Here's five bucks for the tip jar. How'd you know? Hiya, Gaylord. Sitting back, letting it all flow.
  6:09pm
Kirill:

not bad
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm
Gaylord Fields:

Thanks, Sem Chumbo!
  6:10pm
P-90:

Ah, The Bali Hai, on the island of Moorea. Went scuba diving in their shadows once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Kirill: That's good to know, because I'm not here to make terrible radio. :)
  6:12pm
P-90:

...and brought back this Sppnish dubloon I'm chucking in the tip jar.
Good afternoon, DJ Gaylord and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm
Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: I went snorkeling off Kauai once. I sighted no doubloons, just tortoises.
  6:15pm
P-90:

Ah, Tahiti, the island next door to Moorea. Unfortunately a little overdeveloped since James Michener's time. Looks a lot like Santa Monica now.
  6:21pm
Carmichael:

Hey there Gaylord! Cleaning the pool to these great tuned. Not quite the great Pacific though ...
  6:21pm
P-90:

Never had the chance to dive in Hawaii. Didn't even get to enjoy Waikiki Beach, it rained continuously the one time that I was there.
  6:24pm
P-90:

"fearless Vampire Killers": Roman Polanski's finest comedic performance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm
Gaylord Fields:

Maybe I'm overcompensating for being in seriously landlocked Santa Fe last week.
  6:27pm
P-90:

I see, that might explain how we've flown from the South Pacific to the mists of darkest Carpathia, thence to Soho.
The weather was nice in landlocked Santa Fe, I trust
  6:33pm
P-90:

Ohhhhhh...., THAT "Porpoise Song", from the film "Head".
I didn't recognize it with that arrangement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm
Sem Chumbo:

This show is washing over me like Pacific waves over Burt and Deborah in From Here to Eternity. What's a little sand in your trunks, anyway?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm
Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: It actually snowed for a few minutes one day! It did get warmer as the week progressed.
Avatar 6:46pm
sugarwolf:

snow in May is so wrong
  6:48pm
P-90:

I've never seen it snow in the desert, always thought it would be a beautiful thing, for some reason.
Avatar 6:52pm
tomB:

smoooooth seque fr BJT to Paris Sibs
  Swag For Life Member 7:06pm
12539:

That would have never happened with a cassette.
  7:07pm
Carmichael:

Try to do THAT with a CD!
Avatar 7:08pm
tomB:

had to check R&R Lullaby for possible BBoy involvement. Turns out it's The Blossoms w [Diamond] Dave Somerville at bass. Talk about singing white!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm
Gaylord Fields:

What gives a DJ the blues more than a skipped LP?
  7:10pm
P-90:

Hi Carmichael and 125etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm
Gaylord Fields:

@tomB: Story I heard is the Beach Boys were unavailable, but it's L.A., where sessions singers fall off trees! And you're right: The Blossoms can sound like anyone!
  7:13pm
P-90:

Blues for the DJ maybe, but when I hear the occasional skip it reminds me that I'm listening to someone who plays music for his/her listeners on vinyl, and I smile a teeny smile
  7:16pm
Carmichael:

Yep, the crackle and pop of vinyl is as inviting as an evening campfire. Minus the smoke.
Avatar 7:19pm
TDK60:

Still dig scratchy discs /if/ the music comes through.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm
Gaylord Fields:

I enjoy the familiar occurrences of pops and scratches on an old piece of vinyl. It reminds me that I have a unique sonic artifact.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm
dale:

is this bobbi humphrey from an abc movie of the week starring joanne pflug?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm
Gaylord Fields:

@dale: You were just looking for an excuse to type the word "pflug"!
  7:23pm
Carmichael:

Well put, Gaylord. We used to call vinyl shopping "spelunking", for more than one reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm
Gaylord Fields:

@sugarwolf: Even at 7,000 feet it's a little bit wrong in May.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm
dale:

riight? ...or the one married to richard benjamin....forgot her name. was it joanne?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm
dale:

paula prentiss!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm
Gaylord Fields:

Paula Prentiss, you mean. They played a couple on the one-and-done sitcom "He and She."
Avatar 7:28pm
tomB:

poor man's Gene Clark
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm
dale:

karen valentine and richard long in 'coffee, tea or me' was a fun one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
dale:

the governor and j.j. was not a huge hit, but i liked it. i'm gettin' old.
  7:31pm
Carmichael:

Room 222 was a must-watch back then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm
Gaylord Fields:

And there's Judy Carne and poor, hapless Peter Deuel/Duel in "Love on a Rooftop."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
Gaylord Fields:

He lost a duel with himself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
dale:

oh man - i remember love in a rooftop!
  7:36pm
Carmichael:

Joe Stampley!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
dale:

did michael constantine do anything else that was big?
Avatar 7:38pm
sugarwolf:

great, now you guys have me looking at the Jo Ann Pflug website
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
Gaylord Fields:

Yes, Joe Stampley when he was in a Southern frat rock band!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm
Gaylord Fields:

The Uniques' "You Ain't Tuff" is a great fake Them/Stones/Animals cut!
  7:40pm
P-90:

Had to get in on this pflug thing. Jo Ann Pflug will be remembered forever as Nurse Dish in M*A*S*H. I typed her name into Google to check the spelling of Ms. Pflug's first name, and was fascinated to to find that her name is the SECOND one that autofills when you type "Jo Ann".
(The first is Jo Ann fabric [?]).
Ms. Pflug, it seems, is more pfamous than ever.
  7:40pm
Carmichael:

Man, I haven't heard that song in 25 years. I really dig the Uniques.
Avatar 7:42pm
sugarwolf:

That's Lieutenant Dish to you, P-90!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Carmichael: Nick Lowe does a decent cover (natch) of "Not Too Long Ago" on his At My Age album from a few years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Gaylord Fields:

@sugarwolf: Then my work on Earth is done.
  7:44pm
Carmichael:

The other half of Love.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Carmichael: I though "hate" was the other half of love.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
Gaylord Fields:

It is, according to Robert Mitchum.
  7:48pm
JakeGould:

I always wondered, if Robert Mitchum lost a pinky, would his hangs just spell “LOVE HAT”?
  7:48pm
JakeGould:

And hello, Mr. Fields!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
Gaylord Fields:

Hiya, JakeGould!
  7:51pm
P-90:

@ Carmichael: yes I knew, without consulting a Pflugsite, that the character is known as both "Nurse" and "Lt.".
I knew whichever one I used, someone was gonna correct me...
The "Dish" part is the key, though.
Pflug, p f l u g, PFLUG
got that out of my system
  7:52pm
Carmichael:

Arthur Lee would tell you there wasn't another half.
  7:52pm
P-90:

@ Jake: "LOVE HAT" Hahaha
  7:54pm
P-90:

@ooops: that was @sugarwolf, not @carmichael
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm
dale:

glad i was able to jog some brain pans and boyhood crushes.
  7:57pm
P-90:

What a nostalgia trip this turned out to be.
I had completely forgotten about both The Uniques and "The Governor and JJ"
pflug
  7:57pm
Carmichael:

I think I saw Joanne Pflug in an episode of Love American Style.
  7:58pm
Gaylord Fields:

I'm black history! See you next week!
  Swag For Life Member 7:58pm
12539:

Thanks, Gaylord.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm

Avatar 7:58pm
slugluv1313:

  7:58pm
P-90:

@Carm: She probably did a couple of those. Is that show on Hulu or anyplace?
Avatar 7:58pm
tomB:

Wait! Two Friday Nights on one Sunday
  7:59pm
P-90:

Thanks, DJ Gaylord!

RIP Sandy Becker, my childhood friend
