Hey there guys!
Avatar 3:07am C.S.:

Hello all. (The magical WiFi Fairy has returned to my room after a long absence.)
Avatar 3:09am fred von helsing:

stuck in a meeting. the spirit is willing but the schedule is weak.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:11am Julie:

Aww FVH what will we do without you? Glad your WIFI is working C.S. mine at home has been poorly lately
Avatar 3:12am C.S.:

Have no idea where it comes from but my lap top picks it up every now and then. :)
Avatar 3:12am flashback:

as usual i can`t sleep, so i am listening to this great music.

Is the annoying music show back? Is Irwin awake and in there with you?
Avatar 3:24am KP:

Is this All About the Eve i know on Twitter.
Avatar 3:26am fred von helsing:

got a few minutes free... Aah, Annie...
Avatar 3:26am KP:

Renaissance! i was just thinking of them. Always welcome.
Avatar 3:28am KP:

You wouldn't think they somehow grew out of the Yardbirds, but they somehow did.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:28am Julie:

It's their "hit" but I felt like hearing it
Avatar 3:29am KP:

Do you have that other version of this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31am Goyim in the AM:

Poor Keith Relf.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:34am Julie:

nice name, goyim!
Avatar 3:34am KP:

Yeah, GITAM. Tough to best be remembered by the way you go and nt what you did. Ive been checking them out on youtube. The Yardbirds were so early they werent lip-synching at first.
Avatar 3:35am KP:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37am Goyim in the AM:

Fantastic songwriter and singer, helluva harp player, best remembered for bad grounding. So sad. Thanks Julie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40am Goyim in the AM:

...but I need you to know, Julie, that since you played "Blood Roses", I have had the Bob's Burger Amos parody "Oil Slick" on endless loop in my head...
  3:43am Conrad Birdy:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:45am Julie:

heheh hi Conrad!
Avatar 3:46am KP:

I wrote a little thing about Robyn Hitchcock today on Facebook. it was about his and the Egyptians shows on FMu meant so much to me. Just now putting it on a blog im starting. Cosmic coincidence.
  3:47am Conrad Birdy:

Aloha babe! :-)
Avatar 3:47am KP:

Buy records!
  3:50am Conrad Birdy:

Can these playlists be played at any time?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:50am Julie:

yes, they're all archived!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51am Goyim in the AM:

In a just world, John McVie would be revered as a bass genius by everyone.
  3:52am Conrad Birdy:

Wow! Awesome (for us listeners, anyway!) :-)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:52am Julie:

Is he?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:52am Julie:

yep not everyone is awake!
  3:53am that diabetic guy:

The classic rock stations that use to be up the dial use to play this song a lot of times. And Stevie nicks does have a sexy voice. But I liked nicholette lardons voice better
  3:54am that diabetic guy:

Nicholette Larson -lotta love
Avatar 3:56am KP:

Ryan Adams I think did great cover of "Rhiannon" but I cant find evidence of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56am Guido (Cologne):

Hi you all out there!
Belated comment:
That is not the Relf / McCarty-incarnation of Rennaissance if it is from 1978, is it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57am Goyim in the AM:

He is. So much of what he does is actually really hard to play well; the funny bit is that his one show-offy moment (the outro of "The Chain") isn't hard to play at all. But if you really concentrate on his lines while listening to "Rumours", you realize that he has these incredible counter-melodies going on all the time that never get in the way and that are so solid you could sit on them, like a chair. That their coke-fueled live concerts weren't disasters is all up to his playing.
  3:58am Conrad Birdy:

Avatar 3:58am KP:

DEnny Laine of Wings was original Moody Blues singer. THey did "Go Now" with him. And Bob Welch "Sentimental Lady" was in similarly mellow version of FM right before Nicks.
Avatar 4:00am KP:

Buy records!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00am Goyim in the AM:

For this old punk, keying in on the rhythm section is when the penny dropped that mellow FM is not actually mellow at all, and all the better for it.
Avatar 4:02am KP:

I saw FM with Peter Green at a club. I was leaning on stage. Mick Fleetwood was unbelievable.
Avatar 4:04am KP:

Avatar 4:04am KP:

(also keying in on the non-rhythm section is when I lost my pre-adolescent Doors fandom.)

Avatar 4:22am C.S.:

What a nice song by Skinner Box. I'm unfamiliar with this one.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:22am Julie:

she made a couple lovely albums then no more. Bummer
Avatar 4:23am KP:

Avatar 4:24am C.S.:

Bummer indeed.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:25am Julie:

I think she became a writer, Julianna Towns, she also did some Black Tape stuff
  4:25am Meghan:

Morning all
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:26am Julie:

morning, Meghan!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:26am Julie:

just in time for the Mazzy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26am Goyim in the AM:

The alternative universe where Genesis took a year off after Lamb and then everybody decided that they liked each other and they maed another Gabriel-led album: that would have been a hell of a record.
  4:27am Meghan:

So how was Mazzy Star in an airplane hanger?
Avatar 4:27am fred von helsing:

The more members Genesis lost, the more popular they got. Go figure.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:28am Julie:

Great! they sound like you expect, she was in the dark often with her hand in front of her face
Avatar 4:28am KP:

Morning Meghan.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:28am Julie:

I'm not sure where Wind and Wuthering fits in but I love that phil collins fronted album
Avatar 4:29am KP:

