So glad to be here tonight. The Woof-Mu Dog's tails are wagging...WE MADE THE GOAL BECAUSE OF YOU!
  8:18pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Awesome! The cow is too calm today
  8:20pm
Rynac:

Hmm, what about Beethoven 10, a.k.a. Brahms 1? 8^)
  8:20pm
12539:

My tail is wagging too.
  8:20pm
Robert:

The cow is unconscious from the smoke from the bowstrings in this piece.
  8:21pm
Robert:

I meant the previous piece. Damn these delays!
  8:25pm
G:

Shostakovich's 10th was my first really favorite classical piece. I heard it from student-price seats in a London concert hall as part of a high school music theory course, and the next year bought a Melodiya recording of it in Russia when the American School in London sent us on a school trip there...

Mitten John:

The Mu's tail is actually swatting flies, but happy, nonetheless.
  8:29pm
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Will we make it too 10 no. 10's in this hour? I think I still have marathon neurosis. ;-) Bethany, it is wonderful celebrating with you!
  8:29pm
Danne D:

that Shostakovich was cool :)

I give this show a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 :)

tr:

"My hero, Zero" would make this playlist if it was from Schoolhouse Symphony.
  8:36pm
Van in DC:

Whoa! Wait! There's *classical* music on FMU? Who knew? Much love for this Bethany!!
  8:40pm
G:

And real, interesting classical music, Van -- not just the "FM Lite Classical Muzak" (focus grouped to within an nich of its life) that you hear on most self-designated classical stations, for a good 20 years now....
  8:40pm
Minnesota Jeff:

This is niiiiiice stuff, Bethany! This show will become a go-to archive for me now that I have heard it!

ranjit:

If you run out of symphonies, you can play this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaBYIqMI2uc
Congratulations on wagging the tails!!
  8:47pm
Van in DC:

I'd like to make a request or two, but there seems to be a, er, theme of "10" for the show, so I will just kick back and enjoy :)
  8:48pm
12539:

Will we get the performers listed in the final playlist?
  8:49pm
Van in DC:

If I hear the "voice" of the Gibson ex-Huberman I think I'll recognize it and who the performer is :)
  8:51pm
Marmalade Kitty:

X

Van in DC:

XOXO

Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

The buoyancy in the DJ's voices at this point is such a resounding pleasure to experience!
  8:58pm
Van in DC:

Seeing the tail wag on the main page, gotta tell ya, is simply wonderful. Congratulations to WFMU for that! And this was my first year experiencing the marathon.

That was an hour? Post-marathon bliss and I'm out of breath! So, yes, hang tight and all of the performer/conductor/album info will be added to the playlist. We'll pick up next week with the rest of the Schuman and more 10X10.
  9:00pm
Van in DC:

@MK - I wish I could stay up every week for Julie's show like you all do. Nice seeing you "live" on a playlist once in a while.

Many thanks Bethany!!

Really enjoying the Schuman--I've always liked his orchestral music, and never seem to remember just how much. Happens pretty much every time someone plays him.
