I once waited on him (in L.A. - around 1985) and his wife was breast feeding and the baby fell asleep while feeding - so they didnt want to move - so they say there & talked music for a while. Nice guy...

It's a shame Jerry got ousted from the telethon - I always wanted to donate an insane amount (once I became super-rich) and request a world premiere of the rough cut of The Day The Clown Cried.

Once drove his wife back from McCarren Airport in Las Vegas. Since he was involved in a conversation, I decided not to hang around for the tip. When he saw me leaving he flagged me down & did gave me a nice tip. 'Nice guy' was my impression too.

The worst thing about those record hoarders is when they put their rejects back in boxes you've already gone through. Happens every time at the Housing Works street fair.

Thanks for the very detailed description of seeing Jerry these days. I saw him in "Damn Yankees" at the Kennedy Center in 96 and he was superb, like in "King of Comedy." I wrote him an over-the-top letter telling him how good he was and he called me. Left a message on my machine with his dressing room and hotel numbers. I called him back and it was a brief conversation.