FVH, that's same for a few bands mentioned here tonight/this morning.
Avatar 4:31am fred von helsing:

<3 Nena auf der Gesungen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31am Goyim in the AM:

I mean, it would have been a bloated concept record around Moribund the Burgermeister, but it would've rocked.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:31am Julie:

thought you'd appreciate this FVH! She also did this one in english
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:32am Julie:

Were Gabriel and Collins in the band at the same time? Phil on drums?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32am Goyim in the AM:

Yup. Collins sings a lot on Lamb.
  4:33am (-_-):

How far is too far?
  4:34am (-_-):

Bless the 80s
Avatar 4:35am fred von helsing:

Yup she's got a great voice. The perfect Teu-Tonic for what ails ya :)
Avatar 4:35am KP:

Hope you have some Luft Balloons for your Birthday, Julie.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:35am Julie:

There are moments when they are quite similar, to my ear anyhow. Gabriel is raspier
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36am Goyim in the AM:

Saw Nena as part of a really bloated Udo Lindenburg show in Frankfurt around 2000. My God, what a talented singer. My God, what lousy material most of it was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37am Goyim in the AM:

Also Collins has a much stronger London dialect, which is what makes it easy to tell when he sings on Lamb.
Avatar 4:39am fred von helsing:

I couldn't listen to an entire France Gall collection. So much middling twee. But a few songs here and there, like this one, have some real mise-en-scene (or sumpink).
  4:39am Conrad Birdie:

Peter Gabriel somehow evolved to becoming one of my faves over the decades. Not sure how it happened, but it did.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:39am davex:

Hi Julie - this is a set that just keeps on giving...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:41am Julie:

Glad you like it davex!
  4:42am Meghan:

Oh typical. I'm in the shower for Mazzy Star!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:42am Julie:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:47am Julie:

Conrad digs the Donovan?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:47am Julie:

I wish he'd come here and play again
Avatar 4:48am BadGibletZero:

Conrad's being sincere.
Avatar 4:48am Andy in Berlin:

I always liked this Donovan song - thanks!
  4:49am Meghan:

Is say that about pretty much every Cocteau Twins album. But that was how I used to listen to them
Avatar 4:49am KP:

Does he still play? It was an honor to see him.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:49am davex:

Donovan - this is where I got on this morning.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:50am davex:

Hi Andy - long time no playlist...
Avatar 4:50am KP:

This sounds great too. Very JA.
Avatar 4:51am KP:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:52am Julie:

glad to see you made it home in one piece Giblet
  4:52am Conrad Birdie:

Yessss, Conrad really digs Donovan... Where'd Donovan go? I thought I was just listening to him and my eyes glazed over in pleasure and suddenly I'm listening to something else...
Avatar 4:53am KP:

BGZ, finally saw MBV. One observation: the opening band was louder.
Avatar 4:54am fred von helsing:

music hath charms to soothe the savage wage slave
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:55am Julie:

Conrad he has that effect on me too! Nick Drake here too. And Leonard Cohen
Avatar 4:56am KP:

Picked up the Molly Drake disc yesterday. Lovely and haunting. like him.
Avatar 4:57am KP:

Oops. Gotta go. Bye, Julie.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:58am Julie:

Conrad have you heard Dead Can Dance, the voice on that man..he's coming up next set
Avatar 5:02am fred von helsing:

I heartily recommend DCD in concert. Voices carry.
  5:03am KP:

Super show.
  5:04am Conrad Birdie:

Conrad eagerly awaits Dead Can Dance. Conrad is slightly afraid because suddenly there is no music or Julie voice.
Conrad suspects screen refresh is in order?
Conrad will give that a shot...
Avatar 5:05am Andy in Berlin:

That Donovan interview on Jonesville is really cool. And he does a great Dylan impression. :)
Avatar 5:06am fred von helsing:

guilty as charged, M'lud.

Avatar 5:09am BadGibletZero:

  5:17am Conrad Birdie:

I will NEVER forget our "Doors" party. We sure had some good times! The best times were just hanging at your house. Lots of great memories for me.
Avatar 5:19am fred von helsing:

This chill stuff is nice but I'm still on a Savages high whee :-D
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:19am Julie:

I saw DCD last year, loved it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23am Goyim in the AM:

Saw them in the 90s as a non-fan, left as an impressed non-fan.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:24am Julie:

for me it is all about Brendan, not too into Lisa's songs
  5:28am Conrad Birdie:

I can hear a hint of Kate Bush in her voice...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:29am Julie:

oh yeah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29am Goyim in the AM:

It was a very weird experience -- like seeing two or three bands only vaguely related on stage at the same time. Also on-stage weeping to the tribal drumming stuff is a little off.putting when you's just finished co-inventing emo.
Avatar 5:29am fred von helsing:

@conrad oh yes
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:29am Julie:

kate's coming up, of course
  5:30am Conrad Birdie:

  5:40am Conrad Birdie:

OMG, serious, that was Madonna????
Avatar 5:41am fred von helsing:

whoa that rocked in an odd way :)
  5:41am Conrad Birdie:

YES!! KATE BUSH!!! Mahalo Julie!! THIS is what I needed. I may have to put the whole album on after this just for the full effect.
  5:42am Conrad Birdie:

@ Fred, it kinda DID and I was so embarassed when I looked to see who it was. LOL!
  5:45am Conrad Birdie:
