Cheri Pi:

WOoHoo! It's VOIVOD DAY!!!!!
  12:04pm
joe:

'ello folks.
Welcome home DK
  12:05pm
Cecile:

man, they have an old-school sound I like.
  12:07pm
walter roadburn:

goosebumps all over by hearing this new year of the goat track!
  12:07pm
Mr Donut:

Welcome back DK, did you do anything interesting?
Avatar 12:08pm
Kamikaze:

Wow! Sorry 'bout the miscue; no one will complain about hearing that YOTG song twice, though! I am so excited for this show! Thanks for tuning in everyone!!
  12:09pm
Cecile:

is this Goat song part of a concept album? Just asking.
  12:12pm
Cecile:

and the "classical gas" intro!
  12:13pm
Frank:

We love you, Diane!
  12:13pm
Cheri Pi:

this is the bomb.
  12:14pm
Amy:

Cheers Diane! Great, so damn great to have met you.
  12:14pm
Cheri Pi:

it keeps getting better!
  12:15pm
tinaun:

vocals sound familiar.

anyway, this track rules
  12:17pm
lane:

these lyrics are amazing!
  12:17pm
Cheri Pi:

Hey look it's Aesop on drums
  12:18pm
Cecile:

yayayay, Agalloch.
This is all stuff that is awesome to play Valor to. The old "get your spurs on, and your amp on the back of your steed. Time to roam!"
  12:22pm
joe:

I love the whole is does not have to be super fast to be super heavy factor.
  12:23pm
walter roadburn:

i was very pleased to have them on the bill. the backdrop images were utterly stunning, just as the performance
  12:25pm
joe:

@Walter I bow to your accomplishments hopefully I can get over sometime to enjoy it in person.
  12:26pm
Cheri Pi:

I echo Joe's sentiments.
  12:26pm
joe:

Killing Joke is right up there with Thin Lizzy as being one the most grossly underrated bands in the US.
  12:27pm
Mr Donut:

Killing Joke do not seem to age
  12:28pm
joe:

They don't do they. I think it's cause they always looked and sounded so damn intense
  12:28pm
maja:

wow i've missed something
tilburg is 'around the corner' from here
  12:28pm
Mark Williams:

First two KJ records stand up to anyone's debut/follow-up albums, ever.
  12:29pm
Cecile:

joe, except for the city of Chicago for Killing Joke, I have to say that is true. That early 80s chi-punk sound was completely drenched in KJ.
  12:31pm
Amy:

Killing Joke were amazing to see live - I got all choked up with delight as will most likely never see them again. Jaz, Jaz, Jaz!
  12:31pm
joe:

Cecile, yeah totally Big Black, Arsenal and Scratch Acid (although SA was from TX right?)
  12:32pm
joe:

Amy how varied was KJ's set?
  12:33pm
walter roadburn:

@joe, thanks for the compliments.
  12:33pm
Cecile:

yeah, they were from TX.
And Effigies and Naked Raygun, too. That huge, scratchy guitar sound.
  12:33pm
walter roadburn:

@diane, it was great meeting you on saturday at het patronaat!
  12:35pm
Cecile:

walter, sounds like you have a dream job you're great at.
  12:35pm
joe:

Was lucky enough to catch the return of Naked Rayguy this past summer
  12:35pm
Mike Sin:

Workin' at home and listenin' live! Diggin' the recap.
  12:37pm
tinaun:

what is the backing track?
  12:37pm
joe:

I'll have to wait to get home to see them. My company blocks "Beware of the Blog" as being pornography LOL.
  12:41pm
Cecile:

that's a good rec for Agalloch's new one, Diane. I know you're not their hugest fan. Gotta get it.
  12:41pm
Yvonne Maclean/Roadburn:

Thank you for coming Diane! Was great to see you!
  12:41pm
joe:

@tinaun "Mark Of Zorro" by the Challengers
  12:42pm
Florian:

