Hey, @P-90.
Avatar 9:17pm
Droll:

I (incorrectly) guessed the opening track to be Elliott Sharp. Marclay is also an accomplished room-clearer.
  9:18pm
JakeGould:

This is a a sweet version of “You Can Make It If You Try.” And HELLO!
Avatar 9:18pm

Has anyone had a Whooda sighting lately? Glomming McWiFi and such?
Avatar 9:19pm
Dave Mandl:

Howdy, Droll, Jake.
  9:21pm
P-90:

@fleep; I think he did turn up recently, I'm trying to remember when/where. He might have actually called in to someone's show in the last week or so.
  9:22pm
Carmichael:

Apologies, just got here. I promise to keep listening. I promise.

12539:

Don't be so hard on yourself, Dave. Few things say Old School Hipster as clearly as Christian Marclay.
Avatar 9:24pm
Droll:

By "Room clearer" I mean "My kind of music", of course. I liked the opener, but everyone did play guitar on it, so I'm not sure I get partial credit for Mr. Sharp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm

Sly did cover "Que Sera, Sera." Is true.

@Jake Rabbit popped up on TranspacificSP and Daniel Blumin's boards. And what an eccentric set this is turning out to be.

Do not talk smack about Christian Marclay. He was more important to my youth than Wonder Bread or Keds.

Hi, Dave M., listening silently here and enjoying the show, as usual

On my Nommos LP, that track has no apostrophe. As if it matters, but I edit copy. So.
Avatar 9:52pm
Dave Mandl:

@RTP: It does matter. No way to tell looking at this copy, but it sounds like it's a typo. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm
Irwin:

Dave Cousins is one my least favorite vocalists of all time. But one of your faves, Dave?
  9:55pm
JakeGould:

This “Lemon Pie” song. That “Custard Pie” song. That “Squeeze my lemon…” song. All of that really grosses out the delicious world of dessert to me.
Avatar 9:55pm
Dave Mandl:

@Irwin: An acquired test, definitely. He's not one of my faves, but I'm OK with him.
  9:55pm

@fleep: Phew! I miss Revolution Rabbit.

CAT FIGHT!
Avatar 9:56pm
Dave Mandl:

@Jake: Agreed, those guys should keep it to themselves.
  9:57pm
JakeGould:

@Droll: Just throw a shoe at those cats like they do in cartoons where apparently people were poor, but not poor enough that losing one shoe due to a cat making noise was that big a deal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm
Irwin:

Sonic Youth: more of my least favorite vocals. Finish with some Ella Fitzgerald and you'll drive me right into Little Steve's Underground Garage.
Avatar 10:01pm
Dave Mandl:

@Irwin: I'm pretty much with you there. But I like that Alice Cooper song.
Avatar 10:02pm
Dave Mandl:

Probably more vocals on my show tonight than the last six months combined.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm
Irwin:

Sorry, Little STEVEN.
Avatar 10:04pm
Droll:

Alice Cooper also has a radio show. I thought he was pretty good.
Avatar 10:06pm
Dave Mandl:

@Droll: Curious what he does. I have to try to check that out. Esp. since I recently found out he's a Laura Nyro fan.
Avatar 10:06pm
slugluv1313:

oh yes, i remember Sly's version of "Que Sera Sera" -- even as a kid i thought . . . BIZARRE! but ya know, i kinda like it :)
Avatar 10:07pm
Droll:

DM, He's syndicated, it doesn't go too far off script, but he's still interesting and articulate and likes B-sides.
  10:08pm
JakeGould:

People, seriously. Chill out. We need love! Or at least reasonable ambivalence towards one another!
Avatar 10:13pm

That I know the show has a 2% limit only on rock and roll, not on general vocals, just saying...

Nice accounting trick, but referring to it as "R.I.O." does not change the fact R stands for Rock.

The last trio sounds great. A very attractive, hip dancer and fellow alum of my alma mater (she was a few years ahead of me) was/is very good buddies or more w/Mr. Belogenis. Felt jealous of him for that. Of the amazingly talented, play with everyone under the sun Messieurs Blumenkranz and Wolleson, the less said the better...

Avatar 11:57pm
Droll:

Loved Steamhammer! Wonderful show, DM. However, please remember 2% of a 3 hour show is only 3:36. And just to reiterate, "Rock In Opposition" is not "Negative Rock", playing it does not subtract from your total.

Have a fun week yinz!
