Listener comments!

  12:07pm Carmichael:

Hey hey, Mr Rekkid Man. Don't forget the Flying Lizards' euro cool version.
  12:08pm dc pat:

BAD RONALD!!!
  12:08pm Carmichael:

Bad Ronald!! Go, man, go!
  12:09pm efd:

"Three Chord Joe" is fantastic!
  12:09pm Cecile:

Any chance of you sliding on the Flying Lizards' Money?

Hehe, Carm.

My favorite Kinks rocker!

Bad Ron! Go on with your bad self!
  12:09pm dc pat:

I actually recognized Bad Ron's tune..was just listening yesterday.
  12:09pm Brian in UK:

Ice Cold
  12:10pm dc pat:

I think I have to third Flying Lizards verision
  12:11pm Cecile:

Suede care tips from the Kinks: "Gotta brush my boots..."
  12:11pm dc pat:

turtles or chesterfield kings??
  12:12pm dc pat:

oh
  12:13pm Carmichael:

This is the Turtles. I actually have most of their LPs and 45s. Scary thought...

Hey Cecile! I remember the Lizards as an intro to a show about money on Second City TV.
  12:14pm Joe B:

Money Talks with Brian Johns!
  12:15pm Carmichael:

That's it, Joe!! Played by a young Eugene Levy.

And this song was written by Boyce & Hart for the Monkees.
  12:15pm Cecile:

I remember it on top 40 radio! It was the awesomest thing ever.

Why, Carm? Battle of the Bands is one of the greatest underrated albums ever. And it killed most sampling in hip-hop. Not so great, but proof of its power. Handle with care.
  12:17pm Carmichael:

I love the Turtles' sound. My wife's cousin used to date one of them, the bass player I think. They came from just up the Interstate in Grass Valley.
  12:22pm Terre T:

@ efd Agreed- Bad Ronald "3ChordJoe" is great! As is Joe's show!! ( Home sick today---but at least i get to listen live to Joe!) And I can't wait to get Joe's "Lost" shows cd premium available now!
  12:23pm Cecile:

The Turtles are as California to me as cool jazz and the Beach Boys.
  12:24pm Carmichael:

Absolutely, Cecile.
  12:24pm Cecile:

aw, tanks, Joe
  12:24pm dc pat:

I kind of knew that but wanted to point out that the Kings did a pretty similar versoin
  12:34pm Tony B. from JC:

There. Take your dirty money. Better you than my creditors.
  12:38pm Danne D:

Terre T feel better! Take care of your voice! Tea and honey (is there such a thing as vegan honey?) and soup for you!
  12:41pm Listener Stiff Joint:

You following this? Belock, you rule the roost!
  12:42pm Danne D:

Cynthia is awesome :)
  12:43pm Carmichael:

Nice work, Tony B.
  12:44pm Danne D:

Everyone that's seen Joe Belock at a rock show in the area needs to pledge to WFMU. How will you be able to look him in the eye the next time you see him at a venue like Maxwell's if you haven't done your part and pledged?
  12:45pm Listener Stiff Joint:

Yes. Yes, it is I.
  12:46pm Bruce B.:

Done.
  12:49pm Kneel Peart:

Mr. Stiff - don't forget to check out the DM3 at Maxwell's on March 20.
  12:50pm Cecile:

I was in that situation at a college station (not CBN). I was the only one who was eventually allowed to bring in her own records and dump the playlist. I had the weirdest shows (not that weird) on that station, and the MD said, "you can do what you want. You're the only one who follows the format and knows what the hell they are doing."
  12:51pm Cecile:

so what Michael and Joe say is 1000% true.
  12:52pm Cecile:

REM's 3rd album and tour were amazing.
  12:58pm Cecile:

Guys, stress how generous are you with the swag. If you pledge elsewhere, you get a coffee cup for $100.
  1:03pm 1mckrs:

I agree.
  1:05pm Ken:

Doesnt SOMEBODY want to adopt Joe Belock???! http://www.flickr.com/photos/wfmu/sets/72157603873576097/
  1:07pm Danne D:

Seriously, Joe is even housebroken! And you get all kinds of great stuff with your mouse-level donation. And you'll feel good about yourself.
  1:08pm northguineahills:

@Cecile: Fables of Reconstruction?

(i have a tee from that tour, no I wasn't there)
  1:08pm Cecile:

I have adopted a board and have spread loads of $ love. I'll let others step up...
  1:09pm Cecile:

What's in the water for the old folks? The new Faust album was great, Roky, Andrew Williams...and all these other records...

