Question: have you ever kept something (a record?) collectible sealed in the original package because you didn't want it to lose value?
  8:21pm
12539:

Answer: No. The value is in the usage.
  8:22pm
glenn:

i tend to agree with 12539

  8:23pm
12539:

At the same time, I'm grateful when other people have done so with rare old things.

I have about 2000 baseball cards from the 70s that i wish i had preserved.
  8:25pm
glenn:

how about the gum?
  8:27pm
marc:

no 35 year old gum would have been gross.
  8:28pm
bartleby:

I worked in a book store and would ask the guy in the comics department what comic books were new that would increase in value. So I have maybe 20-30 comic books in the back of the broom closet, wrapped in plastic. They may even have kept pace with inflation.
  8:28pm
glenn:

ummm. it's baseball card gum. it was gross straight from taw.
  8:28pm
Skirkie:

Bethany (!) Long time no hear.
  8:29pm
12539:

Bethany, always get two copies!
  8:39pm
bartleby:

I have numerous books for resale only separate from books that I read. I wouldn't purchase a book I wanted to read and then preserve it for some other person to read unless i had a specific reason. Similarly with records but for that all my records I keep for their use value only.

seang:

thanks Kenzo
