Listener comments!

  12:02pm pierre:

Bonjour Joe B !
  12:03pm Joe B:

Hi Pierre! thanks for tuning in!

Deniz Tek will be playing LIVE around 12:30!
  12:04pm pierre:

You are welcome, thanks for making great shows.
  12:07pm PAS Music:

Ok we got the earthquake songs now let's get to the hurricane stuff!
  12:07pm PAS Music:

Or possibly songs about Steve Jobs? Well that may have to have satanic references.
  12:09pm SmokinJ:

Mornin' all!
  12:12pm PAS Music:

NICE! Just no Scorpions. :)
  12:23pm Parq:

"Melted Americans" is not necessarily my new favorite band name (I think that place still belongs to "To Live and Shave In L.A."), but it's a pretty dang neat name.
  12:29pm Joe B:

Deniz Tek almost ready to rock! Friday Bell House Saturday maxwells Sunday in Philly! with keith Streng of the Fleshtones and Ivan Julian of the Voidoids!
  12:36pm SmokinJ:

You have my undivided attention jb... 8-)
  12:36pm Swami:

Saw the Melted Americans w/Chesterfield Kings at Maxwell's long long ago. Good times.
  12:44pm John J.:

Big Accumulator!
  12:47pm SmokinJ:

Good Rockin'!
  12:51pm Cheri Pi:

  12:53pm Bad Ronald:

Yes indeed.
  12:57pm Mike Sin:

Nice! Enjoying what I can live... before I get busted!
  1:21pm Waldo:

Birdman was one of the great lost bands -- bridging the gap between the Doors and punk.
  1:55pm SmokinJ:

Terre: You Rock!
  2:02pm Brian C.:

And then… ahem… Along Came Jones
  2:05pm Parq:

Joe, if it's not too late, can I request "Along Came Jones"?
  2:07pm Brian C.:

dang, just noticed "Jones" isn't a Lieber-Stoller joint
  2:08pm Parq:

Turning it up all the way.
  2:11pm Mike East:

Parq - I just cranked it, too. I love that song.
  2:15pm Parq:

I'm confused. (Well yes, but in this instance it's relevant to the conversation.) Every source I'm checking lists "Jones" as a Lieber-Stoller song.
  2:19pm Joe B:

parq, it is! looks like some misinformation here on the board!
  2:29pm Parq:

I am really, really sure that this Doughboys is the only garage rock song I've ever heard with "I've got to go to Sunday mass" in the lyrics.
  2:29pm seang:

this rocks!
  2:37pm seang:

gimme that crack!
  2:37pm Joe Non Papa:

Joe, you're right. Staggering!
  2:40pm Major DeeG'n:

Jerry Leiber was one of the first to name specific foods and street names in his lyrics. Also made sure to use "hepcat" slogans as well. 'Potato chips' appear in at least 2 Coasters songs (I'm a Hog, 3 Cool Cats).
  2:45pm Major DeeG'n:

wow Marlena Shaw's excellent version of this is in a few commercials right now.
  2:50pm paul:

I saw a tweet from Ted Leo (a retweet from Peter Frampton) earlier in the week linking to a Humble Pie YouTube of "I don't need no doctor" which was an Ashford and Simpson song
  2:54pm Nanker de Tucson:

Another fine show today, JoeB!
  10:33am Ralf I.:

You made my day, Joe and Deniz (and the band)
  11:55pm pete f:

you made my day again Deniz
