Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from May 22, 2012 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

I bought Bud over the weekend b/c I have to be cheap. PBR is marginally better. Going to get 1 decent beer this evening to make up for it.
  3:43pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

oh heck if you're feeling/need to be cheap, buy Yuengling at least!
  3:43pm
boscpear:

must have been 1990. I heard it on my local station KXLU los angeles
  3:44pm
dc pat:

DCE: correct on Yuengling. Actually not bad, but the owner of the company is a bag of douche.
  3:44pm
Chris from DC:

Shiner's ok for (relatively) cheap.
  3:46pm
Mike East:

I get a 6 of Yuengling every Friday. I went through them too quick which is why I had to get another...and since I had already spent my beer budget, RR is what I came up with. Never Again!
  3:46pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

what other decent cheap regional beers still exist? Ranier or Olympia out west? Remember Old Chicago? Old Style?
  3:46pm

Chris: drank too much Shiner Bock at Asylum when they were selling it for 25 cents at 6pm. Then it would go up 25 cents every 15 minutes...or something

  3:59pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

does anyone remember when the "generic" craze hit in the late 70s and you could buy "beer" in a white can with black letters?
  4:00pm

I collected cans too. Ended up trying to sell them years later but had to pitch most of them. Had a cone top too.

DCE: Absolutely. Even had cigarettes in the black and white, (sometimes yellow and black) packs.
  4:01pm

AIEEEEE! Gig in Rhode Island last year: venue's only drink deal for performers was $1 Narragansetts. First and last time. I'm not a beer snob, but that stuff..... *shudder*

Yeah, I had a can of Billy beer in my collection. I can only imagine how bad that must have been.

My friend bought a house in Lynbrook, LI circa 1980. It's former owner had been Tex Antoine, local meteorolological legend in notoriety. His unfinished attic had a plethora of beer cans nailed to the rafters( along with an "Uncle Weatherbee" porchlight. Don't make 'em like that anymore.

  4:19pm

Just bought cases of Victory Hop Devil & BluePoint Hoptical Ale. Life should be good for the near future!
  4:19pm

yeah those shandys are tasty. BSI's FIRST beer was Guinness? that's pretty impressive actually. Most first-timers would look at that color in fear.
  4:19pm

hey guys! maybe exported baltika is good? i`m glad to hear that, it`s from my town, but here it`s kinda watery. zywiec is pretty good we drink it when in poland. i thought it was polish. i`d prefer polish beer over russian generally. just a view from this side!

Cool Vanya - greetings to Russia! I lived most of my life in Michigan and love their beers. It's the only growth industry in the state. Did you have any favorite IPAs?

+DOG+ mentioned Solmania, I saw them open for SY in '98. Still have the shirt, although the armpits have holes.

IPAs, Hefeweizens, lagers, several good US beers out there. Widmer, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, Starr Hill, Anchor Steam, Lagunitas, Fordham, too many to name..
