Billy Eckstine just kicked Richard Harris' ass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm
mariano:

Hi Gaylord, everyone -- we can all kick it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Uncle Michael: Yes, he can -- and he did!

Whooda:

Paris Waltz? Those French folks sure do dance funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm
Gaylord Fields:

They sing with their feet and dance with their face.
Avatar 6:17pm
Whooda:

@Gaylord, sounds like they got there strings all tangled up.

@P-90. Greetings to you and everyone else currently straddling two mediums.
Avatar 6:29pm
dk:

wow, that should song has a truly fantastic stephin merritt feel about it.
  6:30pm
P-90:

--"two media"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm
Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: I chose "mediums" deliberately, as is my wont.
  6:34pm
zbs:

Wishes ARE fishes
  6:35pm
P-90:

--gotta check out the Del Shannon catalog
@DJ G.: It's a grammatically legal choice,
and you are entitled to your wont, Sir.

Whooda:

I dated a medium once, she gave horrible palm reading.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm
Uncle Michael:

The Further Adventures Of Charles Westover is a recent revelation to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm
Uncle Michael:

Gaylord might know a thing or two about grammar. I'm just saying.
Avatar 6:38pm
Whooda:

@Uncle Michael straddling two mediums at once is probably every psychics fantasy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm
Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: If you're rolling in the dough, buy the Home and Away box set on Bear Family. It's revelatory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm
Gaylord Fields:

This is for you, Uncle Michael, to follow up on an earlier conversation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm
Uncle Michael:

I turned my head to the playlist in order to confirm the flash of recognition. Then I read your comment. Now I thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
Uncle Michael:

Awww...this is so great. It's a masterpiece.
Avatar 6:43pm
dk:

i will never, _ever_, get tired of "paris 1919".

JakeGould:

Hello there!
Avatar 6:44pm
dk:

... in other words, what uncle michael said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm
Gaylord Fields:

"Paris 1919" is a song I can't imagine being improved upon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm
maestroso:

Indeed, Mr. Fields. I love this song.
Avatar 6:46pm
dk:

yeah. there's is literally NOTHING you could possibly want to add or take away from it. everything about it is just perfect. it's a stunning bit of architecture.
  6:47pm
P-90:

@ Pufnstuf Dude: OK, just to clarify, my post was playful and not meant to criticize or correct our host.
We do commonly say "mediums" when referring to a specific number of them, and reserve "media" for the categorical case.

@DJ G.: "Home and Away", got it. Thanks! He's one of those artists whose stuff is always good, but I haven't really become acquainted with the breadth of his ouvre

Irene Trudel:

Gaylord, how am I supposed to fix dinner when I have to keep running to see what you're playing??? Seriously, what a great show today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I'd love to hang out and listen to the show, but my daughter wants to go fishing on a local stream before dark.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Irene: I humbly accept that coming from you.
  6:49pm
JakeGould:

Your daughter has her priorities straight, Ken.
  6:50pm
P-90:

@ Ken from HP: That sounds so cool, like you're living in a Robert Frost poem
  6:58pm
sugarwolf:

Another surreptitious Sunday night at work listen and comment board posting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm
Gaylord Fields:

@sugarwolf: It's a good thing your co-workers have bad taste in music and are illiterate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm
Uncle Michael:

Bonaducci vocal?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm
Gaylord Fields:

Ha! No actual Partridges were harmed (or involved) in the making of that track. It was recorded before the producers realized that David Cassidy could sing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm
Uncle Michael:

I'm looking at Youtube and there is a short version with a Cassidy vocal that's taken from the show, It also looks like the version you played might have been the title music from the pilot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
Gaylord Fields:

They did some retrofitting with Cassidy's voice on a few tracks recorded for the first album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
Uncle Michael:

And my god...Shirley was hot. Susan Dey...pfft. What was I thinking during puberty?
  7:23pm
P-90:

Shirley stayed hot, but Susan got hot too.
She blossomed during the series--"The Funicello Effect"
  7:25pm
P-90:

Poor David Cassidy is being divorced by his wife after his "most recent DWI arrest" in January
  7:30pm
zbs:

btw, David Cassidy grew up in West Orange
  7:33pm
P-90:

Really? I knew he was born in New York and grew up in the area. In a neighboring alternate universe, he might be a WFMU DJ, and play and sing in clubs with a local band...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
Uncle Michael:

Or Ambassador to the United Nations!
  7:42pm
zbs:

I finally got my antenna working clearly for this station.

And from the fire escape I tell you boy is it ever grill season at the fifth story level in Brooklyn. Got three or four different vapors swirling around up here

  7:44pm
P-90:

@Ken from HP: that didn't take long
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Ken From Hyde Park: Next you have to teach your daughter to exaggerate the size of the fish she caught.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
Zach:

thnx for turning me on to Beaver & Krause
Avatar 7:46pm
Whooda:

@Ken Congratulations on the girl's good luck with fish. I can almost see that pearly white smile from here. She's probably on cloud nine. Now tell here there's a whole LAKE in the kitchen sink where she can fish for dirty dishes to wash *hrmpphh*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
Uncle Michael:

This is fabulous....the Jim Noir.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
