Listener comments!

  12:04am
amEdeo:

Yeehaaw! Good morning hello, Therese!
  12:05am
Chris:

Well I feel silly, I didn't know that the Boardwalk Empire theme was based on this Brian Jonestown Massacre song. Thanks for the show, Therese!
  12:06am
Holly in NC:

Hello Therese! Super opening, settling in for a good listen.
  12:07am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Good evening/morning, everyone!

Therese, did you watch the man who fell to Earth earlier?
Avatar 12:09am
Therese:

Hi all!! Thanks for stopping by!
Avatar 12:10am
Therese:

And yes, I did watch the man who fell to Earth today.
  12:23am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

The three things I'll never forget: the moment the capsule door opened; the salute before the jump; and his landing.

And the bonus fourth thing: I watched the entire thing on my phone. We live in miraculous times.
Avatar 12:26am
Therese:

Truly! I liked his mom a lot too.
  12:32am
amEdeo:

Confession: I have NEVER seen The Man Who Fell To Earth, even though I have meant to for... years? Years and years?
Avatar 12:40am
Therese:

Here's my confession, amEdeo- I thought that film was dreadfully dull.
  12:45am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

It had a little too much Rip Torn.

The 1987 made-for-TV version - starring Lewis Smith [best known as Perfect Tommy in "The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eighth Dimension"] - is streaming on Netflix. I have never seen it and likely never will.
Avatar 12:48am
Therese:

Not even for Perfect Tommy?
  12:48am
amEdeo:

In other non-Rip Torn-centric news: I just found my LiveJournal from WHEN I WAS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL. No good can come from this...
Avatar 12:53am
Therese:

Oh no! I think my middle school and high school journals may have been lost when my parents moved. At least, I hope that's what happened to them.
  12:59am
earnest_reply:

Thanks for Roxy Music. Reminds me of that kick-ass flick Velvet Goldmine where I heard it for the first time. Love U.
  1:01am
amEdeo:

Yeah, there's a potentially embarrassing dream journal of mine from 5th or 6th grade lost somewhere in my parent's house. I wonder where it wound up. Why does everyone eventually lose track of these things?!
  1:03am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Ok...maybe for Perfect Tommy. Because he's perfect.

About ten years ago I crossed paths with someone I'd had a crush on in high school. Hadn't seen her in 10-15 years. She told me she still had notes I had written her. It was mortifying to know that evidence of my teen angst had not only survived but was apparently being preserved.
  1:08am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Scott Williams is apparently a fan of Gilder's "Backstreet Noise."
Avatar 1:19am
Therese:

Oooh, that's right! Scott might be the reigning Gilder champ...
  1:21am
bk:

Once saw The Godz open for Angel. What a heavenly(or hellish)pairing.
Avatar 1:26am
Therese:

Stats time! According to our playlist database, EFD had played Nick Gilder twice as many times as Scott Williams has.
  1:26am
amEdeo:

@Therese: When did you wind up going to the Free Form Festival? I was there for many hours, during which I primed two large sheets of canvas- along with my hands and pants (accidentally)- with white paint.

@BGZ: If we all were only 10% as perfect as Perfect Tommy, the world would be a better place.

Some of this is actually pretty funny, but it's a little weird to revisit, consider I barely remember writing most of it. Not so much OVERT angst, as grumpiness and misplaced sass (which were just my way of expressing angst).
  1:31am
ADM:

Terazzo, I'm thinking the Ponys would slot nicely into this set.
  1:32am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Here's a spreadsheet I put together of this year's Record Store Day Black Friday releases: http://ow.ly/esahB

I'm updating it as I receive/find info. Start saving your pennies!
Avatar 1:32am
Therese:

I was there from about 4-5ish, I think? Once the sun started going down, I got way too cold to stay...
  1:35am
amEdeo:

Hahaha. That's right around when I left. Ah well-- OH MY GOODNESS. WHAT. IS. THIS?!
  1:37am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Dick Dale & The Tijuana Brass produced by Quentin Tarantino.
  1:38am
amEdeo:

Oh please, I hope not.
Avatar 1:38am
Therese:

Success!
  1:45am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

That Mucca Pazza track was something! I had never heard them before. I will definitely be efforting to add them to my collection ASAP.
  1:50am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Land of the Free Form
  1:50am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Ooh...the math answer on my previous post was 666!
  1:55am
amEdeo:

Well, that's about it for me. Sweet dreams to everyone! ESPECIALLY YOU RIP TORN AND/OR PERFECT TOMMY.
Avatar 1:56am

'Gnight, amEdeo!

Somebody on Haight called me Billy Garcia today. Weirdest thing ever.
Avatar 2:46am
Therese:

Billy Garcia?
  2:48am
KP:

As in you're not Jerry Garcia, you're Billy Garcia!
I guess I just look like my name is bill. Or that is wildest guess ever.
  2:51am
KP:

Have to admit I did go there to have picture taken under Haight/Ashbury sign. It was a lot of fun. Apparently SF has not forgotten Captain Trips.
  2:52am
KP:

This great unwashed sounds great!
  2:52am
Jack:

According to the Google, the most prominent Billy Garcia was a Survivor contestant.
  2:55am
KP:

Well this guy was making up a brother of Jerry. I must have heard hey Jerry 20 times today. And one David Morrison.
  2:56am
KP:

Great day. Also went to SF Giants.
  2:56am
KP:

See ya Therese sorry so late!
  2:58am
KP:

:-)
  2:59am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Thanks for three hours of great tunes and talking, Therese! Have a great week.

Dave from Knoxville! How are you?
  3:33am
davefromknoxville:

Thanks for your show and your dedication to the station, Therese
  3:34am
davefromknoxville:

I am doing very well, Therese. Do you get to go in late on Monday to help recover from the show?
Avatar 3:34am
Therese:

Thank you for listening! And for being a top notch fella.
Avatar 3:35am
Therese:

I usually do go in late on Mondays. But I may "work from home" tomorrow.
  3:36am
davefromknoxville:

Good. Wouldn't want every Monday to be "Zombie Monday". Have a wonderful week.
Avatar 3:38am
Therese:

The same to you, my friend!
  3:41am
davefromknoxville:

Chinchilla!
Avatar 3:45am
Therese:

A friend of mine had a pet chinchilla named Jelly. She was very cute, but all she did was eat raisins and take dust baths.
  3:47am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Enough about your friend. I want to hear about Jelly!

:rimshot:
Avatar 3:50am
Therese:

That's pretty much all there is to say about Jelly, BGZ. Oh wait, once I tried to give her a raisin and the moment I opened her cage, she SHOT out and lodged herself behind the fridge.
  3:57am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I had no idea what a chinchilla looked like. Now I know. They apparently like to wear "happy birthday" hats.

I've wondered if a squirrel would make a good domestic pet. I think its shenanigans would delight me.
Avatar 3:58am
Therese:

It didn't work so well for Veruca Salt...
  4:11am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

A few days ago I was giving last week's show a repeat listen and was curious about Buck Pentecost. I did an interweb search and learned that his last name really is Pentecost and his father was a Baptist pastor and editor of "The Religious Herald."
Avatar 4:15am
Therese:

Yup, it's actually his name!
Avatar 4:18am
Therese:

Liz Berg is here, I'm going to hand the wheel over to her... See you all next week.
  4:19am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Take care. See you next week!
