Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Thanks for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I do appreciate it. This week found me a bit under the weather with a cold. Enough so that it kind of kept me off the streets where interviews were concerned, save the Motley Crue guy in the park. Thought I would play a story instead. Hope you enjoyed it. I really like writing simply about the Mid-west in the 70's, probably because I was there. As for the flea market finds, perhaps I overdo them sometimes. I did like this batch, though. I always love playing music, but it's not what we're really supposed to do in the time-slot. Not much else to add this week except thanks again and I hope you keep checking out the program when you can. Thanks for your supportive email lately. You can always drop a line at : dusty@wfmu.org. Until next time, enjoy the Spring, take care, and ... always remember.

Fights were- seemingly- so much more straightforward back in the day, none of this hiding behind the internet. I guess the latter just makes things that much worse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm

Monologist is the most common spelling.
'
have I heard Yellow River since the early 70s on CKLW?? Maybe not.

Aw man, missed a Clay story! Oh well, now's a good time to come in :)

Hi Clay and everyone!

Night Al:

Wow...I wonder when the last time Sack Dress was played on the radio?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm
G:

And I haven't heard this doowoppy number since ever at all.
Avatar 6:23pm
sFrances from VA:

I'm going to have to relisten to the story, my neighbor was going full throttle with his lawnmower. Which added to ambience in a way but....
Avatar 6:23pm
Carmichael:

Christie is actually a British band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm

@G: Ya know the last time I heard that doowoopy number? Nineteen Sixty NEVER!!

Somewhere within him Fabio has love for this Nazareth...
Avatar 6:27pm
sFrances from VA:

Fabio: It's ok to like Foetus *and* Nazareth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm
Matt from Springfield:

@G: YES. Nazareth, AC/DC, Humble Pie, many high register full power metal male vocalists in the mix.
Avatar 6:27pm
Carmichael:

And Conrad Schnitzler and ABBA.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Carm: The problem isn't so much pitting Conrad Schnitzler against ABBA--it's like pitting Conrad Schnitzler against Rick Dees!
Avatar 6:29pm
sFrances from VA:

On the other hand: this. is. beyond. Just.beyond.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm
G:

@Matt: I mean, I've heard so much more GnR running up and down the radio dial in the last 20 years that the Naz vocals sounded weirdly like Axl R., A LOT -- but OF COURSE it's totally the other way round...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

@G: I'm younger, so I first heard Nazareth as "a 70s GnR"..of course GnR is really an 80s Nazareth!! :D
  6:30pm
Night Al:

I grabbed his mike stand to fast at one of his load outs and his echoplex tube whipped spittle in my mouth. Not cool.
Avatar 6:31pm

The only good reason to cell phone record a concert instead of immersing yourself into the concert, is if you're on the lookout for the singer to fall off stage or get attacked on stage (Biebz! ;) And, you only need ONE audience member to do that.
  6:34pm
Nate:

What's Fabio talking about?
  6:34pm
God:

Thanks, Clay, for bringing out Fabio's humanity

Once I was at a beer garden with long tables and there was a pause in conversation. I glanced up the length of the table, and everyone one was holding up their phone and showing something to the person across from them. I thought the universe was about to collapse.

Hovercraft has been cited as one of the most abrasive, non-commercial sounding bands ever to receive major-label distribution for its albums.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Carm: I'm huge in the Philippines (#5 on their pop chart this week), but then again, who isn't??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm
Todd76Pct:

Hovercraft was a buzz band for a hot mid-90's minute, mostly because Beth Liebling, a founding member, was married to Eddie Vedder, who sometimes guested on drums. Had the misfortune of playing the Knitting Factory in the 90's w/ an improv band the same packed-to-the-gills night they were making their NYC debut there...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm
G:

How could he leave this behind??? :)
  6:46pm
Night Al:

Jase the Ace got married yeterday to a woman he met while touring with Jon Oliva's Pain in England. She's nice. They had their reception at the old Quarterdeck last night and I jammed with Dana Piper, Joe Diaz and Jason Jennings. Felt good.
