Congrats on playing maybe the first Toots Thielemans track I've ever dug! And congrats on the year's worth of other diggables you've served up in '12! It's been a great year of Sunday evenings.

Howdy, Miss Mon and faithful attendants. You'll never in a billion years guess where I'm going in a short while, but I wanted to stop by and wish Monica a Merry and a Happy, and to all her listeners, please enjoy the adapted pagan solstice observance of your choice.

My dark holiday thought: Rabbi Schneerson returns to the planet, resurrected (in Boro Park,of course) on the 26th, thus proving wrong the teachings of Christianity. Then he goes on TV and announces he intends to go to Herkimer, NY, and will from there walk to Salt Lake City...
  7:41pm
G:

Stealing a few minutes away from family. Mental health break :)
  7:43pm
deanland:

Schneerson also announces he will be taking Darlene Love and Brittany Spears as additional wives. Darlene for the music, Brittany for reproductive services.
  7:46pm
david:

Amid the Holiday Shopping Hordes, there's at least the solace of knowing you're not quite yet sitting across a table from certain reprehensible relatives. :)
  7:47pm

34th St. is the hell looking for my friend Jeff to get the hell out of hell some Amtrak guy kicks me off the platform because Jeff has my ticket saying I'm trespassing without a ticket and calls the cops on me. I found Jeff and left, but one more minute they would have detained me as a terrorist.

  8:00pm
david:

If only John had thought twice about that controversial remark, Paul could've gone ahead with the original lyric: "Jesus! Look what you're doing!"
  8:01pm
tr;sh:

I've intentionally walked into few people on the sidewalk who've had their heads down, glued to a screen.
  8:01pm
Parq:

What burns my bacon when I'm out and about in town is what's been done -- I blame the suburbanites and Giuliani, myself -- to rob the city of its unique character and make living here just like living in the rest of America, where you shop at Wal-Mart, get everywhere by private car and are guaranteed racial homogeneity in your home neighborhood. When a city person (former suburbanite, like me) burbles about how happy she is to see yet another Starbucks or 7-11 opening up, or a traffic crossing closed to pedestrians, or local school getting an increasingly all-white student population, I want to scream "What did you come to the city for, anyway, since it obviously wasn't to get away from suburban mores and culture like it was with me??"
  8:02pm
I X Key!:

Ah
  8:05pm
zotz:

I'm old enough to remember the city before McDonalds. John Prine is still a big deal...now and forever. Let's all survive Christmas eh folks?
  8:07pm
sweet cheri:

well monica, i'm outa here, so sorry but last minute wrapping,, happy new year!!!
  8:07pm
david:

True, tr;sh... Certainly less tolerant of those gaggles of kids in midtown now that they're also simultaneously looking down at their portable screens while walking...
  8:08pm
zotz:

But yeah M. Parq, you are right. Though Koch started the ball rolling downhill.
Avatar 8:10pm
monica:

hear hear, zotz...yes, parq! agree...sweet cheri, have a lovely one, dear...tr;sh, love that...Guy Walker, the worst, right?.... marc, it's a swell cover by roberio duprat... tomB, it's a good one, hadn't heard myself for a minute...CB1!!! NO!!!
  8:11pm
sweet cheri:

to the qeen of sunday nights--merry christmas.
  8:13pm
zotz:

Man those dancers seem to keep every beat...
  8:14pm
Windy City:

Monica thanks for making 2012 a better year !
  8:14pm
tr;sh:

It's a reflective sorta mean because before, both parties would move a little. Maybe even smile or say 'excuse me'. Rude phone glue force the other to do all the moving.
No way. Let's play an imbalanced game of chicken.
  8:14pm
david:

there's always the mental tack of "willing" the hordes to move faster, or trip up in some non-lethal, embarrassing mishap
  8:16pm
Tir Chonail Abu:

Finally tuned In live again just had to before the year was out. Merry Xmas Monica glad to hear you finally moved. All the best great to hear your show again and to see all the old faces.

Midtown cash cattle in slow moving herds..where are the shepherds?
