  12:08pm

Drummer stream has been popping back in over you a few times in the last couple minutes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Amanda:

Just a little turbulence -- but don't worry, we will get you there.
  12:12pm
listener james from westwood:

double shot of stiff records cuts is the sure cure for whatailsya
  12:13pm
kat330:

Hi, Amanda, our worthy pilot!
  12:13pm
G:

NP! Not happening any more...
  12:14pm
listener james from westwood:

i'm imagining the old-style helmet and goggles. scarf optional but always jaunty.
  12:15pm
G:

Ken's show ended just now, so stragglers should be arriving...
  12:16pm
kat330:

Amelia Earhart style? Difference is Amanda will get us safely to our destination. :)
  12:22pm
kat330:

If there's anything King excels in, it's painting childhood memories so vividly, friendships in particular.
  12:24pm
listener james from westwood:

have still not seen "stand by me." major omission. i mostly know it thru wil wheaton's writing about it/occasional self-lampooning.
  12:26pm
kat330:

Direct hit? Will we have to land in the Hudson now?
  12:28pm
Dan in Seattle:

Where is Sully Sullenberger when you need him?
  12:29pm
Philo Gristle:

As long as it's not in Southern Finland. Hi Kat!
  12:30pm
kat330:

PHILO!!!! Wow! All the way from Hyvinkaa!!
  12:30pm
Philo Gristle:

Can't listen and using a foreign keyboard, but thought I'd say hello!!
  12:31pm
kat330:

Have you been on the lookout for me long? I signed off Ken's list earlier than I wanted, but, well, you know.
  12:33pm
kat330:

BTW, I mistitled that last soundcloud track -- I identified it correctly in the text, but the title/file should be "Frankie's Blues," not Candy Man. If I can't fix it, maybe my remote handyman can? :) MRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSua!!
  12:33pm
Philo Gristle:

Yep, and no -- just logged in and saw Amanda was on and that was a safe bet! GOtta go and eat, but looks like itäs plenty of good music and company here! MRS! TTYS!

[Amanda, I apologize for that brief interlude...]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Amanda:

Haha -- hi Dan. hi/bye Philo! kat330 -- no apology necessary at all. I'm pleased that this is a good reunion spot.
  12:38pm
kat330:

:) First time apart for more than about 10 hours since Sept. 3, 2000. Been a lonely week.
  12:39pm
G:

Aint love grand :-) ( <--- irony-free comment)
  12:40pm
SteveL:

Love is OK. 25 years ago today I stopped living in sin.
  12:41pm
kat330:

Thanks, G. [also utterly genuine] Easier to keep a Stiff upper lip with all these great spins from a fine label.
  12:55pm
kat330:

Hope you're finally have sunny weather there today? Our weather usually travels NE to you folks, but that doesn't seem to be happening of late. If it does, you should have beautiful weather the next few days.
  1:00pm
listener james from westwood:

that'll be something to look forward to; been gloomy and rainy in nnj. we needed the rain, but hardly the kindest face spring has.
  1:01pm
Brian in UK:

Did someone mention the British. What ho!
Chilli Willi & the Red Hot Peppers?
  1:02pm
kat330:

Just seems Amanda's been on the air only on rainy days lately. Hoping for sunshine inside and out.
  1:03pm
kat330:

Brian! Hadn't seen Hyde nor hare of you lately! Guess the Nick Lowe brought you forth. :)
  1:06pm
kat330:

Leeches! I had a similar incident in my childhood wading in Silver Creek. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
Amanda:

Hullo Brian! I guess I needed to hear from you after calling out the British that way. Welcome to your home away from home!

kat -- aw, so thoughtful. The sun is out now and it looks like it's gonna be a nice one.
  1:07pm
kat330:

Ahem, just my legs, thank goodness.
  1:07pm
Brian in UK:

Hello kat330, I've been around. Nice of you to notice. I did asked Michael Shelley recently if he has interviewed Albert Hammond, it seemed like his kind of subject. I got a monosyllbic response in the negative.
  1:10pm
ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
  1:11pm
Brian in UK:

Oh well, I like new words. Insert 'a' at your discretion.

My connection keeps dipping out.
  1:12pm
Doug S.:

Ooh ooh ooh. Love this.

After Amanda's show, I will reboot the stream's software and beckon Tech Guru Mike Adler to hold its hand.
  1:13pm
Brian in UK:

The Albert Hammond link being, he's a Brit & 'It Never Rains in Southern California', plus many more 'hits.

Doug, I think it is MY connection.
  1:13pm
kat330:

Brian, as long as a typo leads to no misunderstanding, I say we all leave 'em stet. I was wasting a lot of bandwidth in my first days doing a bunch of correcting stuff. Now I let it be.
Yes, Doug, me, too. There's room for more than one Lucinda.
  1:14pm
john:

wooooooooooooooot!
  1:15pm
john:

Lousy meetings made me miss the first half of the show...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm
Amanda:

Hey john! My sentiments exactly.