HEY! Sit back and play the MUSIC!!!
  12:42pm
tinaun:

thanks
  12:45pm
Cecile:

they have a name from Opeth and they sound kinda like Witchcraft. I dig it.
  12:47pm
walter roadburn:

@cecile: it's indeed a dream job, but it can be very, very, very difficult at times, too!
  12:47pm
Cecile:

I can only imagine. All those travel arrangements, equipment to be hauled, crowd control. But so worth it, I bet.
  12:48pm
Cheri Pi:

Gawd Farflung are so good!!!!!!!!!!!
  12:48pm
joe:

Look at that electronics rig he's got going on there. I'm digging on the farflung.
  12:50pm
Cecile:

this is pretty great. I get a little bit of an early Ratt vibe from the vocals, which is aces with me.
  12:53pm
walter roadburn:

farflung were really cool; one helluva throwback to early 70s hawkwind, plus parts of chrome and hellios creed thrown in for good mesure.
  12:53pm
Cecile:

who curated this year?
  12:54pm
Cecile:

that sounds primo, walter.
  12:56pm
joe:

Cecile VOIVOD!!!!!
  12:56pm
Amy:

KONG! WOW WOW WOW WOW. I'd never heard them until I saw them blow my small mind. Killer, Killer, Absolutely Killer.
  12:57pm
Cheri Pi:

What Amy said! KILLER!!
  12:58pm
Cecile:

joe, NICE.
  12:59pm
Cheri Pi:

Voivod!!!!!!
  12:59pm
joe:

Yeah broke my heart not to be there. Especially if you go watch the performence of them doing Dimension... front to back.
  1:00pm
rob_atl:

uh, I have a cd long box of this cd :)
  1:00pm
Amy:

Indeed. VOIVOD!
  1:00pm
Cheri Pi:

what Joe said-heart-brokem :(
  1:01pm
joe:

DK when the hell are they coming up to the station? LOL
  1:04pm
BSI:

Blimey. Missed Farflung.
carry on. staying put now.
  1:04pm
Frank:

again: VOIVOD!!
  1:06pm
Cheri Pi:

Voivod!!!
  1:07pm
Cecile:

hahahahaha
I knew that would pull you out of the woodwork, BSI.
  1:07pm
walter roadburn:

@Cecile: Voivod were this year's curators
  1:07pm
joe:

Very Clutch sounding.
  1:08pm
Cecile:

nice work if you can get it!
  1:08pm
Mr Donut:

A real dearth of unamazingness here
  1:08pm
Chris from DC:

Oh yes, Church of Misery.
  1:10pm
Cheri Pi:

OMG, I would kill to see Church of Misery, I can't believe they'll be in the USA at the same time I'll be in Japan-not fair!!
  1:11pm
Cheri Pi:

no pun intended!
Avatar 1:13pm
Kamikaze:

Farflung was one of the bands that topped my list to see. They didn't disappoint at all. So killer! I got sidetracked a lot, but discovered new bands, but I was B-line to the Green stage for Farflung's entire set!!
  1:14pm
joe:

@Walter do all the bands bring their own backdrop visuals or do you guys bring someone in? I've heard alot of good things about the visual accompaniment at the show.
  1:15pm
BSI:

Sounds great Diane. I haven't been up to date on Farflung since the mid '90s (great release called something like 50,000 Feet Per Second) - Good to see they're still kicking. Or flying...
  1:16pm
walter roadburn:

@joe, some of the bands bring their own visuals and/or video projections, and the roadburn graphic designer's work on alot of the visuals / backdrops, too. it the signature aesthetic of the festival.
  1:16pm
Chris from DC:

Ironic, Cheri. Still hoping to make it up to Deathfest and maybe catch Church of Misery.
  1:18pm
Cheri Pi:

Cool Chris!! Yeah-I'm also gonna miss Hail Hornet!!! But I will be in Japan so at least that's something.
  1:18pm
Cecile:

really? Die Kreuzen cover? holy crap.
  1:22pm
walter roadburn:

it was amazing to see voivod playing man in the trees with dan kubinski on vocals --goosebumps all over!
  1:22pm
joe:

