Listener comments!

  9:04am
Scott:

Good morning, Long Rally faithful!
  9:04am
bruceleh:

Good morning, Scott
  9:13am
Scott:

It's Ragaday on WFMU: Scott and Doug will play morning ragas, Bryce and Kurt will play afternoon ragas, and Rich will play a midnight raga. It's radio that just goes and goes.
  9:16am
clyde stubblefield:

Man- that hipnosis always gets me pumped- I always want to play that and Lee Morgan stuff like that at open jazz sessions- and everyone on stage shakes their head - then someting lame and snooze-like ensues- where are horn players that can actually play lines???
  9:17am
Scott:

ha. yeah agreed, I love that stuff!
  9:20am
Doug Schulkind:

Ah, getting your raga started early, eh Scott?!
  9:20am
Scott:

yup!
  9:21am
Maria T:

Hi Scott! Just tuned in. Donated too! I am sick as a dog but that wasn't going to stop me from giving money to WFMU.
  9:22am
Scott:

Thanks, Maria, that's awesome. Hoping you feel better!
  9:25am
Cecile:

Raga Day is teh awesome!
  9:26am
Cecile:

I think Andy and Frangry should just chant.
It would be better than half their shows.

If you folks have Direct TV, their jazz channel WORSHIPS Lee Morgan. To the point where I've had to turn it off so I still LIKE Lee Morgan...
  9:26am
Maria T:

No prob. The ragas are exactly what I need for lying in bed all day.
  9:27am
Cecile:

I love Shut Up Weirdo, even the bad shows. It's got a trainwreck charm about it.
  9:28am
BSI:

whoa! Just got here in time for THE BROTHERS! Some of my favorite sounds on this particular planet. Yummy stuff.
  9:29am
Scott:

The Gundecha Brothers really get cooking here in a few minutes. Gives me chills.
  9:34am
Cecile:

BSI, do you know anyone involved with the Heliotrope festival in Minneapolis? It's mostly local, but they'll get an occasional out of towner like Sushiou No Fune, or some Chicago bands. I think you would be a good match.
  9:36am
dvd:

Raga Friday is a very good idea! Only getting the stream in one channel, anyone else having this issue?
  9:37am
BSI:

@Cecile: haven't heard of it, but I'm getting 2012 plans in order, so perfect timing! I'll def.check that out.....
Meanwhile: I'm only getting left channel on the stream (flash and 128) - it's not a hardware issue on my side....... weep...
  9:37am
Doug Schulkind:

OK, I'll see your raga and raise two Bollywood mind-numbers.
  9:37am
Nate in Detroit:

@dvd i was just going to ask the same thing
  9:37am
BSI:

....yeh.... what dvd said...... that....
  9:37am
Cecile:

yes, but I've now transcended binaural hearing, ss it's all good.
  9:38am
BSI:

hypnophonic!
  9:40am
Scott:

yeah it's one channel in here --- don't know what the deal is.
  9:41am
Scott:

so it's not the stream. could be the mp3 file I'm playing :(
  9:41am
Scott:

Hopefully not a board ish
  9:41am
Marmalade Kitty:

Great stuff..!
  9:46am
BSI:

well it's one helluva left channel.
  9:48am
Scott:

Not gonna stop us!
  9:50am
Cecile:

Heliotrops has a site - I would contact Erik Wivinus or Rick Barlow. It's the folks from Salamander, and the Pins putting it on. Now I think it's in year 8.

Here's something I wrote about it a while back.

  9:51am
Brian C.:

This tune must have stereo separation like the Ramones first LP. I'm imagining what it would sound like with Dee Dee and Tommy banging away on the right channel.
  9:52am
Scott:

that I would like to hear.
  9:52am
Cecile:

The Brothers Ramone and Gundecha.
  9:59am
BSI:

Great piece on the fest, Cecile. Always good to discover these fests around the country. Need to plan a cross-country trip. Fest-crawl...
  10:03am
Cecile:

thanks, BSI. They are good guys. The scene didn't want them, so they built their own scene.
  10:05am
Chris from DC:

Is Salamander still going? Great band they were.
  10:06am
Cecile:

I don't think so.
Yeah, I'm convinced Bent Hemlock was one of the great albums of the 00s.
  10:08am
Chris from DC:

I thought Birds of Appetite was fantastic.
  10:09am
pgw in mntclr:

Meg!
  10:09am
Jake:

Raga Bilaskhani Todi was the perfect way to start the day. THANKS!
  10:11am
Jake:

Hey Chris. I'm in DC too. NW, near Van Ness metro
  10:18am
Chris from DC:

DC suburb would technically be more accurate for me.
  10:22am
BSI:

what's all the hubbub, suburb bub? what?
  10:27am
pgw in mntclr:

  10:58am

I used to see Leroy Jenkins often at the Park Slope Food Coop.
It's quite a surprise when he's the guy at the front desk asking for your membership card.
Such a gorgeous, gentle face!
  11:02am
paulapc:

  11:11am
BSI:

  11:14am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

  11:23am

Yeah, gramavision in the 80s.
Anthony Davis wrote an opera about Malcolm X, and Avery Brooks was Malcolm - yes, Star Trek's Captain Sisko is multifaceted.
  11:24am
Cecile:

Cecile:

I'm going to doctor a war scene and find a great type face and make the album cover be by "Your True Power Metal Band Name Here"
  11:58am
Cheri Pi:

We're going to be crazy "infomercial" rich!!!
  11:59am
Cecile:

Either that or Diane will take pity on us and turn one of our works into a tee-shirt...
  12:00pm
Cecile:

And by the way, you should post your infomercial on here. It is hysterical.
  12:01pm
Maria T:

Fantastic show. Exactly what I needed! Thanks!
