also was there a true prog scene there as some people say in Argentina?
tonyc:
Pledge Pin: Traffic Sound were from Peru. The prog/psych scene in Peru probably wasn't as extensive as it was in Argentina, but I'm no expert.

Your work may have a firewall. When you double-click on the pls file, it should open in your iTunes or Winamp (or whatever music player you have on your machine.)

I always view that scene as basically pan pipe country with a few bands who tried to sound like the Beatles. Not aware at all that there was any true classy psyche, prog or experimental music in South America.
So I look forward to being educated by you today!

As for the pan pipe overload, I blame Simon & Garfunkel.

The label put out other rare albums by bands like Ithaca but I think they were all bootlegs, unremastered etc.

I can sympathize with the ease of travel with the modern stuff, just a laptop, iPhone, bang-zoom, but it sure takes the "mad scientist" out of the equation...

But he did mention: "our old tube recording console known as the Green Board (I think it is the best soundboard ever).... "The Green Board is full of history. The Beach Boyhs' Pet Sounds and "Heroes and Villains," Cream's Disraeli Gears, the Monterey Pop...." etc.

don't compare crappy Wings to Neil Young, Van Morrison, and John Fogerty, their music has incredible depth compared to the ice thin, pop shlock of Wings.

It's inconceivable that a person might listen to lots of different music?
It's polite to tell people the music they like is junk?
It's not fantastical think what you think about other peoples' tastes matters?
Are you seventeen?

I keep thinking I need to pay attention to my LI profile, update it but then I rarely do. I don't know what it really does for me professionally. Probably just underscore how unemployable I am in real life.

It's going to take several hours to screw my head back on after this great show from Tony. Hope it's firmly back in place in time for GIVE THE DRUMMER SOME, which comes up live here on the Drummer Stream at 6pm (ET). Immediately following GTDS, you'll hear Jesse Kaminsky live with KAMINSKY KAMOUTSKY, from 7-9pm. I will be live from Pittsburgh; Jesse, live from Providence, Rhode Island. After Tony's show from Portland, well that's quite enough P-ing on the radio...
In the meantime, please enjoy these fine but flawed humans as they endeavor to entertain you, coming up next on your 24-hour Give the Drummer Radio...