Yay Jesu
  1:23pm
Mr Donut:

Yay Justin B
  1:25pm
joe:

Here is VoiVod's Dimension set along with Man In The Trees's http://www.roadburn.com/2012/04/voivod-enitre-dimension-hatross-performance-at-roadburn-2012-posted/
  1:27pm
joe:

Back to KJ if Jaz ever decided to bail and they wanted to keep going here is the man to take his place.
  1:27pm
Cecile:

ok, time for a Man in the Trees break. brb.
  1:27pm
paula pc:

this show is all so great -- THANK YOU, Diane!!
  1:28pm
Chris from DC:

Thanks Joe!
  1:29pm
joe:

I just got turned on to Pelican like 2 or 3 weeks ago didn't even relize they played the festival.
  1:34pm
Cecile:

DAMN THAT WAS GREAT.
All it lacked was Keith Brammer's hair...
  1:34pm
joe:

Chris DC your welcome but all thanks belong to the cats at Roadburn ;)
  1:35pm
Cecile:

ITA with joe, great camera work, too
  1:38pm
joe:

owww growly vocals make their first appearence of the day.
  1:39pm
Tomo:

Wino looked amazing on stage. And sounded pretty damn good too! And it was also fun when you Walter RAN into green room to watch BONG with the biggest smile on your face
  1:50pm
Mr Donut:

Sleep, but no High on Fire?
  1:50pm
BSI:

SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
  1:50pm
PKNY:

  1:50pm

  1:51pm
Cheri Pi:

  1:53pm
BSI:

Ignites office drop-ceiling tiles.
  1:53pm
joe:

Hey PKNY any association with the tiki bar in NYC with a similar moniker? Just courious
  1:57pm
joe:

And they all go to 11
  2:01pm
PKNY:

@Joe - no association...but there's a tiki bar in NY called PKNY?
  2:02pm
Mr Donut:

Whoa - what's happening to my bong?
  2:02pm
joe:

Yeah it stands for Pain Killer NY but they tend to avertise themselves as PKNY was just there for the first time about 2 weeks ago so it was fresh in my mind.
  2:02pm
Tomo:

Both bongrippershows were really good. But I liked the SWD show a bit more
  2:04pm
joe:

http://www.pk-ny.com/
  2:05pm
PKNY:

@Joe - just did some web searching and found that bar. Since I'm only a hour outside of NYC, I'll make it a point to check that place out.
  2:07pm
joe:

It's a bit pricey but they are generous with their spirits so it makes up for it.
  2:09pm
Mike East:

This show is really hitting the spot today. Thanks, Diane.
  2:11pm
lane:

lane:

now signal is cutting out too... oh tortuous day...
  2:41pm
Amy:

Wow, I missed so many great bands.
  2:42pm
Chris from DC:

Is Roadburn pretty much how you imagine the afterlife?
  2:47pm
Amy:

Pretty much, yeah. At least my experience felt that way.
Avatar 2:50pm
Kamikaze:

It would be amazing if Roadburn were the afterlife... I'd do myself in just to get there and stay there! An amazing festival as usual; great to meet new friends and see old ones. Roadburn is an experience that stays with you!
  2:51pm
mike:

aooooooo aoooooooooo!!!!! love urfaust!!
  2:54pm
Cheri Pi:

Urfaust ruled, so does this Saturnalia Temple!
  2:55pm
Cecile:

I think a cross between Roadburn, the Winter Music Conference and Vision Fest would be my idea of heaven.
  2:55pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

C-R-U-S-H-I-N-G
  2:56pm

Cheri, when you run out of gods to write concept albums about, there's always the Romans.
  2:57pm
Cheri Pi:

Of Course!!!
  2:58pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

you could base an entire career on Genghis Khan, to boot.
  2:59pm
Mr Donut:
