Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am pacific standard simon:

Missed the opening set when a blown bulb on my Hello Kitty night light tripped the circuit breaker in the basement -- dang it!
  12:17am P-90:

@BGZ: Where was that? Curious.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am Matt from Springfield:

Ahh, Chip Douglas and Bill Martin.
  12:23am coalhard:

I have a question who are people with red letter names?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am pacific standard simon:

Speaking of doors into summer, I'm reading Vol. 2 of the Robt. Heinlein biography now. Turns out this title came from something his wife said when the cat was rejecting outside trips during the winter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am pacific standard simon:

@Matt: "univoisal coverage", eh? Nyuk nyuk nyuk!

  12:39am P-90:

@pss: Is that the Patterson RAH bio? I've seen mixed reviews, haven't had a chance to look into it yet. I met RAH once, as a kid, when he was meeting up with fans at one of the blood drives he sponsored-
-which I understand are still ongoing today...
12:45am Bob in DC and/or Virginia:

It was a much different score 40 seconds before the game ended.
Avatar 12:45am ! I X Key !:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45am Matt from Springfield:

Where local, means LOCAL!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am Matt from Springfield:

YEAH Donovan!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48am pacific standard simon:

@P-90 - Yes, the Patterson. I like it, myself, and you're never likely to get a better one, because of the sources that he had access to. I had the same blood drive experience, at a '70s Worldcon. Also, Bill Patterson inadvertently caused me and my wife to meet, and we used to play poker together, so I might be biased.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48am Matt from Springfield:

"Jennifer Juniper / Hair of golden fax* /
Jennifer Juniper / Longs for what she lacks" !

*fax=old word for hair locks. Fairfax County comes from Lord Fairfax, fair fax = light/pretty hair!!
Avatar 12:48am BadGuyZero:

In the mid-90s I dated a girl that was named after this song. Her mom was a HUGE Donovan fan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: You were ahead of the curve then, before that song's revival from "Election" (1999) onward to the present.

My Mom's aunt was as well - named two of her kids Donovan and Laney (after "Laleña")!
12:51am Pete L in Columbus Ohio:

sounds like NRBQ!

@Droll: Quite rightly..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am pacific standard simon:

I bet you flushed when they did that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am pacific standard simon:

It appears that "Ce N'est Pas Une Vie" is the French title of Martin & Lewis's "Living It Up" (1954).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59am Matt from Springfield:

Whatever this is, I'm likin' it!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am Ken From Hyde Park:

Bob Frank & Joe Frank related?
Avatar 1:02am BadGuyZero:

Kinky Friedman divided by the square root of Lee Hazlewood equals Bob Frank.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am pacific standard simon:

Bob Frank sounded a lot like Townes Van Zandt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am pacific standard simon:

It says on the web that there's a big Jim Dickinson connection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am Matt from Springfield:

It's just the raadiooooooo...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am Matt from Springfield:

Nice scratchy well-worn original A&M surface noise!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08am Therese:

This record originally belonged to my parents!
Avatar 1:09am BadGuyZero:

I scored a "Superstar" 7-inch in Chicago last year.

My parents had this LP. It had a wraparound sleeve that housed the LP.

"Superstar" just fills me with sadness.

Avatar 1:13am Droll:

It's the singing drummer set! Sussudio is next!
Avatar 1:14am BadGuyZero:

My parents had the first few Carpenters records and a bunch of Herb Alpert records. The gold A&M label with the trumpet logo is planted deep in my memory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15am pacific standard simon:

Don Henley must die!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15am Matt from Springfield:

Aahhh, what the Hell does Don Henley know?!?
  1:16am P-90:

Don Henley is a crybaby.

@PSS: "A WFMU Documentary Part 7: Don Henley Must Die!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am pacific standard simon:

10 Things You Didn't Know About Don Henley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: "They Long To Be Close To You" was written by Bacharach/David, with the intention of giving it to Herb Alpert as a *performer*. Wise decision he made to instead hand it to his newly-signed sibling band...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am pacific standard simon:

Why do birds fall out of the sky

They hate to be
Smelling you.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am Matt from Springfield:

There's still time for Neil Sedaka to write a song for Daft Punk!..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30am pacific standard simon:

I think I personally paid for one of the fixtures in the bathrooms of the performance space during the fall fund raiser.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am Ken From Hyde Park:

PSS - I hope that purchase was not of the "You broke it, you bought it" variety.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am pacific standard simon:

Love these weird little Eno tracks.
Avatar 1:34am BadGuyZero:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34am pacific standard simon:

They've been bootlegged since they were broadcast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am Ken From Hyde Park:

A "Married With Children" episode had this Fever song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53am pacific standard simon:

Real interesting song... especially right after Roy Orbison.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05am pacific standard simon:

Ah well -- bedtime!
Avatar 2:08am BadGuyZero:

When you were talking about that Eno record I realized that I have a copy of that. Il Cane Lento is a gray market label. Every release of theirs that I've seen has been concerts/live sessions broadcast on the radio somewhere.
  2:13am Sonny Beaches:

Listening to you in Memphis Tennessee
Avatar 2:14am Droll:

[Whoa -- I haven't heard electric sitar powered Steal Away in a gazillion years! AM Gold fave! ]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am Ken From Hyde Park:

Yeah, if my memory is correct, I heard that on the radio in the late 70s.
Avatar 2:16am beavoux:

So what's next Firefall? Eddie Money?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17am Therese:

Such 70s radio flashbacks with that Robbie Dupree song...
  2:18am David Saks:

Ace..."How Long Has This Been Going On" !!!
Avatar 2:19am beavoux:

@david ya beat me to it!
Avatar 2:20am BadGuyZero:

If you play Bob Welch's "Ebony Eyes" and/or Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" I'm going to think I walked through a time portal.
Avatar 2:21am BadGuyZero:

I thought I had stumbled into a time portal a couple of nights ago. I was walking back from the grocery store and some guy down the street was walking and singing "Who Let The Dogs Out" very loudly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22am Ken From Hyde Park:

Is there a copy of Lou Rawl's "You'll Never Find ..." in there?
Avatar 2:23am David Saks:

Great show Therese.

Avatar 2:32am BadGuyZero:

This Dear Eloise track is nice.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am Ken From Hyde Park:
