  8:20pm
listener gary:

Back in the 60's my friend Fred was the stage manager on the B'way production of Hair. We would get together every night after the show at his place in the E. Village, get stoned and play poker. Paul Jabara was there banging away on the upright piano singing songs he had written. Very grandly one night I announced: Mark my words: that boy will never amount to a hill o beans. Then along came Donna S. and proved me a liar. Well, she wasn't doin' a solo!
Avatar 8:21pm
monica:

Hey, Mo; do you remember a gay disco in Chicago called, I think, Sunday's Child? Used to go there all the time back in '74.

  8:33pm
Snortley:

Not sure where Sunday's was; we all would pile into a car and go there. I was pretty clueless about neighborhoods outside of Hyde Park, though I went bar hopping enough on North Lincoln to know where that was.
  8:34pm
Steve M.:

I think Sunday's Child was near Old Town.
Avatar 8:37pm
monica:

gay discos/bars in chicago are sorely under-documented.

  8:39pm
G:

Veronneau. They recently released an album, _Jazz Samba Project_, in tribute to the 50th anniversary of _Jazz Samba_, which more or less pioneered bossa nova. The concert was at the Unitarian Chruch on 16th St. in D.C. in the block where the original album was recorded (in basically a set of first takes in under three hours total). Interesting show, with a panel Q and A afterwards of jazz and Brazilian culture people...
  8:40pm
Snortley:

I found only one mention of Sunday's on the web:

http://www.house-mixes.com/profile/sundays%20child

A former DJ from there now mixing under the name.
