@Droll - Make mine magazine Sunset (it occurs to me that the East Coast people probably don't know what that is).

I saw wfmu bldg.on google earth the other day and I think one of the bricks is cracked !
  11:01pm
JakeGould:

The thing about “Frampton Comes Alive” and “Cheap Trick Live at Budokan” is those albums were always prefaces by others the following way in high school, “I don’t really like (Cheap Trick or Peter Frampton), but I really like this album.” Such hipster posing in the early 1980s!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
pacific standard simon:

And let's not forget "Live Bullet".
  11:03pm
Carmichael:

Hipsters are timeless! I really dig that Rudy Vallee!
  11:03pm
JakeGould:

Never got into “Live Bullet.” That’s your old man being 10 years older than me thing I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm
Andrew Waterloo:

@Jake, it's a more honest statement than saying "I like Radiohead, just not the last 80% of their catalog"
  11:05pm
mark Flynn:

But it was the live album after Allman Brothers Live At The Filmore East. I say that as a so-so Framp fan. Close 3rd is Yes Songs ( where Close To The Edge and Siberian Khatru are much better than the studio version ), and Steve Miller Band "The Gangster Is Back". "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
coelacanth:

i,at the time-as now, really dislike both those live albums.(cheap trick & -comes alive) but i remember kids saying just that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
pacific standard simon:

My fave Peter Frampton song was that one he did with Chris Spedding on the Thelonious Monk tribute album -- the sonofabitch really CAN play guitar.
  11:06pm
JakeGould:

@AndrewWaterloo: I will always remember the days I would say “I don’t like Radiohead.” and so-called friends acted like I just committed blasphemy.
  11:07pm
mark Flynn:

Deserve's serious props too.

Talking rock world.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm

I'd say that I can't even remember ever hearing anything by Radiohead after their second album, but I'm not sure I want that much hipster cred.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm

(i seldom liked live albums back then..."Grand funk live album"is an exception, being the most raw,and best GF album....yeah,& Get yer ya-yas out.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm

@JakeGould.. I know.. and they act like the offense is you're not being open minded. Couldn't be a difference in taste.

Frank Zappa's Roxy & Elsewhere was a wonderful live album...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm
coelacanth:

Oh yeah... Allman Brothers,of course!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm
Andrew Waterloo:

@PSS.. I was really into them through the Bends and OK Computer but not much afterwards.. it was the first time I had money an access to good record stores so Radiohead wasn't very interesting to me at the time. But I listened to Kid A this weekend and was surprised at how well I knew the album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm

(in my lowly opinion,Radiohead has always been and continues to be extraordinary,in several ways.)

“Hot August Night” with that cover of Neil Diamond like he is pantomiming air crotch stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm

i think their weakest albums are post-amnesiac.(hail to the thief,& king of limbs) but in rainbows is superb, esp. if you get yer hands on the "bonus disc" as well.
  11:19pm
coalhard:

We had a local artist who could play a mean rendition of GF but was killed by jealous boyfriend his name was Barlow-had long hair down to his waist--happy ending to story though he influenced me and others
  11:19pm

In the great scheme of things I don’t give a flying anything about Radiohead.

Hot August Night was my gateway to Neil Diamond. Every "Hhhhuuaa" on that album is engrammed into my DNA.
  11:22pm
mark Flynn:

Radiohead is a brilliant studio band that brings it to the live setting, much like Massive Attack. Their live albums showcase their skills, for whatever reason, there were bands in the 70's who were essentially live bands that did great studio albums but shined live. Few bands have been able to pull that off. In the jazz world, there are so many good live recordings it's another realm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm
coelacanth:

mark Flynn- agree on all accounts...It's amazing to me that the vast majority of my favorite jazz record were recorded live,in on take.
