Listener comments!

  11:57am Lizardner Dave:

Just waitin' for Ken's show to end before I switch streams.
  11:59am Van in DC:

About that time. Hi Amanda and peoples.
  12:01pm Carmichael:

After a self-imposed hiatus, it's back to Amanda's place. Hi everyone.
  12:02pm drr:

Oh cool, just tuned in (via the iphone app) in New Orleans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Amanda:

Hello hello to you guys all! Carmichael, why on earth would you impose such a thing? drr, that warms my heart -- I hope to get back to New Orleans sometime this year.
  12:03pm G:

Your usual show link is not on the homepage yet, as of a couple minutes ago. I got here via Drummer stream Info and then the link to your playlists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Amanda:

Hi G! Thanks for that... I haven't heard from Doug yet today and he is who usually sets that up. (I'd do it, but I am busy...) I'm just glad you found us!
  12:06pm G:

I lied. It's there, but way down under the pledge box and even the 7SD banner, so I didn't spot it. It's usually right under the main stream link to Kurt.
  12:06pm Carmichael:

You don't want to hear my sad tale of woe, Amanda. You don't have enough cryin' towels, believe me. But here I am, hopefully to stay.
  12:07pm EL:

It's Breakfast With Nazario out here on the west coast. Time for coffee #3.
  12:10pm Skirkie:

This. I want this.
  12:10pm Carmichael:

Hey EL, what city are you in?
  12:11pm Adam in Portland:

Nazario's got it!
  12:11pm EL:

Hillsboro, OR— just far enough away from Portland that I never have any fun.
  12:13pm Joe D.:

SUPER MARIO BROS 2 SUCKED. i am still mad about it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Amanda:

Wow, we have a nice Pacific Northwest breakfast convention going here. I am 100% excite.

Joe, that makes a lot of sense to me seeing as SMB2 WAS ALWAYS MY FAVORITE ONE!
  12:15pm EL:

I hated that movie too Joe D!
  12:19pm EL:

Amanda— who was you're go to character? Toad was my guy.
  12:19pm Lizardner Dave:

Hey is there a flash version of this stream or do I have to wait for an archive? My job kindly gave me a new computer and took away admin rights so I can't install winamp or some other program that opens .pls extensions. Grrr....
  12:20pm Skirkie:

I thought this was Toupé, and was about to freak out that you had stuff by Toupé.
  12:22pm Carmichael:

@EL: He he, know what you mean. I live in Sacramento, but used to work for Intel in Hillsboro.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Amanda:

LD -- I am pretty sure there is no Flash version, but I may be wrong about that. If I'm right, I'm sorry (but yes, the archive should be worth waiting for).

EL -- At first it was the Princess, I think because that was empowering for a 12-y-o girl or however old I was to be able to play as a girl. Then after I beat the game I would try to use everyone to avoid getting bored.
  12:28pm EL:

@Carmichael Aw yeah. I live in an apartment complex that resembles Smurf Village by way of Threes Company. Hoping to move into town in 6 months or so. How's Sacramento? You got SS records at least, right?
  12:28pm Lizardner Dave:

I feel sad. I will never hear this show live again unless I happen to be not at work but near a computer on a Wednesday. Oh well.
  12:30pm glenn!:

occupy the comments!!!
  12:31pm Skirkie:

  12:44pm Doug S.:

Amanda, the joy flinger!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Amanda:

Don't feel sad, Lizardner Dave! A means for you to listen live may be something we can work to obtain.

  12:52pm listener james from westwood:

happy wednesday all! conference call over, computer volume goes back up to 11.
  12:53pm listener james from westwood:

will have to hit the archive; haven't heard sigue sigue sputnik in ages.
  12:55pm glenn!:

or 1011.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Amanda:

Welcome back to non-conference-call-land, Listener James! I hope this noise is better than the noise of colleagues arguing.
  1:00pm ndbob:

Hey Amanda and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Amanda:

Greetings ndbob too!
  1:02pm Mike Sin:

Checking in, saying hello, listening live, and enjoying the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Amanda:

Oi Mike Sin -- long time no hear from. Very nice to see you here!
  1:07pm glenn:

amanda, which punk band do you prefer?
  1:07pm Brian en Angleterre:

Hello Amanda, getting minimal with listings, nice.
Which punk band do you prefer, The Ventures or 13th Floor Elevators?
  1:10pm Brian en Angleterre:

glenn the exclamation mark gave you a certain je ne sais quoi.
  1:11pm glenn:

oui. comment ca va, brian?
  1:13pm G:

You're chuffed, even!
  1:15pm Brian en Angleterre:

Tres bien mon ami. Il fait fuckin' froid ce soir.
  1:16pm listener james from westwood:

i have come to a peaceful place re: valentine's day. i let those who dig it celebrate it as they will, even if it's not my bag. just another day for me, but could be quite special for someone else. more power to 'em.
  1:16pm glenn:

disregarding the somewhat mixed message, this is the perfect valentine's day gift for amanda. http://www.manhattanportage.com/blog/?tag=heart-shaped-45
  1:16pm Brian en Angleterre:

A premium solely with twins, now there's a thought.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Amanda:

Hahaha Brian! I once typed "punk" into my iTunes search field and got everyone from Tori Amos to Everything But the Girl...
  1:17pm glenn:

it's a little chilly here too.
  1:17pm glenn:

i will reiterate my view - howlin' wolf started punk rock.
  1:18pm Van in DC:

Okay I'm back from my Mall walk...yippee, still lots of show left :)
  1:18pm listener james from westwood:

ebtg punk?! that's a new one.
  1:18pm listener james from westwood:

you so crazy, itunes.
  1:19pm Brian en Angleterre:

Our library must have a stockpile of 'Country & Western' stickers.

