Good to be listening live again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
Amanda:

Hai Steve, nice to have you!
  12:04pm
Alf from Upstate:

Welcome back Amanda. I've got my spats and cummerbund and I'm ready to dance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm
Amanda:

They will appreciate that in the pit, Alf... orchestra or mosh...
  12:09pm
SteveL:

Spats might offer a bit of ankle support in the mosh pit, and a cummerbund might be good to grab when pulling someone up off of the floor.
  12:10pm
john:

wooooooooooot!
  12:14pm
glenn:

pip pip, spats wearers. what time does the fox hunt begin?
  12:14pm
Alf from Upstate:

Orchestra or mosh has me rotfling!
  12:17pm
G:

Fox hunts were made illegal in the UK years ago. Recently, for diehards, a company began offering guys in fox suits for hire. People can chase them with paint guns. funfun
  12:18pm
Spencer the Beagle:

FOX!!!
  12:20pm
Carmichael:

Yikes, I'm late AND have to run to a meeting. Hi Amanda. Hi everyone.
  12:20pm
glenn:

i like foxes, and do not advocate hunting them at all. g's suggestion seems reasonable to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm
Amanda:

Always nice to get a note from Spencer! He may chase foxes as long as a pack of people don't follow him...
  12:24pm
Spencer the Beagle:

I loves a roll in fox poo. To catch 'em you got to be 'em.
Ofcourse, it's my snout did the work in the olden days, the foxhounds did the chasing.
  12:25pm
Doug S.:

I forget the exact story, but either Laurie Anderson used to go fox hunting back in her Chicago days—or it was a member of her family. My wife road horses in her Chicago youth and once went on a hunt with this person (I don't think it was Laurie). I forget exactly, but you'd have to agree that somehow this story makes me look a little cooler.
  12:28pm
Spencer the Beagle:

Doug, have you got cats. I love chasing cats, can't help myself. It's my job. Pays poor but the food & pension is OK.
  12:28pm
glenn:

any cooler, and you wouldn't need ice in your mai tais.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm
Amanda:

!!! And she and Lou Reed once came into the dog-boarding place where I used to work, and were appalled because there were dogs in crates.
  12:29pm
Cats:

Spencer, do you like how a deeply scratched nose feels? Just asking.
  12:31pm
efd:

My hair-cutter's husband cuts Laurie Anderson's hair.

Boom.

I know myself. How fucking kewl is that?

Greetings, people, cats and dogs! Just finished a nice lunch of leftover sesame chicken, with a nice Scenario soundtrack.

glenn:

why can't we all just get along? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSEd6O0bBFs
  12:32pm
Spencer the Beagle:

Don't talk to me about cat scratches. My ears have taken a beating from Claude the toerag. I can clear the room with one fart though, cats.
  12:35pm
kat330:

@glenn: Thanks for the great YT! Yes, that fox wanted to come in.

I know dogs named Jack, Rocky, and not one but two Baileys.
  12:52pm

Believe it was raining cats and dogs last two times I've heard you on the air, Amanda. That Sunday fill-in and last Wednesday, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm

Whoa, what about female dogs' names? Here in NYC I see a lot of names like Ruby, Stella, Chloe

Hey, it's EL, with leisure time! Welcome back friend. And a big welcome to ndbob, kat, Artie, Skirkie, and glenn too.
  12:54pm
kat330:

Like I said last week, if our weather drifts your way, you'll have sunshine tomorrow. It's purrrr-fect temps here: upper 50s in the mornings getting no higher than mid-70s in late afternoon. Love it!
  12:55pm
ndbob:

still cooler then that here though up to 80 tomorrow
  12:55pm
Doug S.:

NYC is getting the rain we had yestiddy in the 'Burgh. Love that Bobby Hebb cover, Amanda!
  12:59pm
SteveL:

When I was a newspaper photographer, I cared very much about the weather as it could be news, not to mention that I did 95% of my work away from the office. Now, I work indoors, downtown and could care less what the weather will be.

Of course, if I need to know, I call my mother. She always knows.
  12:59pm
kat330:

We had a huge downpour Derby Eve, which meant we had to postpone our ritual tomato seedling planting until Sunday. But looking good for July salsa and BLTs.
  1:00pm

  1:04pm
kat330:

Hey, Spencer, please tell me the extra asterisk was a typo?
  1:05pm
kat330:

Then be happy for your friend! I'm sure it will come back to you, either some free drinks from him or something. The universe is good that way.
  1:06pm
SteveL:

BAD dog, Spencer. Bad dog!
  1:07pm
kat330:

SICK dog -- Sick 'em, cats!
  1:08pm
Spencer the Beagle:

  1:08pm
Artie:

It's a type of crapical error.
  1:09pm
Doug S.:

I got a beagle for my 10th birthday present. Her names was Luby. She would charge after rodents in our backyard, freeze them in their tracks, then go run off and come back and drop a bone in front of them. Good dog, Luby, good dog.
  1:09pm
kat330:

@Artie: EXcellent, well done!

My mom just got a "new" (second-hand) spaniel. She is apparently very sweet but suffers from separation anxiety.
  1:12pm

Sweet has a potty mouth.
  1:12pm
Dervish:

I love the Second Hand Spaniels. Their early stuff before they sold out.

I'm going to trouble someone for my dinner. Paws are sore.
Amanda, you mum sounds nice, try taking her to classes that's what happened to me.
  1:15pm
Skirkie:

I know cats named Ruby and Greta. They are male cats.
  1:18pm
kat330:

I had a female cat named Jasper. Her sex was indeterminate when we acquired her due to extreme youth. Somehow the name fit like a glove after we got over "The Ugly Truth."
  1:21pm
kat330:

Heh, I'm noticing a trend, Amanda. FCC baiting? :)
  1:21pm
Candace:

I hope Ruby and Greta don't live in North Carolina.
  1:22pm
kat330:

@Candace: You folks had a bad day yesterday, yes? Indiana didn't exactly have a shining moment either.
  1:24pm
Candace:

At least Lugar's senate seat has a chance to turn Blue this November.
  1:26pm
kat330:

Right, which is why it's not so awful. But Indiana is less and less a blue state even though, miracle of miracles, it went to Obama in '08.

  1:34pm

I will admit that I like a few Amy Grant songs.. not many, but some.
  1:36pm
glenn:

so she can take credit for inventing the swiss army knife?
  1:37pm
Doug S.:

I just read the following on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's website concerning my daughter's school...

A teacher who was exhibiting "extremely erratic behavior" was escorted by school police this morning, according to district spokeswoman Ebony Pugh.

Ms. Pugh declined to detail the behavior but said both paramedics and school police were called to the school about 8 a.m.

She said the teacher was released, not charged and left for the day. She said the incident is under investigation.
  1:40pm
kat330:

Yikes, Doug. Hope this ends up well for everyone.
  1:40pm
ndbob:

wow Doug
  1:40pm
Doug S.:

When I was in 6th grade, "extremely erratic behavior" could've described most of the faculty.
  1:41pm
ndbob:

so Michelle can now run for office in Switzerland - maybe she will
  1:41pm
kat330:

Here's the thing with our media saturation since the mid-twentieth century:The numbers of notable pop culture icon deaths can only grow geometrically. Soon the "in memoriam" segments of shows will require the lion's share of time that, perhaps more rightly, should be devoted to the living. Either that or many dead will get short shrift.
  1:43pm
pgw in mntclr:

in an 8th grade music class [iirc, it was kind of a music history or appreciation class], the teacher let us bring in music of our choice to listen to in class. my friend brought in "license to ill", and our teacher lost it, stopping the tape after 30 seconds and saying "these idiots are laughing all the way to the bank."
  1:43pm
glenn:

ummm. i think the swiss would laugh so hard at michelle b. that she would go deaf. they aren't quite so tolerant of bat shit crazy morons.
  1:45pm
Hank:

Celine Dion represented Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest. Nothing to be proud of.
  1:46pm
kat330:

Maybe she just wants easier access to a secret Swiss bank account.

Danne-man, howdy!

Not exactly written about an abusive partner -- about a pompous king in a backward place and time, but not precisely abusive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm

Non- King and I renditions always sound like that out of context though (to me at least!). Weirdness of musicals vs. real-life songs.

Thank you all for listening and commenting! Whoops, and happy Mother's Day where applicable. xoxo