Yes, that's the one ngh. It was great. Their last sustained good album, I think.
  1:10pm Skirkie:

A certain other NY station's giveaways are structured like this:

$60 - New Music CD. Just the one, probably has David Gray on it.

$100 - That first CD plus a Live Music CD

$120 - No longer get the first CD. You get the second on and a T-shirt.

$240 - 2nd CD, Shirt and Spin Magazine?

$365 - They will send you 6 commercially available CD's during the next 6 months, you don't get the shirt anymore.
  1:12pm Skirkie:

You don't choose the commercially available CDs by the way.
  1:15pm Carmichael:

I adopted the live music sound board, and I've thrown roughly $500 to the cause.

Someone adopt Joe! Or at least *adapt* him.
  1:21pm 1mckrs:

I agree.
  1:22pm Cecile:

Later! Rock on, ya'll
  1:23pm Carmichael:

Play some Billy Joel until someone pledges. Andy Breckman would do that.
1:31pm Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

.... or Ken would play Bob Dylan Christmas album .... oh maybe he gonna go a passover or Easter one on the way ....
  1:31pm fred:

And next year someone will be able to play Andy's rendition of one of his good friend Don McLean's song until someone (most likely Andy himself) pledges at least a mouse. Don't miss the Hoof'n'Mouth folks!
But first: pledge and make all threats moot!
1:32pm Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

... sounded like Surf on QLudes ...
  1:40pm Bad Ronald:

Hey, I missed my tune. Thanks for the kind words folks and especially thank you Joe - Vive FMU. (wish I had more scratch to funnel your way).
  1:45pm fred:

Show your love for Joe and the station: for less than a dollar a day, you can get one of the last copies of the 3 Chord Monte T-shirt from 2005. Then you can retire you well-worn original (or pretend you got it then and seriously impress people at gigs)
  1:45pm glenn:

http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2011/02/the-kinks-reissue-seven-albums.html
  1:46pm seang:

baby let me kiss you just a one more time!
  1:57pm Jex:

didn't Martin from Germany pledge earlier to 3 Chord Monte?
2:07pm gumby (aka Greg from Howell):

Always a pleasure to support Three Chord. And I wear my shirt proudly all about the Jersey Shore.
Free From Forever!!!!!
  2:13pm brian riley:

I WANT SWAG!! not NO SWAG!
  2:15pm Danne D:

Gimee Swag :)
I assume there's a chance to correct that later, guys?
Brian, you can always e-mail swag questions/concerns to Joe McGasko, Lord of the Swag:
http://wfmu.org/email.php?id=235&return=%2F is the link to his e-mail
  2:17pm Danne D:

Just finished up a tasty cheesesteak wrap for lunch mmmmmm
  2:17pm Popo:

I am so glad someone is finally taking a stand on the whole wrap thing...?
  2:18pm ADM:

honestly guys for real I had a great wrap yesterday after not eating them for 7 or 8 years at least.
  2:18pm marc:

Michael, whats wrong with carrying coffee in a supermarket? Whenever i go to shop-rite i get a venti coffee from starbucks?
  2:23pm Doug S.:

Back in 1980 I left a suitcase full of LPs on a bus traveling from Valencia to Marabella in Spain. The driver put the suitcase on the next bus headed back and I had the damn thing later that evening. I LOVE spain!
  2:27pm G:

I adopted Joe the year before last, but I like to move my adoptions around for variety. Kind of like with girlfriends. :-)

Joe was no trouble at all to adopt. He changes his own diapers, and feeds himself without assistance. Food and any other ingestibles, I mean.
  2:37pm John:

What dollar pledge would it take for Joe to start a NPR size controversy?
  2:37pm fred:

@brian riley: you will get a swag selection/confirmation in the mail in the coming weeks, were you can fix that mistake.
  2:40pm Cecile:

The King!
  2:42pm Cecile:

WFMU would search for you in the cold Kentucky rain. Return the favor and pledge!
  2:43pm Cecile:

You know Clay Pigeon is singing along right now.
  2:43pm brian riley:

sweet! fred, shanks a bunch!
  2:45pm Cecile:

WHAT? Chicago is not the Motor City. HUNH.
  2:48pm fred:

@brian: and if you don't receive it, contact Joe McGasko (you'll find his contact info on the "about" page)
  2:50pm Cecile:

And the Lita Ford character didn't have a big role in the movie because Lita says they offered her $1 for her rights.
  2:56pm Maria D:

the 70s king is doing me right today
2:59pm Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELOC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
