Now you've done it! If you're going to get into Ummagumma, you have to play 5 Species of Furry Animals Hiding In A Cave Grooving With A Pict.

Hi Andy! This is a record I'm not familiar with at all. It's got some great live stuff on it too.

Careful With That Ax Eugene!
  4:14am
Marmalade Kitty:

The narrow way was a solo effort by david gilmour over dubbing all instruments which he played himself, but it was the only tracks (i ii & iii) on which he sang vocals on the studio part of the album.
  4:22am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Fun fact - When someone from work asks me a question in my instant messaging window, I sometimes type a response of "Ummagumma."

Good show today Julie! Have to go out though, and celebrate International Workers Day - living as I do in the midst of the "Cancer of Socialism"

Hi Matt!
no holiday in uk today. we have a bank holiday next monday, on the 1st monday of may!
  4:47am
Marmalade Kitty:

dissing unions or onions?
  4:49am
Matt frorm Springfield:

"In Our Angelhood"!
The first time I ever heard this, it was a mangled iTunes copy from my CD rip of the BBC Sessions--I should send you an mp3 of that, it's so mangled, but it actually works very well for the CTs! :)
  4:52am
Matt frorm Springfield:

Dis-onion...but I don't, love onions, and always carry Listerine pocket strips anyhow! :)
We never get the holiday today--we're 'mercans dammit, and we prefer constant surrendering to corporate masters in the name of freedom, thank you very much!!
Avatar 🦇 4:52am
Julie:

yeah that sounds interesting, Matt, send away!
Avatar 🦇 4:53am
Julie:

There are, however, a lot of marches today, including musicians protesting the venues that do not pay them.
  4:53am
Matt frorm Springfield:

Since I love dreampop and CTs, I really dig Lush since I've heard them in the last couple years--which albums are good to start with? There seems to be a '91 and '93 album you've played from.

(Sure Julie! I have Dropbox and Yousendit accts now, I try to get it to ya!)
  4:55am
Matt frorm Springfield:

I've know several musicians who perform, some venue owners really are a bitch like that (and every new venue you come across is potentially going to screw you over, you don't know)
  4:56am
Matt frorm Springfield:

May 22nd--World Goth Day!
Make it a new tradition! (Glad you'll be on then, and Bronxelf pt II!)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picts
The Picts were a Celtic people in the Scottish Highlands until medieval times. The present day Scots are a combination of these ancient Celtic tribes, and of the Norse especially in the west and islands.

I think there may only be two albums. I can't recall the other one's name. Bonjour Pierre, plenty of time left!
  5:06am
pierre:

yeah !

Marmalade Kitty:

Astonomy Domine on ummagumma first track, version without Syd.. continued to be popular live song... "a nice pair" double lp, was an opportunity to rerelease piper at the gate with ummagumma. Syd would benefit from this release inparticular.. !
  5:16am
Matt frorm Springfield:

See if you can get this first. If not I'll try a direct Yousendit FTP:

Marmalade Kitty:

any strangelove julie? did you like the albums?
  5:23am
Matt frorm Springfield:

"Landslide" is an enduring favorite--was privileged to see this performed live, by its original songwriter, and original guitarist. They won't be around forever...
Avatar 🦇 5:23am
Julie:

Yes I did..I keep forgetting to bring them in!
  5:27am
Matt frorm Springfield:

Always love the feel of "Carey"! It always had a Greek island feel to it, and Wiki says "It was inspired by her time with a cave-dwelling hippie community in the village of Matala, on the Greek island of Crete."
  5:27am
Matt frorm Springfield:

Watch out for cave hippies when you go spelunking! :)
  5:27am
Simon:

Good morning from the wettest April since records began in the UK. Carey never fails to lift my spirits so thanks for that on a wet and miserable morning here!

Hey Julie I never check in on the comments board, but I'm a big fan of you and your show! Haven't heard you on Dusty in a while, party on!
  5:45am
Matt frorm Springfield:

@Simon: Nice to see the guy from Fields is still out there performing; I love Fields of the Nephilim.

@Julie: I positively thought it would rain here yesterday, but not a drop! Maybe some more today.

Hi Rob, thanks! Clay is doing his Wall Street thing so much these days, but if you miss me let him know ;)
  5:49am
ultimate dork:

for some reason I imagine Julie sitting on a rocking chair when announcing the previous set during the breaks - just the pauses and such.. just me. or anyone else get the rocking chair impression?
  5:50am
Matt frorm Springfield:

I always enjoy you and Clay, at least a few times a year I insist!
(I'll request that he do a chat show in June or so and bring you on)!
Avatar 🦇 5:50am
Julie:

Hmm..is that a reference to my age? Although the studio A chair is quite squeaky!
  5:51am
Matt frorm Springfield:

@dork: It's probably the music box-sound (celesta) of "jibrille-silent mourning". I don't think of it that way, I've listened to the show from its start and it's just a gentle, dark way of back-announcing.

("In a world...of dark shadows and cobwebs...Julie's World!")
  5:53am
ultimate dork:

no just the pacing :)
  5:54am
Glovanie:

hmm... I didn't really see cobwebs in 'Julie's world'
  5:54am
Matt frorm Springfield:

Whaddaya know, now it's raining here too!! My plants will be pleased.

And so a dark, rainy, silent MORNING. Or not so silent, when Marty M. cuts in!
  5:56am
mickthedog:

No rocking chair thoughts here all too up beat for that! Dancin' in the studio.
  5:56am
Matt frorm Springfield:

@Glovanie: That was a quote from Clay, his improv-ed reaction to Julie's bed music! :)

Thanks for another great show Julie! I have that Loreena McKennitt Beltane dance in the first block, when I get into work I'll be happy to hear it!!
