Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

You can quit smoking, Clay, I know you can! It'll suck at first, but worth it.

You'd think so, Dale.

Avatar 6:10pm
Matt from Springfield:

First off, the IRS scandal:
Number 1: That was discriminatory, they specifically singled out groups of a certain political opinion for extra scrunity. We shouldn't do that in America and it was probably not allowed.
And Number 2: The Teabaggers shouldn't get tax exempt status, I agree with that wholeheartedly. NO political group should, they are not charitable groups. But you can't discriminate bit by bit, we need a law that strips tax privileges from all political groups and treats them equally. (Fat chance though, political parties and the officials they back protect that legalized racket).

Chases pigeon yet again trying to next under my A/C. Not sure what that has to do w/ anything, but neither do most of my posts.
Avatar 6:11pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: Surface noise of authenticity!
@Carm: You were wandering Haight-Asbury as a tween? That's awesome, from a historical standpoint. I went walking through there in 2009, now one of the corners of Haight & Asbury is occupied by a Ben & Jerrys. Typical of the times.
Avatar 6:12pm
northguineahills:

Unless x amount goes strictly to charity, no organization should be tax exempt. x should be greater then the current threshold.
Avatar 6:14pm
Matt from Springfield:

There was an old time hippie/beatnik/hobo selling back issues of the "Haight Asbury Literary Journal", which I bought as a souvenir. And there's an Amoeba Records there -- that place is the SHIT! :D But just like George Harrison's disillusionment after seeing Haight Asbury; he thought it was a great spiritual revival, as I first thought when I heard about the Hippies. But he went there and found "a bunch of dropouts on drugs" instead.
Avatar 6:15pm
Carmichael:

I was 10 or so, hanging out with my older brother and trying to act cool. In my desert boots and Beach Boys striped shirt.
Avatar 6:15pm
Matt from Springfield:

@interviewee: But if we shouldn't have called it "global warming", or "climate change", WHAT should we call it? Global warming is inaccurate, as many spots on the globe would cool under that scenario, so climate change is the best term.
  6:16pm
dale:

no, he said we SHOULD call it climate change
Avatar 6:17pm
Matt from Springfield:

YEAH NGH!! *So* agree!

@Carm: If "hipsters" as we know them today were around them, you might have gotten props for being "ironic" by being 3-4 years behind the times :)

As for Benghazi, my Number 1 is: IRAQ PART II. They CHOSE that, that was an elective war in every case. For no good reason that killed 5,000 US troops and God-only-really-knows how many Iraqis (in the 100,000s....).
Number 2: Bad things happen sometimes. That's why you had the Executive branch Accountability Board and a previous Legislative branch hearing.
Number 3: Have the Republicans EVER mentioned and condemned the terrorist group that actually did this (Ansar al Sharia), instead of looking for political hay??? There's a Kahlil Gibran parable of that nature.

They carp on *Hillary* for covering for the Prez?
- & people extoll the virtues & achievements of CondoSleazer? I love *some* things about 'America' - but a Country & Culture like that...'America' is a small word for a Very Large & Complicated Thing - for a lotta things: I Love "It"/I Hate "It": You always have to Define Terms in these discussions. Do I love the Grand Canyon? Do I love Richard Nixon? The birth of Rhythm & Blues? J. Edgar Hoover? The Cherokee Nation? The Hope for Immigrants & Refugees fleeing tyranny? - All this & vastly more is 'America' - & people want jingoistic soundbites...
