G:

The pic looks nothing like you, really. Had any work done lately?
  3:03pm
Matt from Springfield:

Cell phone pic from late into a Brazilian party you were at?
  3:03pm
Who it is:

Tommy, can you hear me?
  3:10pm
Van in DC:

Is that the Leave Britney Alone creature?
  3:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

Ha! "Leave Britney Alone!" was so 2006/2007. Which celeb should be the 2012 equivalent?

Leave Tom Cruise ALOOOOONEE!!!
  3:14pm
Matt from Springfield:

The Kraken Shall Be Re-released.
  3:14pm
Euro K.:

Man, love this guitar part!
  3:16pm

  3:19pm
Waitin' on That Hippy Music:

Bout time!
  3:21pm
jan:

Surrealistic Pillow D.C.B.A.-25 - lovely choice from the past.
  3:22pm
Matt from Springfield:

Or those born completely after the "1st" hippy era, but totally dig the music from that era. And the references to DRUGS contained therein!
  3:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

Rock our world!
...or, destabilize our equilibrium. Sometimes both at the same time!
  3:24pm
Queen:

We will we will rock you! BUT ONLY IF THE FUCKIN CHECK CLEARS FIRST.
  3:25pm
hamburger:

remember that Neil Young song, "Keep on rockin' in the free world" ? only mentioning, but I think this is what Irwin is referring to. Rocking your world.
  3:26pm
Alternate World:

Irwin! We WERE rocking our world! But your rocked world bled into ours, cancelling it out!
Everyone was like, "I thought we were rockin! What happened?" But it was you! Rock WITH us, not against us! Or else put up a vibration wall on the edge of your dimension, and keep it to yourselves!
  3:27pm
Paul Rodgers:

@Queen: Did you say there's a check involved? I'm in!
  3:29pm
hamburger:

yep, I definitely heard a beeped curse word. Now that is what I call rocking your world. My world. is rocked.
  3:31pm
Candy Kitchen:

If you're heading out to the Eastern Shore this summer, stop by any of our stores on the beaches' boardwalks! Fudge, taffy and other goodies--we are as FUDGED up as they say!
  3:32pm
BDR:

Yay! Happy birthday Thurston!
  3:32pm
Jess:

IS THAT AN AD? ON MY WFMU?
  3:32pm
BDR:

Gotcha.
  3:35pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Jess: There are always ADs (Attention Deficits) on WFMU. Sure, that's a rule, but we don't pay attention much here Ooooh! hand sanitizer!...
  3:36pm
hamburger:

See what Matt from Springfield did there?

This is Comment Board Comedy Gold I'm tell you!
  3:37pm
hamburger:

Blink and you'll miss it. Side splitting humor scrolling up all the way all day! (Apart from the shows with no comments boards - very serious stuff going on there)
  3:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

@hamburger: Yes, could be Comment Board Platinum, but then again we're too easily distrac
  3:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hey, I remember "Shaolin Affen" now--didn't realize Klaus was covering someone else here.
  3:39pm
hamburger:

I think Matt from Springfield must have a lot of tattoos with math answers on his body like the guy from Memento
  3:40pm
hamburger:

Just throwing in a little pop culture humor there..
  3:44pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wild Man Fischer & Rosemary Clooney!!! One of the best duets in recorded sound!
  3:45pm
Mike East:

wow - what a pairing!
  3:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

Johnny needs to make his territory too, you know.
  3:51pm
Matt from Springfield:

*mark*
  3:52pm
Tyrone Green:

Yup we got it the first time.
  3:52pm
hamburger:

-.-
  3:57pm
Andrew Waterloo:

mmm Stark Reality.. stoking my appetite
  4:01pm
hamburger:

That's Tommy :o
  4:02pm
Cheri Pi:

Butters on the side
  4:02pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Tommy: Good question--without butter, us Yanks would just dump mayo on it instead.
  4:04pm
Andrew:

Is he trying not to laugh?
  4:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Josie and the Christmas Cakes"
appearing on Tommy's album, Bjorn This Way
  4:04pm
Woo:

He doesn't have to get snippy about it.
  4:05pm
Ike:

This guy is clearly overestimating our usage of butter. Don't they have partially-hydrogenated soybean oil in Norway? That's what a lot of use (even if we don't realize it because not enough of us look at the ingredients of what we buy). Europeans love butter way more than we do.
  4:05pm
George of Troy:

Whose version of Four Organs is this in the background?
  4:06pm
Danes:

You know WE'RE laughing at our neighbors to the north, what a predicament! :D
  4:06pm
Irwin:

@GoT: Pea Hicks, "Four Optigans"
  4:07pm
Matt from Springfield:

Is this from Robert Alberg's Christmas Album?
If he doesn't have one, Robert should "cover" Bob Dylan's Christmas Album.
  4:08pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Irwin,George: Was that bed music a cover of this Steve Reich piece then?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Organs
  4:08pm
Frenchy:

@Ike: Gras de Normandie!!!!!
  4:08pm
hamburger:

Robert Alberg - Truly the voice of a generation
  4:09pm
Irwin:

Matt: Si.
  4:10pm
George of Troy:

Thanks Irwin! I had never heard it before... Pea is the Optigan master.

