Hiya G, fancy with the musical notes there
  3:17am Glovanie:

it'll just sound beautifully poetic than musical otherwise... that's how i see it anyway.
  3:17am pierre:

Bonjour Julie !
Bonjour listeners !

i'm glad to finally be here, and be able to listen live.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:19am Julie:

Bonjour Pierre! good to see you actually listening :)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:21am Julie:

I have hard to type/pronounce french words coming up soon

The BEACH ?!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:23am Julie:

FVH It was 85 degrees F today
  3:33am fred von helsing:

Just kill me.
  3:38am pierre:

@Julie : well you know that i'm always here on wfmu somewhere… but it's a pleasure, to actually say a proper "bonjour"- i love your show.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:39am Julie:

Merci, mon ami!
  3:58am fred von helsing:

How high is the WFMU World Domination Control Center above the river ? How much ocean rise can WFMU survive ? Hmm, it looks like 43 Montgomery Street is a hop and a skip from the river and it looks like the street is close to water level, so... ya might hafta put FMU on stilts or on a crazy Waterworld raft made outa truck inner tubes.
  3:59am pierre:

Bravo !
I think there should be an "^" on the first "e" in "grêle" wich is the french fo "hail"
— Pierre, your everyday frenchman.
  4:03am Glovanie:

I like this song :)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:03am Julie:

ahem! BravA
  4:03am northguineahills:

Never been awake for your show before, nice.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:04am Julie:

Thank you, ngh! Welcome to the dark dusty corner
  4:04am pierre:

what does "Brava" means ?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:05am Julie:

it is the female version of bravo.
  4:06am fred von helsing:

the speaker is female or the person spoken to is female ? one must be precise..
  4:07am pierre:

i didn't know there was such a thing as a female Bravo. Shame on me.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:08am Julie:

person spoken to is female. It must be Italian, the male ends in O, female in A. (spanish the same I think too)
  4:11am northguineahills:

You made my (late) night (after waking up). Second Fairport sighting on WFMU in 24 hours (earlier, it was Irene).
  4:11am fred von helsing:

Of course in this day and age the idea of only two genders is SO constricting. Bravum!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:12am Julie:

Irene and I overlap from time to time. I love her show.
  4:15am pierre:

would "Bravu" be a special wfmu "bravo/a" ?

aaah… there are few bands that go as well with rain as the fairport convention.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:17am Julie:

Sandy Denny can do no wrong
  4:21am pierre:

this is great it makes me remember when i was a kid i used to hike in the forest, listen to birds, smell the moss, and listen to irish folk band called "the Bothy Band" serious hippie/folk/stuff
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:22am Julie:

oooh I will have to check them out
  4:25am pierre:

It's mainly instrumental, you know pure irish/scottisch tunes, but from time to time you'd have a few song in gaelic, of in old english sung very high piched with choirs. One album i do recommend : "Old hag you've killed me"
  4:25am northguineahills:

Helium, takes me back....
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:27am Julie:

Very uncharacteristic Helium at that!

Hi Julie!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:37am Julie:

Hiya Matt!
  4:38am fred von helsing:

Oh noes our DJ has set the Wayback Machine... we are all doomed to repeat rock history
  4:40am Matt from Springfield:

@FVH: Real rock history--I hear the surface noise (and I think one of tracks was shot earlier in this song)
  4:41am Matt from Springfield:

I take it you've now seen the Moodies...?
  4:42am northguineahills:

Yeah, I don't remember it being 70+ F (21+ C) at night this early in April. It's even warmer inside (being on the top floor). Won't use A/C, though. Trying to get the landlord to fund a ceiling fan for the bedroom.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:42am Julie:

Yes, Matt saw them tonight!
  4:44am Matt from Springfield:

Favorite performance? Any unexpected surprises in song selection?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:45am Julie:

Well you can't beat Nights in White Satin. His voice is still perfection. I talked about it before, there was stuff I didn't know. I need to hit other albums besides my core two! I was surprised they did all their 80s hits.
  4:47am Matt from Springfield:

"Dominoes" always so hypnotic...

