Matt, just saw your Rascals comment. This was a big broadway production of reunion of original lineup. It was produced by Steve Van Zandt. And Eddie Brigati easily steals the show

Why had I never heard that Phil Seymour track? Solid, solid power pop. Another one buried by a backward-thinking record company (or one going broke) I suppose. Good stuff.

Avatar 2:20am

People can have favorites but really as a country singer no one's close to Jones. I was in Nashville when He stopped loving her first hit. It was absolutely everywhere. It was the last great country song and maybe the end of the genre.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25am
Joe McG:

No, KP, I wouldn't go that far, but it sure must have been a doozy.

Yeah, "Almost Persuaded"!

@Joe: I heard a news item on that--maybe Classical isn't, but come on! They should be hip enough to realize that this stuff is "future Classical" music from Nashville, and deserves a tribute! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34am
Joe McG:

I just watched that video that George did with his daughter and I thought the song was kind of touching.
Avatar 2:34am
KP:

Joe, play Radio Lover but don't follow the example of the DJ in the song.
Avatar 2:36am
Matt from Springfield:

I once heard a George J. song on Willie's Roadhouse sirius channel, where the narrator is saddened by the death of Elvis, and since he just broke up with his girl he pours whiskey in a Flintstones glass.

The tagline: "Yabba dabba do / The King is gone / And so are you!" a country breakup song, Elvis tribute AND novelty chorus all in one! Why it took them 30 years to give him a Kennedy Center Honor for that is criminal!! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36am
Joe McG:

@KP: Ha ha! I'm just going to do one more, I think. I've played a few faves. I'll leave the big tributes to others.
Avatar 2:37am

I saw Garth Brook's first performance on Nashville Now. I thought this guy is going to be huge and he just killed country music.
