Can't remember the last time I was here for Amanda, she's either been gone or I have.

What happened to those Throwing Muses University bumper stickers I used to see?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
Amanda:

G, your boss talking over me??? How dare she?
  12:04pm
Carmichael:

Hey, that's the Instant Mash riff. Joe Jackson's lifted enough material from others that he probably doesn't care.
  12:04pm
listener james from westwood:

good wednesday, amanda and all! will be in and out but will have my ears on the show thruout!

Ricardo Montalban:

Can anyone from NY verify whether Handsome Dick still has his bar or not?
  12:10pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I destroyed my eardrums blasting The Dictators version of this song on 8-track with headphones when I was a teenager.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Amanda:

Manitoba's on Avenue B is still active.
  12:15pm
Rich Z. - New Jersey, U.S.A.:

This is the kind of music my parents warned me about.
  12:20pm
Doug S.:

Remember when Handsome Dick was the celebrity bartender at the first-ever WFMU record fair at the Elk's Lodge in Hoboken? All the partying in the bar area of the Elk's Lodge chewed up the parquet floor and WFMU had to pay for it. (We always thought the floor was in crappy shape before the record fair. Sigh.)

Indeed! BTW, not intended to be an homage to Handsome Dick, but I'm glad it worked out that way.

Somehow these dick songs remind me of George Carlin's schtick about "tits."

A time-honored tradition, then?

Hi, Martha!

Gaylord Fields:

I always suspected you were a 13-year old boy. This just confirms it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Amanda:

Hi Gaylord! Yes, I wondered if there was ever any doubt about my true "soul age" and "soul gender."
  1:00pm
Gaylord Fields:

That could have been better hyphenated (13-year-old). I have a reputation to protect.
Avatar 1:01pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Gaylord: Look at Sarah Silverman as well--gross 13 year old boys are the new trendy 30 something ladies.
  1:01pm
glenn:

is it over?
  1:01pm
Ricardo Manitoba:

That song had more dicks in it than a police convention
  1:02pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Amanda: None whatsoever, dude. And I say that as someone who was a 13-year-old boy for a few years myself.
Avatar 1:03pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Before that was Elvis Costello & The Attractions, singing about...not dicks."

Gaylord Fields:

I love band/song reversals: I would have announced it as "Dr. Feelgood doing 'Roxette,' and not the other way around."
Avatar 1:04pm

@Gaylord: You must be at least 17 now!
I hope to someday "grow up" to at least 13, maybe older!

Amanda:

Part of the genius of it is that they don't overthink the grammar or how to make "My Dick" fit contextually within each phrase -- ofttimes it seems they are just replacing syllables. It's very casual.

@northguineahills -- my little sister had one! Boys in my class loved Care Bears too, which was great until I had Baby Hugs and Baby Tugs stolen from me by a boy.
