Oh man, so I've narrowed my swag choices to just 59 DJ premiums. Well, a week left for the rest of the pruning.

I was behind on my local newspaper and didn't find out until last night that Wappingers Falls had their St. Patrick's parade yesterday afternoon. So, good to hear the pipes. Makes up for it a bit.

Now that Tom Sharpling has left, the fundraising crown is there for the taking. Help Glen Jones claim it, help the station, and get that flask in the process

I will say tomasz that taylor ham is totally worth a trip to New Jersey :) Your first taylor ham sandwich is on me if we cross paths here :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Caryn:

If I had a bucket list, it would probably include some sandwiches. Like a taylor ham one, and a cheesesteak one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
fred:

Taylor ham (or pork roll) does seem to be something I should regret I'll never experience

Is Taylor ham really only available in Tristate area and philly area? I never knew that growing up, I thought everyone had it.

Taylor Ham needs to call in a pledge!!!!!
or better yet should cater next weekends extended show ~
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm

I remember someone saying he found Taylor ham in Texas, so there's hope
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm
SeanG:

I wish Jonesy would play "Institutionalized" by Suicidal Tendencies right now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
Caryn:

@Marcel: I think it's available elsewhere, but called something else. I've seen a map that divided areas according to what Taylor ham was called.

LovecraftDude888:

oh no Taylor ham...I haven't even eaten Canadian bacon in 20 years, nearly. I can eat it with Diabetes but it's full of fat and nitrates...just don't eat gallons! haha sounds good though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm
Doug Schulkind:

@SeanG
MP3 of it, right here in the FMU blog: blog.wfmu.org...
  1:56pm
LovecraftDude888:

Taylor appears to mainly be a NJ tristate area phenom. for some reason. OMG it's loaded with cholest. and sodium. oof. I'd better stay off it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
Caryn:

@fleep: the pork roll glass X-mas tree ornament is the highlight of those pages. Well, apart from the tastykakes, which are making me seriously hungry.
  1:59pm
mike east:

Taylor ham and Canadian bacon are two totally different pork products...Taylor ham being vastly superior.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm
fred:

@Caryn: the glowing map of NJ premium did feature the Taylor ham/pork roll divide. Was that where you saw it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
Caryn:

@fred: nope. Well, of course I've seen that too, but I've seen a more extensive map with the different names online somewhere.
  2:04pm
mike east:

@lcd - Probably a good idea to moderate one's intake of Taylor ham, diabetic or otherwise

Thanks Doug! I'm trying to get my ex-girlfriend to pledge to the Drummer Stream. We had many intimate moments dancing to the Drummer Stream!

@Caryn As a calf in Philadelphia, I was more or less made of Tastykakes, based on consumption. There are sugar free versions now and I'm always tempted.

@fleep: see, I've never had a tastykake, and I just want to try every variety. If only they sold them or Hostess products over here. Or decent peanut butter. *Sigh...*

"By the time I get my gun out, you'll be able to kill me six times over." WHHHAAAAAT? This is the FIRST TIME in RECORDED HISTORY that a member of the NRA has EVER ADMITTED THIS even though it's true of most of them and they all think they live in an action movie! WOW! It's a historic moment, people! AMAZING! See, this is why I have come around to X-Ray Burns over the past several years! Amazing radio here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
JimB:

Taylor Ham/pork roll aficionados all have a style preference: either thin-sliced, thick-sliced, or hand-sliced. Glen once revealed his personal preference to me in an e-mail. My suggestion: Glen will provide the answer to that question either a) on the air, if a certain monetary level is achieved, or b) by phone staff off the air to each individual pledger. Wouldn't the entire IBJ kill to know?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Caryn:

Jones' & X. Ray's remark about the pledger message that sounds like a secret message reminds me of the old story, often said to involve Arthur Conan Doyle, that a person decided to send an anonymous message to a number of his friends, saying, "We are discovered. Flee now." to see how his friends would react. One disappeared, and was never heard from again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
fred:

@Caryn: Nice one, and new to me. Thanks for that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
Ike:

Thanks Sean! @Caryn, Tastykakes aren't THAT great -- a very American kind of flavor, fakey, full of preservatives, nostalgia, and a weirdly appealing unnaturally creamy texture -- baked goods as reimagined by machines, but 1000 times better than Entenmann's, etc. But woah, you can't get decent peanut butter in Finland?! Ugh! Can you get it shipped from the U.S.?
  2:45pm
tomasz.:

Danne, it's me, tom from Glasgow, i last saw you like two days ago ;-)
  2:47pm
tomasz.:

don't worry, you don't have to buy me
a sammy now tho, ha ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm
Caryn:

@fred: just mail that message to 6 of your friends, and see if some of them vanish into the night ;)

@Ike: I've been trying to find a place that ships internationally, but no success so far. We are very limited in terms of snack foods and treats. Peanut butter and various peanut butter candies? Nope. Donuts? Crappy shop-bought stuff and one cafe chain, but no other donut sources. Bagels? See donuts. Vanilla or cherry coke? Were available for like a month, and then nothing. Slushies? I know exactly 2 places in the country where you can get them. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. On the plus side, we seem to have an exceptional variety of lactose- and dairy-free ice creams.

Caryn, I'd trade all that for your variety of lactose- and dairy-free ice creams! Mmm! Well, I'd miss PB, but I'd still make that trade. I'd offer to swap via mail, but somehow I don't think yr ice cream would make it to the U.S. intact! Ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm
Caryn:

@Ike: Heh! I think we have to accept our fates. But also agree that if you should visit our fair country, I'll treat you to some ice cream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm

@Caryn: even if I had that many friends, they couldn't afford to flee, and we're all known to be noxious persons anyway. Not much to disclose there

taylor ham is made exclusively in NJ. (Trenton). it is God's food.
