I was at the library recently and read a biography about John Coltrane. In there, it mentioned Lee Morgan and I thought "That name is familiar. He's the guy from Irwin's theme song."

It's fun that Chandler was a British citizen for the vast majority of his life, including his productive writing years. You tend to think of his detective works as quintessentially American.

Chandler worked with Billy Wilder on Double Indemnity, and Wilder was very much one of those interesting creatives born and raised somewhere else but whose fuel and forte seemed to be the most American of American elements. No martinis here...reduced to teetotalin' with total trivia.

I just got an ELO record a few weeks ago. One thing that perplexes me is why Jeff Lynne has to use the "robot voice" on every song. He's got such a good voice, its not like he needs to be auto tuned or anything. Don't get me wrong it sounds awesome on some tracks, but I don't know if he needs it on every song.

On an XM channel last night, they played Neil Young's "Computer Age", from Trans. But they didn't show the artist/song info on the display; that happens occasionally, I think that is caused by errors in their own database or something. But that's funny, because while I knew exactly what it was, listeners who don't know about Trans will be out of luck! No easy way to look up that song by listening to lyrics!
