  3:03pm Alison Porchnik:

No comments about the weather please.
Avatar 3:04pm Sem Chumbo:

Radio cult classic? Pass the kool-aid, I'm in.
Hiya, Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Ike:

Hello Dere!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The climate sure is hot & humid outside today, isn't it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm rrg:

Nice day if it don't rain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Irwin:

Ambrose Bierce's definition of barometer: "An ingenious device for telling us what kind of weather we are having."
  3:14pm marmalade kitty:

I wil lie on the couch while Brian plays piano.. nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Irwin:

Soggiest piano in recorded history.
Avatar 3:25pm Droll:

I don't know which way the wind blows... Where's a weatherman?

I really like this piano version of Gary Neuman!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Guido from Cologne:

Soggy piano recording.
How does this work?
  3:27pm Listening Out There:

With the right engineer, you get a very fluid sound...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Michael:

A radio draamar?
Avatar 3:30pm Droll:

Sweet shredding -- must be 180bpm or better!
  3:50pm berbo:

because who doesn't like Amanda?
Avatar 3:55pm Droll:

I live in 'Merica:
1. I don't recognize any "World Cup" that doesn't take place entirely in 'Merica like the "World Series".
2. I don't recognize any sport called football that doesn't involve hulks in pads and helmets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm rrg:

By unknown from "unknown"?
Avatar 3:57pm Roberto:

All I know about unknown is that he rocks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm rrg:

He reminds me a little of Wolfgang.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm rrg:

Hey! Doesn't MY county get a flood warning?
Avatar 4:01pm Droll:

rrg, 40 days and 40 nights. You've been warned.
  4:05pm ccrides:

Far 'reaching'..!..Man!!!!...:)O(:...
  4:17pm Listening Out There:

Background music is...Roy Buchanan?
  4:17pm gurn blanston:

Enjoying this audio trip so far. Reminds me, anyone seen Wake In Fright?
Avatar 4:19pm Droll:

LoT, I think the guitar piece was a Jeff Beck tune, but I don't recognize most of the bg music.

I have only one thing to say about this radio play: MORE RUSSEL GUY, PLEASE! I got a contact high from listening.
  4:20pm Listening Out There:

Ah, Jeff Beck. Thank you, you're right. Been a while... :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Alison Porchnik:

"Everyone knows cats hate reggae. It confuses them." Damn straight!
  4:22pm Listening Out There:

Looks like audio and text versions of this are available here. Haven't tried to download... http://www.simonrumble.com/psychedelicatessen/ Includes some background info.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Irwin:

Thanks to Wally de Backer for introducing me to WR2U.
Avatar 4:32pm t_J:

Hi Irwin .. good stuff!

"Australia is merely an island of Antarctica...and of no further significance." I wish I had some Australian friends so I could inform them...
Avatar 4:38pm dale:

chariots of the gods reference combined with amazing blondel's england!
  4:48pm bw:

post anihilation age!
Avatar 4:48pm Mr. Lowry:

For what it's worth, "like an eclipse through a beer bottle" (with quotes) turns up nothing in Google.
Avatar 4:49pm Droll:

That radio play was fucking brilliant! Puts Word Jazz to shame, better than X Minus One... Nothing to compare that show to. One-Adam-Twelve, we have a Herbal Freak in progress, indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...1st I thot of Hunter Thompson, then Douglas Adams, then Firesign Theatre...I don't know X Minus One. That was indeed great - very fast & dense !...
  4:53pm ccrides:

That was really a trippy piece..!..I doubt if I'll ever get married again!!!!...too much trouble...:)O(:..
  4:55pm gurn blanston:

Much like Joe Frank, that piece destroyed my ability to get anything done while it was on.
  4:57pm ccrides:

Oh yeah!!...make 'it' real!!!...:)O(:..
  5:14pm jan:

Thinking of Tommy James and the Shondells, Irwin, are you going to see Jersey Boys and can you play something from that pack of magpies?
  5:15pm Listening Out There:

The arrangments behind Petula Clark were always great...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm rrg:

One of my favorites. And now one of yours, fellow listeners.
  5:15pm ?:

Two Shondells: Ronny Serota (gtr), Al Puglisi (drums).
  5:16pm Listening Out There:

....probably recorded liev on, what, four tracks? Eight tracks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Irwin:

Pet Clark's arrangements by Tony Hatch, who wrote many of her hits as well.
  5:24pm jan:

Seriously, Petula Clark is lovely. Actually, I'd not like to hear any Frankie Valli. Just feeling mischievous.
Avatar 5:24pm t_J:

great master this prod
Avatar 5:30pm t_J:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I wonder what/if Ra's & Mingus' mutual awareness &/or interaction might have been?; they are both filters of the Ellingtonian...& other stuff...
Avatar 5:36pm t_J:

when i knew they had to kill kangaroos as they see them as a plague i wondered if the malicious bloodlines of small "délit" mischiefs aren't really there .. even koalas are forced to cross highways .. there's good cultural aussie stuff tough, forget sports
  5:36pm Listening Out There:

This trio sounds like your past guests, The Bad Plus. Sounds good, though...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Irwin:

Ra was a big fan of Mingus AND Ellington.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Irwin:

LoT: Yep, it is Bad Plussian.
Avatar 5:38pm dale:

is it the pad plus that does jazzy covers of pink floyd and such? like them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- Ta.
...I can imagine Mingus might have been too 'self-involved' (in quotes) - & as you pointed out on your special w/ The Dr. - Ra was not exactly embraced by all Jazbos...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Irwin:

You might be thinking of Marco Benevento, who also does unusual covers (as does Bad Plus).
Avatar 5:40pm t_J:

i say minor crimes cuz i know a case of deportation to australia by hand picked fruit robbing ... who wouldn't grab a watermelon before going to an island right?
  5:41pm Fredericks:

Lowry, that's called (by me and Gene Weingarten) a "googlenope".
  5:46pm berbo:

I wonder if she likes Amanda?
Avatar 5:48pm dale:

wonder if the little girl from amazing everlasting gobstoppers kept singing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm rrg:

You sure can pick mash-ups.
  5:49pm Listening Out There:

Smells Like Teen Home
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Michele:

I've never heard this mashup!!! It is making my terrible day a little better. Thanks Irwin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...but - those nice Nirvana boys never had any truck w/ the likes of Chuck Manson...
Avatar 5:52pm dale:

how's foodbed.com treating you, michele?
  5:52pm Robert:

rrg, if you like mashups, check out Niel Cicerega's recent oeuvre. Quality's uneven, but I recommend "Mullet with Butterfly Wings", "Smooth Flow", and of course "Crocodile Chop".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Irwin:

Glad to help, Mich darling.
  5:52pm Laura L:

Thanks for making an archive, Irwin, so later I can catch the first 2 hrs. 30 minutes.
Avatar 5:52pm t_J:

Avatar 5:53pm t_J:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...'Pet Sounds' to 'Nevermind' is kinda a heavy summation - aside form it just sounding so great...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm rrg:

Work interfered with my listening to most of today, but, right, Laura and I can listen together in the archive.

Fine show, thanks.
Avatar 5:58pm Sem Chumbo:

Thanks, Irwin. Shania a bit of a pleasant surprise, and a Canuck, eh? See ya later, mon ami.
Avatar 5:58pm Droll:

Thanks Irwin! Fantastic radio play, and spiffy hard bop with a touch of country twang. I couldn't imagine a better show.
