When I hear those Sheena songs I always picture Sheena Easton. As a punk. as a goth.
  5:39am
Matt from Springfield:

It HAS been quiet lately, a show this late is export-driven (ie, international based).
And it's not raining anymore, but I do think it's raining EVERYWHERE too.
  5:41am
fred von helsing:

If it's export-driven then let's get our DJ a subsidy! Write your Congresscritter today!

Matt from Springfield:

"Everybody Else Is Getting Subsidized So Why Can't We?" :)
  5:45am
Matt from Springfield:

I was making my coffee, but able to listen in with my new iPad and the WFMU App! I didn't look at the screen when "Billie Jean" was playing, but Unwoman! That group never disappoints.

Also, do you think the South American set reminds you a bit of the L.A. Paisley sound of the early 80s? It does for me.
Avatar 🦇 5:49am
Julie:

i don't know what that means Matt! Send me some LA Paisley!
  5:49am
miss cheri:

julie ty for being understanding with me this morning,,and i really loved the show!!!

Our DJ is kind and wise and rules over our netwaves with grace, taste, and an insuperable devotion to Incubus Succubus
Avatar 🦇 5:51am
Julie:

predictable yes, but this song makes me feel like a little kid in Texas :)
  5:53am
Matt from Springfield:

I'll look for a representative list of songs and sent it. It's just the underground "jangly" rock scene in L.A. in the early 80s. The Bangles started out in that scene, I think.

Thanks for the Levon tribute! He was the heart of The Band, just feel that voice.

Van in DC:

Why yes, indeed I did go to a record store for Record Store Day. First time in *years* I've been to a record store. Smash Records in Adams Morgen, DC. Spent way too much money, they were packed. Some goth chick gave us an impromptu electric guitar solo...sweet!

I combined the trip with going to Amsterdam Falafel restaurant on the advice of 100% Pure DC Pat :) It was *delicious* !!
  1:35pm
Lynn Lockjaw:

Enjoying the archive, Julie, and yes, ALWAYS room for Cohen ;) Kind of ashamed I haven't got a copy of that album yet >.<
