I love this song. Thanks Joe :)
  12:11am
Chop Scott:

JOE!
Perfect soundtrack to drink and listen to a drip from the upstairs neighbors...
  12:13am
Joe McG:

Hey, Jeff! Hey, Scott! Welcome to the Mope Fest.
  12:14am
D. Blumin:

Joe, quit stepping on my feet... If you're leading, lead dammit!
  12:16am
KP:

There's thunder and there's this. Thanks.
  12:16am
Joe McG:

Oh, Daniel!
  12:17am
KP:

Oh, gawd. Stop it. Wah!
  12:17am
Joe McG:

Thunderous Orbs.
  12:18am
KP:

I can't believe this.
  12:18am
12539:

Are you okay tonight, Joe? I'm beginning to wonder if Daniel should leave you alone in the studio.
  12:18am
D. Blumin:

Looks like Valentine's came early this year...
  12:18am
KP:

Blew the math question, ruined the mood.
  12:19am
T-Zero:

What's next, Skeeter Davis' "The End of the World"?
  12:20am
Joe McG:

Not a bad idea, T-Zero, but I've got to read the weather.
  12:23am
T-Zero:

Oh! Esther Phillips' "Stormy Weather" lol
  12:29am
Nazerbean:

Going through a breakup... I'm crying you a flood, whoops. Thanks for the heart wrenchers!
  12:32am
Joe McG:

No problem, Nazerbean. I feels your pain.
  12:44am
dursun:

great show tonight
  12:47am
Joe McG:

Hey, dursun, welcome!
  12:53am
Matt from Springfield:

Hey Joe! Great set!
Liking the rock Classical, then jumped up with joy at the original "Ferris Bueller chase song"!!
  12:55am
Joe McG:

Hey, Matt!
  12:56am
Matt from Springfield:

I see this "What Is Beat?" is a vinyl Greatest Hits album, doesn't say whether it was ever brought onto CD, I don't think.

When I found the title of this song, I couldn't find it anywhere--I had a friend look on some of his shiftier P2P networks, and he finally found an MP3 that was obviously taken from an aged vinyl record! I still have that, treasure it as there was no official movie soundtrack (WHY, John, WHY??!!)
  12:57am
Joe McG:

I'm so dumb, Matt, I didn't even know it was used in a movie. It's on a freebie EP with the UK version of the greatest hits.
  1:00am
Matt from Springfield:

And Dub!
Too bad I missed the opening, "For The Good Times", that my grandmother and late grandfather's song. What a great one!

Yeah, they seemed to issue various formats with "March" until the movie made it TOO popular...It was also the B-side of "Jeanette"--so Single File potential there!
  1:02am
Chuck E. Jesus:

this has been some good dub...
  1:02am
Joe McG:

Good to know, Matt! Many Beat singles I be needing!
  1:05am
Joe McG:

@Chuck: Fine moniker, sir. I genuflect in your general direction.
  1:07am
Matt from Springfield:

Genuflect, then go down the slide, and listen to Dubs!
I had beer earlier, but this track has made me break out the WHITE RUM! Silver rum but tastes about good as gold right now! (toast)
  1:08am
Matt from Springfield:

That reminds us...hey Julie! You out there tonight? :D
  1:18am
WFMU comment board:

Please--enough Julie
  1:26am
Matt from Springfield:

YES! I love this one!
  1:36am
Brian in UK:

Hello Joe & co. That second set looks like a belter.
  1:37am
Joe McG:

It was, Brian, it was! I belted the whole thing right out.
  1:46am
Brian in UK:

Hey Joe, ever thought about a show with songs titles that have (bracketed titles)?
  1:47am
Joe McG:

An all parens show? Not a bad idea, Brian!
  1:49am
fleep:

(I Can't Get No) Punctuation
  1:49am
Brian in UK:

Now this is silly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hey_Joe
  1:52am
D. Blumin:

YES!!!
  1:54am
Matt from Springfield:

JP did a pretty popular cover of the Joan Baez 70s song "Diamonds and Rust"!
  1:55am
Joe McG:

@Matt: That's a good 'ne. No parentheses, though, unfortunately.
  2:01am
12539:

(Is this 7" not 45 rpm?)
  2:04am
Matt from Springfield:

YAY for split-band promo singles!
  2:09am
Brian in UK:

Joe, have you considered the February 29th show. It could last all day.
  2:10am
Matt from Springfield:

And YAY for PSAs! Daniel reads those pretty well!
And yes, that is an important one, but really it's just smacking people upside the head and saying "Remember what you're not supposed to do? KEEP ON NOT DOING IT!"
  2:11am
Matt from Springfield:

"SEMA--promoting life, in New Jersey" :P
  2:12am
Matt from Springfield:

You're welcome Daniel! You might want to wait until there are several seconds without lightning, before walking outside.
  2:17am
Joe McG:

This Jazz Butcher makes me think of a good movie I saw recently called "I'll Come Running." An interesting twist on the whole Best Friend's Girl thing.
  2:25am
Matt from Springfield:

Good advice on the weather!

And on films too. I'm glad "Harold and Maude" finally came to my mailbox--I'm going to watch it tomorrow!
  2:25am
T-Zero:

With the exception of Kiiiii, this has been an all male show. (Just sayin')
  2:27am
Joe McG:

I feel terrible about this. I was going to play Ann Peebles during the single file, but I didn't get to it...I'll get some femmes on in the last half hour.
  2:28am
#K:

Hi Joe, um.
Just sticking my head in before the curtain comes down
hope you're doing fine!
  2:29am
Joe McG:

Hey, #K! Curtain comes down sounds so doomy!
  2:30am
T-Zero:

It was simply an observation, not a complaint.

And weather related, a stage collapsed due to weather in Indianapolis during a Sugarland state fair concert so now Iowa state fair cancelled their Sunday show. (No Sugarland performers hurt, but 4 others were killed)
  2:32am
Joe McG:

Wow, that's really awful, T-Zero. I hate when people get killed trying to have fun. Seems especially cruel. (P.S. I usually am better about keeping an eye on m/f ratios. Guess I'm in a "guy" mood toinght.)
  2:37am
T-Zero:

It was rather strange. They were moving people into tunnels under the stage at the time (because of wind, wasn't raining). A bunch of other people were hurt as well.

Re: 10cc, I played the The Original Soundtrack album into the ground back in the day.
  2:39am
Matt from Springfield:

Yeah, it's a shame that happened. Especially because how many people are killing because of lightning and weather each year (earlier noted), then when they're evacuated to cover, the stage collapses! Really terrible.
  2:39am
Brian in UK:

(The Venusians) have been getting short shrift lately on your show' Mr McGasko. A word in Mr Clinton's shell-like.
  2:40am
#K:

I thought doomy was the theme maybe?
  2:41am
Joe McG:

UH-OH, the studio just sprung a leak. Maybe it should be doomy!
  2:41am
T-Zero:

@#K: Did seem like a broken heart theme at first.

@Joe: Heh, my pc must not have liked the female voiced track. The sound cut out except for the last few seconds. lol
  2:43am
T-Zero:

@Joe: You be careful driven' home.
  2:43am
Brian in UK:

Think Joe has passed it on to the weather & listeners, though maybe inadvertently.
  2:45am
T-Zero:

Leaking on any equipment?
  2:46am
#K:

feeling more deluge-y!
  2:46am
Joe McG:

@T: Not yet! Mary's assembling the buckets...
  2:47am
Brian in UK:

On the cusp of (apocalypse)
  2:47am
T-Zero:

There's buckets? I figured trash cans. lol
  2:52am
Matt from Springfield:

Nice, meditative "crunchy" set!
Just make sure the studio equipment floats, so you can keep spinning platters even if you're in several feet of water!
  2:52am
Joe McG:

It may come to that. I'm putting on my water wings right now...
  2:55am
12539:

Thanks for the show, Joe.
  2:55am
tomB:

Who adopted the ceiling this yr?
  2:55am
Brian in UK:

Take care gettin' home, Joe & everyone.
  2:56am
T-Zero:

Take care Joe.
  2:57am
Chop Scott:

Bucket detail on two floors now....but thanks Joe for the decent company
  2:57am
Matt from Springfield:

THE Fanny?! From all your sets and premiums?! What a delight! I'll listen to that one intently!

Stay safe getting home, Joe. A marvelous show!
  2:57am
Joe McG:

Good night, everyone, and thanks for tuning in, as always...Have a great week!