Yeah, I never heard most of their 80s material. So it was an education for me, but they did their core 60s hits, aside from "Legend of a Mind" which is the one thing I wanted them to play but they didn't. Still, it was fun to see the original "white hairs" while they're still around!
  4:55am Matt from Springfield:

BANG! BANG! My baby banged the clipboard down!
  4:56am Matt from Springfield:

Well this show is more Nick Cave than Nick Lowe.

Bonjour pierre! Thanks for the Bothy Band rec, that stuff's right up my alley.
  4:59am miss cheri:

hiya julie,,good morning how's it going?
  4:59am kristin:

that mink lungs song was a great find, so super pretty and poppy sweet.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:02am Julie:

Yes Kristin but the lyrics!
  5:03am pierre:

Bonjour Matt !
well then you'll enjoy it, i know it's a childhood record to me, but i still listen to it quite a lot.
  5:04am miss cheri:

ohh julie there's something i've been meaning to ask you---what's it like following dum dum's show?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:05am Julie:

It's fine, but I used to start with symphonic metal a lot and I don't anymore because he plays so much. He's a good guy. (I do miss Woody though!)
  5:09am miss cheri:

well i have to scoot now julie,, sorry so short thnx for your time have a wonderful week!!
  5:12am fred von helsing:

Somebody else played tatu last week, maybe ken?, it was a crazy remix, very good
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:13am Julie:

Ken was kind of obsessed with them for a while, it had to be him.
  5:16am miss cheri:

btw julie have you seen any movies this past weekend?
  5:17am t.A.T.u.:

  5:18am Matt from Springfield:

Dreamy Mira track, I thought this was mid 90s material at first, but it's more recent. Nice and mellow.
  5:21am Matt from Springfield:

Laura Nyro--FINALLY in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame!
And Donovan too!!
  5:22am kristin:

lyrics of mink lungs? i didn't really hear the lyrics! will have to go back and listen - sounds like i missed a big contrast in sound and sense.
  5:23am miss cheri:

sorry to take too much of your time julie,, see ya next week!!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:24am Julie:

yeah there was talking about being hit in the face, it's not like the sound at all
  5:27am Matt from Springfield:

"It's easier said than done" and it's true...
  5:42am Matt from Springfield:

Hey, Gang of Four was a postpunk band from Leeds!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:43am Julie:

Lot of good tracks on that album besides the hit
  5:44am Matt from Springfield:

They're on my radar now!

Though I think they sang "We Live As WE Dream, Alone" -- that title would make more sense.
  5:48am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, also never heard a live version of "Psycho Killer" before! At least not by the original artists.

"The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads"--Ha ha!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:48am Julie:

two records set!
  5:48am Matt from Springfield:

Still out there, pierre?
A French passage is comin' up!
  5:53am Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: This reminds me, you had to cut out quick last week, did you play The Ramones in the last block because of the Scott Williams' discussion earlier that day?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:54am Julie:

@Matt nope played for a friend who had never heard them.
  5:55am Glovanie:

How sweet of you
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:55am Julie:

Thanks so much for listening, guys! See you next week!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:55am Julie:

Everyone needs some Ramones! I need to play them more. And with the songs so short I could play five of them.
  5:56am Matt from Springfield:

That's funny, Scott had his daughter on earlier that day, and commenters were talking about playing punk music to kids. "Beat on the Brat" came up! "Psycho Therapy" of course would be fitting for this show!
  5:57am fred von helsing:

Oh noes! We goes! Thanks vermillion!
  5:57am Glovanie:

Great show as always Julie :)
  5:58am Matt from Springfield:

Thanks for playing, Julie!
Have a great Tuesday all!

@FVH: Thanks crimson! ;)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:58am Julie:

not sure if I like that psycho therapy comment ;)
  12:31pm md:

The Moody Blues quite often play Legend of a Mind live – which, after the death of Timothy Leary they would play a variant of it with lyrics changed to “Timothy Leary lives”.
  4:11pm Spreaders:

First time I've caught your show, awesome tracks, especially Monica Richards. Keep up the good work! Spreaders, York, UK.
