat the audience to the aroma of fried spit?
  2:04pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

Yeah! ON WISCONSIN! Super super thanks for all you do from this here Swag For Lifer!
  2:06pm
A. in Essex Co. NJ:

What's up with Clay's fixation with laxatives? He often mentions that out of nowhere. Grodey. And kind of hilarious. Maybe I shouldn't ask.
  2:07pm
still b/p:

My eyes, nose and ears missed it if he did.
  2:07pm
Dominick Costanzo:

Miles and Poco isn't so far fetched. Miles was instrumental in getting The Byrds their Columbia Records contract
  2:08pm
hamburger:

wow, for an assassin of john lennon this ain't half bad :)
  2:11pm
Maria D:

Thanks, Irene! Always listening here in Athens, GA
  2:20pm
djspidermanZ:

relaxin in the bath after work on a monday to your great show Irene has become a ritualistic pleasure for me , great to hear you and Clay together, luvatcha long live WFMU,I love the marathon but i have a problem , i want to spread my pledge (T shirt 50$)across my three favorite shows, Billy Jam, Irene Trudel and MR fine Wine,, hmmmm?,,,if i make it 60 $ thats an easier split but how can i do a three way big up?
  2:21pm
Irene:

You can sprinkle your pledges around to different shows. we'll just bill you in the end.
  2:23pm
djspidermanZ:

Brilliant , thanks Irene ,
  2:25pm
yair Yona:

And REM
  2:25pm
yair Yona:

And REM
  2:25pm
Jonathan Skinner:

Thanks for mentioning Crank Sturgeon and Id M Theftable, Liquid Kulak! Yes, yes, some of the bestest of strange Maine . . . and there's plenty more where that came from! (Just learned Crank Sturgeon will be performing down the road on March 12th.) One learns something every day, on WFMU. One of the reasons we all love WFMU! (Heck, I've thought of moving to NJ on account of WFMU . . . and I live in Vacationland.) Been loving it for 20+ years . . .
  2:26pm
A. in Essex Co. NJ:

Yeah, if all yr pledges total $50 or more then you get a t-shirt. Splitting them up is OK. You can split them into increments of $15 or more, I think.
  2:28pm
Liquid Kulak:

I produced a DVD of a Crank & Theft show. Those two are eccentric even by Maine standards.
  2:30pm
martha mother in law:

Yay! just did my pledge!!! Hoping for Tinarawin :))))
  2:30pm
Carmichael:

Regular civilians always marvel at my vast WFMU T-shirt collection. Looking to add to them again this year, and I'll be wearing them every pledge day.
  2:31pm
martha mother in law:

Hey, No Martha Washington jokes!!!
  2:31pm
Carmichael:

El Cerrito in the house! I'm right up I-80 from ya, Martha.
  2:32pm
martha mother in law:

Yay!!!! EC united :)
  2:33pm
martha mother in law:

No, there is a computer pledge... from moi!
  2:34pm
Jonathan Skinner:

Do we need to indicate that we're splitting our $15 pledges across several DJs, or do volunteers automatically wait till the end of the week to add 'em all up? (& when to we indicate our t-shirt size?)
  2:34pm
Looms:

There's a computer pledge from me too!
  2:34pm
djspidermanZ:

cheers for the info , just laid my first pledge , great tingling feeling, WFMU pumps love , giving some back feels great.viva the pumpolution
  2:36pm
Carmichael:

Tim Schmitt is from Sacramento, and used to live across the street from me as a kid.
  2:38pm
Asparagus:

Does Clay have peanut butter in his mouth or is he starting to sound like Casey Kasem the more this goes on?
  2:40pm
Liquid Kulak:

Irene is eating the peanut butter, Clay is her puppet.
  2:40pm
Danne D:

Recommendation to serial pledgers: tell the caller (put on the web card) that it's part of larger pledge. That'll help the pledge card and database slaves out. They'll figure it on their own if you don't say this, but it is a help to them.
  2:40pm
A. in Essex Co. NJ:

@Jonathan, they will add them up for you if you choose "bill me later" and send you a swag selection form w/the bill. Maybe if you are paying by credit then add a note (?) mentioning you will be pledging a few times... maybe Joe McG. or somebody in the FMU office can clarify on that; I could be wrong.
  2:41pm
Irene:

If you split up your pledges just let the phone volunteer know or indicate it in your comments. We'll take care of the rest.
  2:42pm
A. in Essex Co. NJ:

Oops I spoke too soon!

GIVE CLAY DECAF :) :) :) ha ha ha
  2:47pm
djspidermanZ:

good idea Danne D,, i wish i'd not forgotten to remember to think of that when i pledged (i will do it on the next one) .maybe my bath was too hot and lobstered my brain a bit.
  2:49pm
Danne D:

They are very good at getting the serial pledgers together, djspidermanz, don't worry :)
