Listening to your show reminds me of being a kid and listening to WBAI in the run up to the 68 convention, except now I'm viewing the proceedings with equal measures of knowledge and cynicism.

You first have to chosen by a scout for the production crew (usually saying they're looking for someone to be on a game show), sign some waivers, etc... then when they flag down a cab to "take you to the show" you just agreed to be on, it's the cash cab.

And I def. think that too many renters were encouraged to get mortgages a few years back, but there are also lots of predators out there, and there needs to be a way to check and balance them. Either educate people against them more thoroughly, or regulate predatory businesses.

	1:45pm glenn: i left out some of that quote. here's the full thing. - There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody. You built a factory out there? Good for you. But I want to be clear: you moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for; you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate; you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did. Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea? God bless. Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.

I don't want to criticize the Occupy Wall Street people -- let them work out their own action. I don't like maoists or trotskyists or leninists or right wing paleoconservatives very much. (I like Michael Harrington's ideas, not that it matters.) And I bet that the ideologues (and the true crazies) are in the minority out there.
