Hi RSUK!
  1:14pm
Terry:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROB TYNER!! He gave us everything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm
Fiveash:

It was the least he could do!
  1:16pm
Terry:

Please spread some Rod Stewart rumors in my absence...
  1:17pm
jH:

Waking to the Faces is a lovely thing. Now for coffee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm

The truth is uglier than any rumors we might come up with!

Mornin' John!

Ruh roh. Who there?
  1:35pm

It's me, Stinky!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
Fiveash:

I knew you were gonna fuck up a simple knock knock joke.
  1:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

Ichiban--playing the "Number One" records (and those that should've been)!

Hi Fiveash and everyone!
  1:38pm
Stinky:

thanks!

Mikey:

Why did the Irishman make his chili with 239 beans?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Fiveash:

I don't know, but I have a feeling you're going to tell me...
  1:41pm
Mikey:

Because one more would be too Farty (said with Irish accent).
  1:41pm
Honey Water:

Hey, MfS! Turned out we were on the exact same wavelength yesterday at 12:12 pm EST. Philo on the phone got my timing off a tad, or I would have been ahead of you. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm
Fiveash:

Mikey, you're an hour early, it's only One Farty
  1:49pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Honey! 12:12:12 on 12/12/12 ("Tri-12 on Tri-12") is cause for celebration for sure!

I like how a commenter dubbed it "Soundcheck Day": "1-2 1-2 1-2" :)
  1:51pm
Stinky:

Artie Farty's a good friend of mine. He throws some wild parties.
  1:51pm
Matt from Springfield:

Good one Mikey, as well!
(Sounds like the Dublin accent, 240 would be "Too farty" and 230 would be "Two TERty")
  1:52pm
Mikey:

Did ya hear about the Polish car pool?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm
Fiveash:

No, but I really hope that you know it and will tell us all.
  1:53pm
Mikey:

They all met at work...
  1:54pm
Honey Water:

MfS -- did you manage to post somewhere at 12:12 am, too? I know you're a night owl.
  1:54pm
Matt from Springfield:

Great, didn't realize there was a live version of "Cupid"! This is recording and mixed very well, to boot.
  1:56pm
Matt from Springfield:

@HW: Actually I didn't--although on 24 hour time that is 0012 anyway.
  1:56pm
Mikey:

Last one, promise - What's the last thing you want to hear when you're giving Willie Nelson a blowjob?
  1:57pm
Mikey:

"I'm not Willie Nelson"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
Fiveash:

That's the best one.
  2:03pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, this is paired-down folky rock for The Kinks.
  2:06pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thought The Ink Spots were familiar--they did the original "My Prayer" (and hence can definitely be counted as a precursor to doo-wop, rock 'n roll and R&B). They also recorded "When the Swallows Come Back to Capistrano", "Cow Cow Boogie"(with Ella Fitzgerald), "Prisoner of Love" and other standards.
  2:09pm
Matt from Springfield:

Also interesting that a 1948 song of theirs was "The Best Things in Life Are Free"--so "Money" may have been name-checking that earlier song. (But you can give them to the birds and bees)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
Fiveash:

Sorry about that wardrobe malfunction folks!
  2:12pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wild Honey! I like the BBs singing this--the only cover of that Stevie song I'm aware of.
  2:13pm
ken in denver:

Howdy from out west!
  2:13pm
Honey Water:

Love this one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Fiveash:

Hey Ken!
  2:15pm
Honey Water:

Great interview on Shelley's show 12/1.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Fiveash:

Thanks HW, will have to check that one out.
  2:26pm
duke:

Tony Joe does a great version of this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
Fiveash:

Indeed.
  2:34pm
Tom:

Hey Matt, you can always play the B sides.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
Fiveash:

That's B sides the point.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
Fiveash:

Howzitgoin Tom!
  2:36pm
Matt from Springfield:

Lily Langtry, died in 1929:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lily_Langtry

I love this song!
  2:40pm
efd:

Hey this guy is covering that J. Geils Band song!
  2:42pm
Matt from Springfield:

People always sing about Love-Itis, but no one ever does anything about it. The CDC should invest more in researching it...

@efd: Wow, J. Geils covered this? Popular 80s era, or unknown 70s band era?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
Fiveash:

Hahaha! And I got this record at Cheapo! Maybe Peter Wolf sold one of his dozens of copies recently.
  2:43pm
efd:

@Matt I believe you mean "local sensation '70s era" or "'80s sellout era."
  2:44pm
Matt from Springfield:

Belt it out, Soul Sisters!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
efd:

(and the answer is 1975, for the record)
  2:46pm
Matt from Springfield:

@efd: That is often the dynamic; Bob Seger is one I think of as a "local sensation", since he was very well known in the Detroit era from the late 60s on, but didn't get super popular national attention until the mid 70s.

And thanks! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
Fiveash:

"Jerk your head and arms right off"!!!
  2:51pm
Stinky:

HIPPIES!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm
Fiveash:

Yes! Hippies playing the "blues"!
  2:53pm
Stinky:

Like they invented 'em!
  2:54pm
ken in denver:

I always dug that hippie blues record. And this Don Nix record too!
  2:54pm
Matt from Springfield:

Sweetwater is the better hippie blues band from Woodstock!

@Fiveash: Which W-stock performers do you think would fit best into this show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
Fiveash:

More hippies comin' up!
  2:55pm
ken in denver:

Er. Freddie King ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm

Sha Na Na and Melanie.

Speaking of which, RIP Ravi. Not dead, but a soul who's migrated on.
  2:57pm
Stinky:

Groovy.
  2:57pm
Matt from Springfield:

Good ones! I like Melanie Safka as well.

Obviously Sha Na Na; my FAVORITE part about their performance - they were the first group on the second day, so the attendees waking up probably thought they were hallucinating!! :D
  2:58pm
ken in denver:

What Ichiban needs is more Bowser.
  3:00pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Guess who eats together at the Carnegie Deli?
Bowzer from Sha Na Na and Arthur Fonzarelli"!

Happy Hanukkah!
  3:05pm
Matt from Springfield:

SHANGRI-LAS!! Love these ladies.
Audition 4 female singers for a tribute band, Shangri La Na Na.
  3:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

See ya Fiveash!
  3:17pm
Fiveash:

Thanks all for everything, see you next week for the stupid bullshit Christmas show!
  11:18am
Dolly Shot:

Hey there! I just did a search for WFMU Ink Spots and found this link....from the other day! Brilliant set list! Can't wait to listen to it at work! <3