@Matt: Yep!
  4:12pm
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, I liked that bed music. Clearly though, some people didn't:

"A 1973 performance of Four Organs at Carnegie Hall in New York City nearly caused a riot, with "yells for the music to stop, mixed with applause to hasten the end of the piece." One of the performers, Michael Tilson Thomas, recalls: "One woman walked down the aisle and repeatedly banged her head on the front of the stage, wailing 'Stop, stop, I confess.'" "
  4:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

WFMU DJs can judge the effectiveness of their programming when listeners bang their heads on the WFMU building wailing for it to stop.
  4:15pm
Carmichael:

HIya Irwin, hey peoples. I would comment more, but I can't bear to have that freaky looking thing staring at me.
  4:16pm
Andrew Waterloo:

What's confusing about WFMU, particularly shows like Irwin's, is what music is driving people nuts exactly?
  4:19pm
G:

Headbang all you want -- as long as you confess...
  4:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

Allmusic wrote a good review of Robert Alberg's latest, though they too admitted they liked his old stuff better.
  4:21pm
Carmichael:

Nothing is better than Jandek. Not even Amanda.
  4:22pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Carm: Well I can't agree with THAT--I'm too big of an Amandiac.
  4:24pm
Matt from Springfield:

Is that really Tommy? What kind of trolls do Norwegians turn into when they don't eat enough butter??
  4:26pm
Andrew Waterloo:

Tommy gets a little raw when he has no butter.
  4:30pm
Ferris & buddy:

Hey, butterbutterbutterbutterbutter,
sa-wing butter.
  4:35pm
Wayne & Garth:

Scha-WING Butter!
  4:42pm
Matt from Springfield:

Really nice Eleni Mandell.
  4:44pm
G:

@MfS: New album released July 10th, it looks like...
  4:46pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks G. I'll next to look into that...
  4:53pm
Michael:

  5:11pm

  5:11pm
lefty:

  5:12pm

Good Lord, it's the 80s again.
  5:12pm
lefty:

forgive me BOZZIO
  5:12pm
Irwin:

He rocked Zappa too.
  5:14pm
lefty:

oh, sweet. thank you, Irwin.
  5:15pm
Matt from Springfield:

O&O!! Gorgeous! Thank you Irwin!
  5:15pm
Denise in DC:

This is indeed lovely.
  5:16pm

  5:16pm

  5:23pm
Bozzio:

UK too!
  5:26pm
Berbo:

Today's meeting was canceled, so I'm listening in real time.
neat-o.
  5:29pm
Matt from Springfield:

Neat-O, Berb-O!
WFMU listeners like myself are currently working to build a meeting-seeking missile, to remove those dreadful interruptions to the listening day.
  5:30pm
Brett:

I was so into that Missing Persons song!!!
  5:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

Everyone's Favo(u)rite Coward!
  5:31pm
Euro K.:

America is OK? You're a coward, Noel.
  5:32pm
Listening Out There:

...Where's the Like button on this thing? Oh...
  5:33pm
Philo Gristle:

Missing Persons reminded me of Lene Lovich.
  5:34pm
Detroit Mac:

Ah... Back when the Winter Bros were doing great stuff!
  5:36pm
Listening Out There:

...from small town Texas yet, Johnny and Edgar...
  5:36pm
Matt from Springfield:

+10 for Edgar's long vocal!!
  5:37pm
Matt from Springfield:

Marmalade Souls? Did the Apple band Marmalade merge with a band called the Souls?
  5:42pm
Matt from Springfield:

The Sunshine Company's right up my alley! Surprised I never heard them before!
  5:45pm
Denise in DC:

Matt, do you know the Internet station LuxuriaMusic.com? They play obscure California 60s pop all the time.
  5:47pm
Matt from Springfield:

Say WHAT Denise??! :)
No, and I'd better check it out!
  5:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

Looks great Denise! Thanks!
  5:50pm
Denise in DC:

Interspersed with other weirdness, of course.
  5:51pm
Carmichael:

Breathy, Colin, breathy ....
  5:52pm