If in doubt file under Rock & Pop
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Amanda:

Welcome back from the Mall, Van!

glenn, my friend Helen loves that Mayer Hawthorne record. When it came out we went together to Turntable Lab in the East Village to find a copy but it had sold out in like half a day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Amanda:

How many of you have ever exploited the fact that "Valentine's Day" has the initials "V.D."? (In a witty card, for example.) Forgive me if that question is a bit blue for a daytime audience.
  1:25pm glenn:

somewhere i have a star of david shaped 45 of the temple city kazoo orchestra doing whole lotta love.
  1:26pm ndbob:

I remember that record Glenn
  1:30pm listener james from westwood:

i used to call it that when i was more actively anti–valentine's day.
hey, this board is global. it's always safe harbor time somewhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Amanda:

This is the best song I have played so far today.
  1:36pm glenn:

did i mention it was blue vinyl?
  1:38pm Brian en Angleterre:

  1:39pm Brian en Angleterre:

Do not wish to sound pious but I will decide when to buy my wife flowers, which I do. VD notwithstanding.
  1:40pm Danne D:

Happy Wednesday everyone :)
  1:40pm listener james from westwood:

the combined valentine's day/presidents day "simpsons" episode is heartbreaking and hilarious. one of the top episodes.
  1:41pm Danne D:

I'm sure you'll have a great Valentine's Day, Amanda.
  1:43pm Van in DC:

I tried to trick the popup flash player into playing this stream, but feeding it this show ID number, but it said NO:

"Error: This show doesn't exist or doesn't have an archive file."
  1:44pm Skirkie:

That's such an older sibling thing to assume the younger sibling will want to do a thing just because you're doing the thing.
  1:44pm ndbob:

great song - ever hear the version by The Orchids?
  1:45pm Danne D:

S'up Skirkie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Amanda:

@Skirkie -- I know, that was a jerk thing to say! My parents are guilty of that mindset also.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Amanda:

ndbob -- yes!
  1:49pm Skirkie:

Engineering all the things, Danne. S'up wit you?
  1:50pm EL:

My favorite Hollies song!
  1:53pm Danne D:

trying to get through my work day fighting some random minor bug - Amanda's show is helping
  1:58pm Van in DC:

Coincidentally, my Mall walk today took me right up to Capitol Hill. Nothing was shaking that I saw.
  1:59pm glenn:

i'm hearin' a j. geils vibe from the inmates.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Amanda:

Ha, they are sort of "boogie-rock" like, on this track at least.
  2:01pm efd:

The Inmates: More than just that "Dirty Water" cover with London references instead of Boston ones.
  2:01pm ndbob:

I need to go... excellent show Amanda! - catch the rest later.
  2:02pm glenn:

wasn't that edgar winter, evan? :)
  2:03pm EL:

Mirror Man naM rorriM!
  2:03pm Skirkie:

I just got marathon phone shifts. I have to suffer through Nardwar twice.
  2:04pm listener james from westwood:

have a good one, ndbob!
  2:04pm listener james from westwood:

i love todd-a-phonic, but i was once on the phone next to him in the love room during the marathon. that man can project!
  2:06pm efd:

@ljfw I brought earplugs for the phone room last year when Todd was my co-host.

@glenn har har. :)

@Amanda (and everyone else) hi! Enjoying the show, but running out to get some lunch now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Amanda:

Enjoy the fresh air, efd!

And that was definitely the Inmates with "Dirty Water," but I don't know if anyone else did that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Doug S.:

This Anderson Johnson track is so amazingly raw. He signed a deal with a bigger label and they had him go back in the studio and record a much tamer version. This is the best.
  2:12pm glenn:

many covers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Water
2:25pm chris from Durban in Cape Town:

Hi Amanda - enjoying the show while getting some work done on the computer - thanks
  2:26pm Danne D:

@Skirkie - don't be dissin' the Nard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Amanda:

No, chris, thank YOU for checking in! I hope I don't drain your computer battery life!
  2:27pm Danne D:

@listener james - true that about Todd :) I had my left ear covered the whole time on phone #1
2:27pm chris from Durban in Cape Town:

electricty here still good :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Doug S.:

Greetings Chris!
2:30pm chris from Durban in Cape Town:

doug - if ya still there - your reference and link to the "vile comments" dont add up - dont see what it is you are referring to - but, agreed, the ongoing decimation of blogosphere not good
  2:30pm Skirkie:

@Danne Hey look, I can't stand Nardwaur, but I'll fight like he'll for his right to be on the air.
  2:33pm Skirkie:

like HELL. Hell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Amanda:

Let's hope "he'll" do the same?
  2:37pm Danne D:

@Skirkie have to agree to disagree Doot Doo!

I won't be there for that, shift, though.
  2:40pm Danne D:

Can't wait to see the DJ teams for this marathon
  2:43pm Van in DC:

Ah, Miss April of 1974 that was. Marlene.
  2:44pm Danne D:

Btw, Amanda, are you singing a song for Hoof N Mouth this year? :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Amanda:

  2:56pm EL:

Have an awesome day Amanda. Thanks for the tunes and croonin'!
  2:56pm Danne D:

Great :) Looking forward to that. Looking forward to the first Amanda premium too.

Anyway have a great day everyone. Thanks for a great show, Amanda!
  2:59pm Van in DC:

Enjoyed the presentation, thanks Amanda.
  3:00pm listener james from westwood:

enjoyed the singalong; one of my favorite songs. thanks, amanda; enjoy valentine's day!
