I listened to "Big Beat" a lot..i know it's not there most popular, but i love it

exotic creatures of the deep is pretty good. "this is the renaissance" is hilarious.
Avatar 12:45pm

The more recent (2000's) Sparks like Balls and Hello Young Lovers is every bit as sharp as mid-70's Indiscreet. Less production, same songwriting.

for some reason I felt the urge to order the pre-10cc Hotlegs album and a colletction of everything they spit on from 1970-1973
Avatar 1:07pm
Cecile:

and waterfall, one of their b-sides is one of the greatest hippie spoofs ever, but plays it straight until the very last line.
Avatar 1:07pm
Cecile:

I didn't order that, though. Did you play that once, Duane, or was it CLay. Hum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm

@steve, I really like #1 In Heaven but also have to give props to Propaganda and Indiscreet, the two albums that really made me a fan way back when.
Avatar 1:08pm
Eli:

@Mike, thanks man! I must have clicked the heart. This is a smooth one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm

But really it's hard to go wrong with any of Kimono My House / Propaganda / Indiscreet / Introducing / No. 1 In Heaven and/or Angst in My Pants.

why not so many Kimono fans?

But a totally fab show so far!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm

I feel like Introducing gets overlooked a lot, but it's great -
"Forever Young" is one of my most favorite Sparks songs.
Avatar 1:14pm
Cecile:

Is that like Portfolio Day here, Jan? All the seniors in my class are getting twitchy getting last minute stuff for their books.
Avatar 1:16pm
Jan Audun Uretsky:

My freshman year at Vassar a floor mate only listened to Sparks, nothing else, it was both kinda cool and a little unnerving...
Avatar 1:17pm
Cecile:

That would be, Jan!
Avatar 1:17pm
Jan Audun Uretsky:

No way as bad as the guy across the hall who listened to "Roxanne" over and over and over, and remember this was his putting the needle back to the start of the track over and over...
Avatar 1:18pm
Cecile:

yikes
But I'm afraid I must have subjected one roommate to that---I must have played the B-52s album about 400 times straight.
Avatar 1:19pm
Droll:

My junior year roommate only listened to the Grateful Dead. Not cool, very unnerving.

I think he's the one who stole my copy of The Spot by Snakefinger and threw it away. Playing that song all the way through even once was considered "overplayed".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm
tim from champaign:

Ha! Just came back in from a fire drill. Was hanging with my friend outside who explained he happened to be working on nitrate film when the alarm went off.
Avatar 1:20pm
steve:

geez, glad i didn't start dorm life til Audiogalaxy. a friend at a different school did once tell me his alcoholic freshman roommate listened to nothing but Aretha Franklin for an entire semester.
Avatar 1:21pm
Jan Audun Uretsky:

It took my quite a while to tolerate the B-52s, since, again at Vassar, all the preppies would fall on the floor and kick around during "Rock Lobster" they thought it was very punk...
Avatar 1:21pm
robyn:

@steve propaganda is great. some of my favorite sparks lyrics.
Avatar 1:21pm
robyn:

"the purple heart for valor please/and no heart for you denise" - reinforcements
Avatar 1:23pm
Cecile:

we thought it was too, because we were in podunk ville and it was a shock to us to hear it on the radio. We'd call and request it all the time.
Avatar 1:23pm
Jan Audun Uretsky:

No Cecile, it's not portfolio day, it's the review of all the work of the graduating ComD and Illustration students, the faculty goes around for 3 hours and reviews it, the best work gets into a big public show at the Manhattan Center on 34th street about a week later...
Avatar 1:24pm