@Doug, I had a feeling you would go for the Catherine Irwin song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm
Amanda:

(I mean my sentiments about the wooooooot, not the meetings)
  1:16pm
kat330:

Just checked out Hammond's wiki page. Had not known most of that.
  1:24pm
Doug S.:

@Amanda
You read me like an iPod!
  1:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Amanda!
Pretty busy today, but still listening through the headphones! Great songwriters in this block in particular.
  1:32pm
jaminta80:

This show is great
  1:33pm
listener james from westwood:

ah, escaped from weekly wed. meeting in record time. back into the stream!
  1:36pm
Matt from Springfield:

Trepidation? No need!
It's the amazing BT-approved and stocked New Bin! Worthy of giving a bear hug, like DJ Jesse!
  1:38pm
efd:

Was that missed Cyclone 60 show at the Delancey?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm
Amanda:

@efd, yes it was! Most lamented not-seen show of all time.
  1:44pm
john:

Gotta run out to another meeting. Archers running through my head will make it a lot more tolerable. Thanks, Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm
Amanda:

Hi Matt, glad you can sneak in to comment. john, it is my pleasure to serve you...

Hey, it's Jamin of TA80! Nice to see you here!
  1:47pm
Matt from Springfield:

Yeeowch! That stung! At least we're hearing Archers of Loaf as they intended to be heard :)
Thanks Amanda. @John: WFMU sneakers unite!
  1:47pm
Doug S.:

I think I miss seeing John Cage/Sun Ra at Coney Island the most.
  1:50pm
northguineahills:

I have a recording of Cage/Sun Ra. I'll have to find it to see where it was recorded.

Loaf reminds me of small clubs in the mid-90s. They were always very friendly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
Amanda:

Looks like Listener James is another sneaker. :-) @northguineahills, what city were you in???
  1:53pm
northguineahills:

@ I saw Loaf many times in Jacksonville & Gainesville, FL.

I think I've been to about 10 concerts in the last year where I was there for the last 10 minutes or less. It's not a good trend. Happened last weekend w/ Talibam!
  1:53pm
northguineahills:

Oh, and I also saw Loaf in Atlanta.
  1:58pm
Doug S.:

@NGH
I posted that Cage/Ra record on the WFMU blog a few months back.
  2:00pm
northguineahills:

Dig the Woods...

I first saw the Cage/Ra record when DJ Spooky opened up for Kool Keith in Tallahassee, in 1998. He had the album cover between his turntables.

I found one about 7 years ago.
  2:00pm

Buddy of mine found out where this bridge was, drove to it, and walked across it.

Hi Amanda! Loving the show today - love the Stand By Me stuff!

White man on Tamla?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm

Rad! Thanks Michele. ;-)

I haven't seen the movie, but the audio brings an interesting drama to this episode! Never a dull moment!
  2:10pm
Matt from Springfield:

Woods was fabulous--that's just some of the wonders of the New Bin! Stop by your local New Bin, today.
  2:10pm
Skirkie:

Oh wait, it's in California? Never mind. My friend is a damn liar.
  2:16pm
Brian in UK:

Are we talking Jorma Kaukonen?
  2:16pm
kat330:

Wouldn't ya know, I'm out of earshot for no more than 20 mins. and miss a track called "Indiana Wants Me"? Archives per usual.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
Amanda:

That's what we're talking!
  2:17pm
kat330:

A fine Finn. [ANOTHER fine Finn I might add. :)]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Amanda:

Hey, sorry I keep making the records skip by nudging the record player.
  2:20pm
kat330:

Exactly what ARE you doing in the studio, Amanda?? Upright dancing I trust.
  2:20pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow--I was incredulous at the intro: someone playing America's "Only In Your Heart"?? And on WFMU! Thanks Amanda, this is a great one!

This is all the way from '72, but the production and songwriting seem to have influenced "indie" songwriters from the 90s into the present.
  2:22pm
Jack:

God Amanda I haven't heard this Iron Butterfly song since I was 13 when I bought the album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Amanda:

Jack, that's cool -- glad to bring you back there :-)
  2:29pm
kat330:

Ooh, this one brings back a flood of memories. It was on a mix tape an ex made for me.
  2:31pm
Brian in UK:

I think what an FMU DJ plays is second to the way they play it.
Amanda, love the way you play it.
  2:32pm
listener james from westwood:

"love the way you play it": title of next year's marathon premium cd?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
Amanda:

Love the way you pay attention to it.
  2:35pm
northguineahills:

Garbage? well, there's always a first for WFMU. (insert Garbage pun here).
  2:44pm
Brian in UK:

Gotta get to the kitchen, my next door neighbour who is Italian just came back from there with some Bufala Mozza. Yum. Slices like meat. Luvverly. Take care all.

Wed. is trash night here in JC, so I figured it was time to take out the Garbage.

Enjoy, Brian!

Ewwwwww, the most gross scene in most of filmdom! :) [Good thing Brian had left the room]
  2:52pm

Ohhh, you didn't get there. Probably a good thing.
