If it's your slot, you can do whatever you want, whether single genre or wide net. But, there is NO station playlist of mandatory songs, so we ought to be "free-structured" or something like that.

	6:17pm ifny: I'm terrifically sad to miss the conference. Bully to you for putting it on! There is lots to discuss and share. In Canada we fought for a long time to have "community radio" stations recognized as distinct from public (i.e. state funded, primarily the Canadian Broadcasting Co) or private stations, -- community stations have distinct needs, wants, and authenticity. We have the National Campus and Community Radio Assn (http://www.ncra.ca) which helped us win major victories -- for example, private stations have to pay into funds that are given as grants to community station applicants. If you think community radio is bad, you think communities are not as creative, innovative and essential as they are. Don't believe the hype! Freeform = what community members want to play = what community members want to listen to
	6:19pm Ike: @Matt, I could be wrong... but I think there used to be a requirement that three-hour shows play at least a few different types of music. Only one-hour shows could be single-format. But the Reggae Schoolroom pre-dates that requirement as far as I understand it. It was grandfathered in, and thus it's out of date and needs to go IMHO. Again, I may be wrong, but it sure SEEMS that way. Even rock-n-roll three-hour shows play a lot of different kinds of rock (& soul). No offense to anyone, just my 2.4 cents.

Though for new shows, I believe one hour single-format at most is a sound policy.
